Was Park Gyu a ladies man b4 he met Beo Jin? His mother said sth abt that, didn’t she? That it wasn’t his fault, that all the girls throw themselves at him.
Oh, FINALLY, there r a few cute moments betwn them, when they fall into the lake together m when they run thru the night market together. He even carries her on his back at the end of ep 15/21.
For 3/4 of this show, Beo Jin only has eyes for William. I’m curious to see how she’ll come to love Park Gyu instead. In the shorter version, I think it’ll be abrupt n unconvincing. I hope that change of heart is handled properly in the long version.
The networks sometimes cut short a show w low ratings. They just won’t film as many eps as planned. But here is a show that has already filmed 21 eps, n the network only decided to show 16 of them! What a waste all around!

I don’t think Park Kyu was such person but he was definitely a catch and all the noble families wanted him as their son in law.
I lost count of times when I felt Park Kyu’s frustration and heartbreak when Beo Jin ignored him and only had eyes for William. William became more possessive and annoying towards the later episodes which made me root for Park Kyu more.

@tc,
As I watched more eps, I come to know Park Gyu better, n realize that he wasn’t such a person. It was his mother’s “misconception” n bragging.
I’m done! I like ep 21 just fine, but fr ep 12 on, I actually don’t like Beo Jin v much, for always only having eyes for William, n breaking PG’s heart, like u say, for wavering betwn them to give PG hope n therefore more pain, for misunderstanding PG–how dare she say to her mother that PG was always mean to her when all she ever did was make him jealous n hurt? And I don’t like her for never listening to PG n then always getting in trouble, which then also puts PG in trouble when he has to bail her out. She is definitely cute to look at, but too young to understand n make much sense. Not my kind of heroine.
I don’t like William either. His makeup n platinum blonde hair makes him scary. I think that’s deliberate. And he is a boring person anyway. He has a one tracked mind that doesn’t consider for a moment what life will be like for BJ if she really leaves Tamra. He n BJ r both really immature, n hence the attraction. But this KD is diff fr all the rest. I’d have enjoyed it more if there were more cute moments betwn KG n BJ.
What else do u recommend?

Wow, that’s fast, you managed to finish watching the show in less than a week!
Do u mean sageuk? Some of these came to my mind:
-Kim So Roo ( if u like Ji Sung)
-Dong Yi
-Jejoongwon
-Joseon X-files
The first two have romance story lines as well but Dong Yi gets draggy towards the later part due to extension from 50 to 60 eps! The latter two dramas are more serious and have good plot. If you like SIG, you should watch Jumong and Kingdom of Winds. And don’t forget Jennie’s recommended sageuk, Ballad of Seo Dong!

@tc Hi, tc, how are you?
@KDaddict Hihi, with re to Ballad,still on the look out. Hardly have time to go to the shops when I am back there on weekends but will def get it for you once I get the time. I actually saw a VCD version here in KL but I don’t think you’ll be interested in that, right? I am actually thinking of uploading it on Viki via YT since it’s no longer available online but that will be only be if I cant find it in SG but no worries, I def remember seeing it in the shops in Dec.

@tc,
Saw bits of Dong Yi. Saw Joseon X files. It’s interesting n diff.
Hi, finishing 20 (21) eps in 3 Ds is nothing, as u well know! I actually took it easy this time n took 5 Ds. 4 eps/D, pc of cake!
I neither particularly like nor dislike sageuk. Other factors r more impt. I’ve an aversion to l-o-n-g dramas tho, 60 eps! I’ve yet to see a KD that is worth every ep at that length. If there is no compelling reason, I prefer to stay away fr those.
I saw Jumong when it came out. Also saw Kingdom of Winds. Don’t understand its allure, as I’m not a Moonie. Oh no, hers is Painter of Winds. Got confused for a min.
@Jennie,
Hi, thx 4 remembering my request for SeoD. Whenever u get around to it.
Hey, as ur posts on rooftop Pr n KPop Survival show, u know so much abt KPop, its videos, Plus u watch many KDs. U have a job n a family. Do u sleep at all?

I must admit I came to watch historical dramas because of a personal interest in the values of those times. How they compare to our own today. Not to say these dramas hold to historical accuracy, but they do offer up many treasures and insights, and therefore in my opinion, important contributions to the arts. Tamra Island unfortunately is not one of them.
I enjoyed Dong Yi, Yi San and King Guenchogo among others. There were wonderful philosophical and social-political references that choked me up. Such history has much that our own leaders can learn from and fail to do so. My hat off to the writers for doing the research and for knowing the importance of putting it out there. Your sublime effort is appreciated by at least this viewer.
