Synopsis
A westernized Irish adoptee, Joong-Ah inevitably flies back to Korea to confront her past and to see the country she is really from, only to fall in love with her brother, Jae-Bok. Their love is painful, as they are never meant to be together as lovers, but merely as brother and sister. The show’s message is that there is no such thing as noble innocent love and that love is adversity itself. Therefore, love mustn’t be impeded by so-called “destiny” or family, no matter how ironic or difficult the case may seem. Although destiny is cruel and arduous, the two young lovers radiate pure happiness. The show describes how love survives the tragic bondage of family, destiny and romance.

I first saw Hyun Bin in My Lovely Samsoon and wasn’t impressed, ditto for A Millionaire’s First Love. I liked him better in Snow Queen, but this is definetly my favorite series with him. He looks much younger and cuter.
His acting is good, and the story is good and well acted.

I love hyun bin in this drama..he deserved the best newcomer for his role. I feel sad & heart broken for him struggling to hold on to his wife who had fallen in love with another man. And so happy for him to find love again with someone who truly treasure him. Yeh!

I truly enjoy this drama it was very mature and different from many of Korean drama that I have seen. For example Shi Yeon character with her not so perfect past, the Pastor who raise Gook being in love with his father. It was so many elements to this drama that you can’t help but be taking in. I think it received so many negative reviews because it not the typical Korean drama such as Full House, Princess Hour, Golden Bride, Wedding….. ETC….. It had more substance. It stayed away from the stupid misunderstanding, there was no CEO or rich eldest son and most importantly it wasn’t that typical love triangle, it something you can relate to because it can happen to an ordinarily person.
I enjoy Gook and Shi Yoon relationship the most due to the honesty and loyalty they character displayed. I even enjoy the relationship between Gook and Jae Bok due to the respect the showed each other. I did not care for the main girl character. She had no respect for other people feelings; she was selfish, greedy and pathetic all the while maintain an innocent about her self which I found to be devilish. I’m happy that her and Jae Bok ended up together because he showed the same characteristic as Jang Ah when it came to his relationship with Shi Yeon, I found it disappointed and sad that he did not respect Shi Yeon who was honest and faithful but respected Jang Ah who was eagerly willing to cheat on her husband.
The one thing Jang Ah did right in this drama was maintain a postive relationship between her and Gook for they sake of they child, but if I was to be honest that was probably due to Gook. Most importantly I enjoy and fell in love with Hyun Bin all over again for playing Kang Gook so well he showed nothing but love, respect, understanding and forgiveness through out this drama. I’m a big Hyun Bin fan but he played this character so well that I’m now in love with two man (HYUN BIN AND KANG GOOK). I’m so glad he ended up with Shi Yeon, great ending!!!!!!

I started watching this long ago, but stopped a little more than halfway through. Perhaps I liked Kang Gook’s devotion to Joong Ah a bit too much… and although I knew it was inevitable (due to the fact that the two leads are Lee Na Young and Kim Min Joon), Joong Ah/Kang Gook were not meant to be, despite his devotion to her.
Overall, I just hated the way the story was written… it is not a typical Korean drama… I really, really tried to understand this from an artistic point of view… what the writer was trying to portray, but honestly, much of it was a disappointment. I’d give it a 3/5 stars. Hyun Bin, surprisingly, was great… Kim Min Joon has always annoyed me in other roles and this one is no different. Lee Na Young is underrated as an actress (I admire her for taking on some interesting, and sometimes unconventional roles) but I really did not like her character at all. Kim Min Jung is ok… nothing special in terms of looks or acting ability. After watching this drama, I can see see how these characters and their feelings are more realistic than others… but it failed to capture my interest overall… it really was a drag to finish it, unfortunately. If it wasn’t for Lee Na Young and Hyun Bin, I probably would have never finished it.

No offense, but this drama goes in the category along with some of the other questionable ones that I’ve seen. The concept doesn’t make sense. The rationale behind the relationships and their intertwining is just too bizarre. I really tried to follow it objectively, but it just doesn’t work for me, eventhough, some of my favorite actors are in it.

Really like this film which requires patience and humility from the viewer. I was tempted to jump to conclusion to like/dislike a character but on watching further (sustained by the witty dialogue/commentaries), learned to appreciate each characters with their weaknesses and their trueness to themselves. The president of the hotel, even if he is rich and seemed haughty, is also in search for himself and love.
A very pleasant departure from the tiresome scheming, plotting, lying, fawning themes in the typical Korean film. I am really grateful for the simple themes of love, kinship and self-identity in this series; giving my soul respite and hope from the resounding selfishness and ugliness of the daily life.
The cinematography can definitely be more interesting but i still love the shades of green, mustard and blues donned by Joong-Ah. I love the content of the story which requires some respectful patience to digest, ponder and understand. The ending symbolism is interesting and though a little mundane, is delivered in a subtle way.
All in all, a very beautiful story.
