Very excited for the new historical drama of Park Si Hoo after 9 years since his iconic drama “The Princess’ Man”, a classic of its genre. From description, Park Si Hoo’s character is an exceptional man with outstanding qualities, a king maker. I hope it will be as memorable as Kim Seung Yoo from TPM. I’m glad there are 24 episodes to enjoy every Sunday during six months. I’m wishing Park Si Hoo and the whole cast and crew to stay healthy and safe and this production to be a great success. WCR Hwaiting!

Less than a day before WCR’s premiere. Here we can see a long preview upload by TV Chosun:

It looks like a great production with a lot of ups and downs and an intriguing plot. I wish good luck in conquering and keeping the viewers’ interest from start to end and the cast&crew’s efforts to be appreciate. Hwaiting!

“The cast and crew of upcoming historical drama “King Maker: The Change of Destiny” recently discussed chemistry, viewership ratings, focal points, and more!
On May 14, TV Chosun ran a livestream broadcast for the “King Maker: The Change of Destiny” press conference. Present were actors Park Shi Hoo, Go Sung Hee, Jun Kwang Ryul, Sung Hyuk, Kim Seung Soo, Eru, and producing director (PD) Yoon Sang Ho.
This historical drama is about the struggle for the throne between kingmakers with psychic abilities. The PD introduced “King Maker: The Change of Destiny” as “both a political drama about those with greed and a melodrama with love. In the end, it’s a human drama that touches hearts.”
The drama also features both factual and fictional characters. Yoon Sang Ho explained, “The only characters who really exist in history include Lee Ha Sun (played by Eru) and regent Heungseon Daewongun (also known as Prince Gung and Yi Ha Eung) (played by Jun Kwang Ryul).”
Park Shi Hoo garnered attention for having seen lots of success in his last historical drama, “The Princess’s Man,” back in 2011. The actor shared, “Rather than feeling pressured, I am looking forward to this. When I first read the script, it had the same feel as when I read ‘The Princess’s Man’ script. I am looking forward to this one more.”
He continued, “I feel good. My spirits are high and good energy is gradually building. I want to transfer this to TV Chosun.” He also predicted viewership ratings of 10 percent.
Go Sung Hee, who stars opposite Park Shi Hoo, talked about working with him, sharing, “It was really so nice. Just by him being there, I was able to feel supported and stable. At the start of filming, I worried a lot and was unsure because I didn’t have a lot of time to prepare. While working with him, I was able to follow along.”
Park Shi Hoo commented, “We have really great chemistry. We’re constantly looking through one another for this melodrama.”
Park Shi Hoo plays Choi Cheon Joong, who is Joseon’s best fortune teller and face reader. When asked what he focused on most while acting, the actor shared, “Since my character can foresee the future, he is very relaxed. I focused a lot on his piercing gaze.” He jokingly added with a laugh, “Our viewers should be careful too. I’m always looking through you.”
The rest of the cast picked what they thought was the drama’s focal point. Go Sung Hee answered, “I think it will be very fun to see our luxury acting on top of the foundation of beautiful writing and impressive directing.” Jun Kwang Ryul made everyone laugh by sharing, “Watching me will be a focal point.”
Kim Seung Soo commented, “Seeing the large-scale picture will be a focal point, but it is a drama with a lot of emotion and density. If you watch closely, you will be able to feel the true taste of this drama the more you watch.” Eru shared, “I think there is a lesson. ‘Don’t let your guard down.'”” source Soompi
If Park Si Hoo said this drama has TPM’s vibe then it is so. It will be very exciting to watch. I’m happy he had the chance to receive the leading role in a historical drama.

As I read on other sites WCR is a Saturday-Sunday drama so we’ll have two episodes every weekend. If is that so then the admin of this site must correct the dates of airing.

Hi @tigerb! nice to meet you. Well I expected this project, firstly bcs is Park Si Hoo’s first historical drama after 9 years since TPM and secondly bcs in this drama he is the protagonist, the first name on the cast list and truth to be told I missed him in such role thinking that he hasn’t much years ahead to play a hero displaying outstanding physical qualities as it was Kim Seung Yoo from TPM, not to mention that him in traditional clothing is an enchanting view. TPM had an amazing OST, I hope WCR will have a beautiful music too so yeah let’s enjoy his project to the fullest.

King Cheoljong’s four sons and potential heirs to the throne, all died before their first birthday. Princess Bong Ryun—if she existed—would be one of two daughters of the King’s birthed by one of the two palace ladies.

WCR is such an outstanding production in every aspects and really, Choi Chun Joong and Hwang Bong Ryun couple has TPM’s Kim Seung Yoo and Lee Se Ryung couple’s vibe, also Chae In Kyoo is as evil as TPM’s Shin Myun. Great cast, great acting.
July 6th, 2020 at 8:39 pm
Okay…..I wasn’t expecting this drama to be this good. From the acting down to the story, everything is so intense. Kim Seung soo and Jun kwang Ryul gives me the chills. They acted as father/son in Jumong, but they’re doing an amazing job as rivals here. The acting is seriously top-notch. Everyone is executing their part very well. Kudos to the cast and crew.
July 13th, 2020 at 8:23 am

July 16th, 2020 at 3:35 am
Wasn’t about 24 episodes in the beginning? How comes they reduced with 3 episodes since the drama is really a good one? Did I miss something?
July 17th, 2020 at 4:48 pm
Maybe it was planned for 24 episodes, reduced to 20 upon showing, and, based on news reports, extended to 21 because of good ratings and positive reviews.
July 20th, 2020 at 8:42 pm
I am not surprised Song Seung Heon didn’t accept the role of Heungseon Daewongun. The father of the last monarch of Joseon was a small-minded asshole. I remember what he did in the drama Mr Sunshine. He had abandoned Korean soldiers captured by the Americans and who were willing to return them unharmed.
Some historians are of the opinion he facilitated the rape and and murder of Queen Min, his own daughter-in-law. In the 2018 movie Feng Shui it was by his hands the Joseon society was set on a course of total collapse no matter the sacrifice of those that tried to save her.
July 21st, 2020 at 12:22 am
Both actors playing the teen and adult Chae In Kyoo were cast well. They didn’t have to try to put on the envious cretin look. It’s built into their physical appearance . . . Lol!!

July 28th, 2020 at 3:26 pm
Honestly, I don’t know about Joseon’s history but even so I didn’t understand pretty much of how really ended WCR, it wasn’t clear for me in many aspects but maybe for Koreans wasn’t confusing like it was for me. Nevertheless I’m glad that at the end their beautiful family reunited and their exemplary love goes on. Congratulations to cast and crew for their outstanding work.
Regarding Park Si Hoo, 9 years ago on 20 July 2011, his iconic drama The Princess’ Man started its journey to conquer the world, after nine years on 26 July 2020, his second historical drama having him as lead actor, successfully ended its journey. I’m sure these both dramas will remain as points of reference in his dramography.

Was a great drama with all good actors and actresses . The ending not detailed of how Park Shi Hoo survive and why that cruel Heungseong not dead. I love the way the people who supported Park and how he cared for them. Very good drama

it’s a good drama to watch. other than the nobles portrayed, guess the one person they indicated as real was the ‘paradise girl’ with the year of birth and demise. so, is the russian giving property to choi’s people after they escaped hanyang true? it was not clear how choi survived but i think the watch saved him, the bullet not penetrating his body, and the habha took care of him before releasing him, the only plausible way he could survive.
