Oh wow !! This drama has got my attention.

So far, finished ep 1 and 2 only. Look forward to coming episodes.

The character Oh Soo Jae puzzles me. She is brilliant and sharp I agree. But why is she behaving the way she does? She is so obnoxious and mighty arrogant. She is terrible. Why is she fighting everybody and everything, all the time, even during her private “me” time ? As if she’s a cornered animal? Oh gosh, how did she become what she is now? Why didn’t she turn to look back to check where she was heading? Hope there will be a backstory for viewers to find out.

I believe she made a mistake, when she declared that she was TK Law Firm and TKLF was her. Her bridled arrogance blinded her and as a result she lost it all … Plus another mistake of hers, she was a monster. There was not even a touch of warmth or empathy in her handling of her cases. She slaughtered her way through.

(Note : what happens to Oh Soo Jae’s removal does happen in real life too, not only in k-dramas. It happens when “too much” becomes dangerous and a threat – like in the case of this drama, to TKLF and Founder).

Its too early yet to know what actually the drama is about … but I would GUESS from the title “Why Me”, that its the one question that will save Oh Soo Jae’s destructive course. The question will guide her to eventually change and find humanity within herself again. That humanity will make her, and that it means more than the glass ceiling that she wanted to reach.

The above notes are just my guess only. I might be wrong. Please correct. Thanks.

    Have a good day !

  5. 5 : Megan Says:

Just came from watching ep3 or 4 (?) last night.

Ahaaa … now that I’ve got some more info, I am beginning to get a better picture of the whole setup surronding Oh SooJae. I think I understand her better now, and why she’s such a hard and tough nut … its cuz she practically lives in a gladiators’ arena. Kill or be killed. To make matters worse, her own family members are nothing but parasites, trying to take advantage of her. They are burdensome.

Oh SooJae, I understand you better now. Fighting !!

Finally, the drama is beginning to make its story clearer. I gather its basically about a roguish law firm, with a crooked and greedy leadership who under estimated the brilliance and ambition of a young female partner, who refused to be surpressed, that eventually caused its collapse. Plus everything else that happens in between that make up the story etc etc.

I am now glad that OSJ is a formidable force. She might be relegated to teaching law at the university, but the rogue head of TK Law Firm is still trying to control and make use of her brillance as a lawyer to his advantage. She is aware of this, but is smart enough to build a buffer to protect herself along the way. Secretly, I think she is working towards her goal to take over TKLF eventually. Haha !!

Meanwhile, I think, this point in time is the beginning of the eventual downfall of Choi Tae Kook, CEO of TKFL, a rogue. The catalyst of the downfall might be due to a dubious dealing in a company called Haesu-Bio which the CEO tried to push off to an unsuspecting buyer. We will know more as the story runs.

To make matters worst for TKFL, at the same time, there is a murder case of a social escort that is tied to it, for which OSJ was initially a suspect. Well, trust OSJ not to take advantage of this incident to add to her arsenal of w.o.d. on Choi Tae Kook ?? She and a handpicked bunch of her law students are busy secretly investigating the death. Obviously, someone in TKFL killed SoYoung (the dead victim).

Just jotting down my assumptions here. Its a long read. I might be wrong on many points. Please correct. Thanks.

    Have a nice weekend.

One more point to add :

The healing of Oh SooJae. There is this law student Gong Chan whose admirstion of OSJ at first which then turned to love. I think he will be the healer of the hurts and traumas she’s been through in her life ……. (sorry lah … I am lost for words to describe the situation. Hope you know what it is … ayuh ….. I am not good at romantic stuff yeah !! ). Hehe !! 😁☺

    Good drama 🥰

    Ep 5

Episode continues to peel off another layer of Oh SooJae’s multilayered life experiences.

Poor girl. I can say she had her “best” lessons in this school of hard knocks. The weak would have succumed and “died” a long time ago. But not her. She’s an admirable toughie. Rogue CEO had done a good job, “teaching” her.

The story continues …. The one who utterly made use of her all the while and thought he could get away with it is the rogue CEO. Payback time is here.

When OSJ was a young rookie at the firm she was naive enough to fall for the lies and trickery of the CEO and his eldest son, JuhWan. Unkown to her, there was no intention of any marriage. When she became pregnant, she was tricked to go to the US to wait for JuhWan there. Then … later was told that her baby was stillborn. Oh gosh !! (Dont think its the truth. Baby not dead).

She believed the apparent lie. Now 7 years later, she chanced upon JuhWan’s daughter who bears a resemblence to her. Oh heartbreak !!

Oh SooJae … looks like you are made to take the Firm down. Fighting!

Current time – Meanwhile, the CEO and OSJ are in a subtle fight for power. CEO is in a bind. OSJ and Team are holding him to ransom over his dubious company Hansoo Bio. And CEO continues to obstruct OSJ’s every move but he has not succeeded so far. Last count, CEO agreed to pay OSJ 7 billion to keep quite about his Bahamas money laundry deal.

  9. 9 : Petty Says:

Female lead act is very good…delivery well wooww

  10. 10 : Silverswan Says:

It was an interesting drama but the ending was not that great. All the actors and actresses for this drama were great all the way

  11. 11 : Megan Says:

For elsewhere, the drama has concluded. As for me, I’m still a few episodes behind.

I find it very difficult to be invested and continue to watch this particular drama. For some reason, I instinctively feel like I’m as trapped as Oh SooJae is. Its frustrating to see how hard her life is. It may look good on the outside, but I can feel how she’s struggling to keep alive. And she’s so sad. Frustrating to see.

I dont understand why, for a brilliant and powerhouse law practitioner as she is, she continues to allow herself to be used by those bloody jerks such as the rogue CEO, his useless son JuWan, the crooked Assemblyman who’s obsessively bugged by OSJ, their hanger-ons, etc etc.

By episode 10, she is still hopelessly trapped. Though its a good thing that she has Gong Chan with her. At least she feels his support and presence a relief.

I particularly hate this rogue CEO Choi TaekKoo. 😡

  12. 12 : Megan Says:

A thought I have from the latest episode which I had briefly watched (episode 12?? ) :–

Wow … the wrong which Oh SJ did to Gong Chan at his trial for murder long ago has come to haunt them. Terrible !! Oh gosh!! If we were to look closely, the repercussions were terrible. A whole family suffered the aftermath, including Gong Chan’s life and his future. And the repercussions still linger on years later up to the present.

Gong Chan was framed for a murder he did not commit. He was used as a scapegoat to save JuWan. Oh SJ was a rookie at the Firm at that time. She was used and manipulated to fail at Gong Chan’s murder trial. Oh gosh !! (Can we say Oh SJ was guilty as an indirect party to a murder ? )

(Though a year later, GC was acquited when someone else was found guilty).

(At the time, Gong Chan had a different name. It was later changed to GC).

Now years later, hope this is the time and opportunity Oh SJ will use to right the wrong she did to Gong Chan long ago.

The baddies at TKLF are merciless. They are monsters. CEO Taek Koo knows his son JuWan is rotten and useless to the core, yet he has not made any meaningful efforts to stop him. JuWan will be the death of him !! I wish so. Hope so !! Hehe !! 💀

    Ep 13

Good morning !! Yipee !! My grumblings must have worked !! K-drama miracles work in strange ways dont they?

Finally, OSJ and her Legal Lab Club members are declaring war on rogue CEO Choi TK. OSJ personally went to deliver the declaration. Fighting!

But there’s a heavy price to pay. Evil CEO CTK counteracted. He threatened OSJ that her daughter will be in danger if JuWan were.

(Must be the first time OSJ had news that her daughter is alive).

Oh noooo !! What to do now !!

  15. 15 : Megan Says:

    EP 14

Oooohhhhh … hell has broke loose !! Major upheaval and choas for everyone, including the Evil One.

Dark days !! (Cant believe it …)

Have to stop here temporarily … gotta go now. Will be back as soon as I can …..

    Ep 14

Its been days since I last watched this episode. Still processing and trying to put the dramatic events in perspective. This time, so much had happened. What I will do is try to be as brief as I can.

Wow … Oh SooJae unbelievably returned rogue CEO CTK’s threat, for a threat.

She presented CEO CTK her list of conditions to meet, failing which, in two hours time, she would expose and make public the truth behind her relationship with JuWan years ago; the birth of his grandaughter JaeYi, how he stole baby JaeYi from OSJ by lying that baby was a stillborn.

OSJ threw another blow at CEO CTK. It was that the public will also get to know that he was the real killer of the Social Escort who fell from the TK Law Firm building. She was pregnant at time of death. Shivers !! What evil CEO CTK couldn’t do?? He killed his own baby. (DNA tested during autopsy).

Haha!! I like this one condition too. That is, CEO CTK to resign as CEO of TKLF. And OSJ to be appointed Managing Partner in his stead.

Hahaha … wow … didn’t know that actually OSJ had all the vital and damaging info up her sleeves, for use as ammunition. I think she has more damaging info waiting to be used if necessary later.

After the meeting with OSJ, CEO CTK was left alone in his office feeling stunned. He was reeling in disbelief. Hahaha !! He had underestimated OSJ. (Haha … this is the reason why the Sifu would never teach the last and crucial move/lesson to his disciple … The last move is to save himself from a disloyal disciple).

Cant wait for coming episodes. Would be interesting to see CEO CTK’s next move.

Meanwhile, the University Legal Lab members were very close to arresting JuWan, the Hansoo Heir, and the Son of Politcian Assemblyman. Wont be long now !!

Well, the above are the good news. Now come the bad news.

Terribly sad and touching news. Thanks to JuWan’s wife, OSJ finally got to meet and get to know her own daughter, JaeYi. OSJ cried. She regretted she had missed recognising JaeYi before. (Apparently, it had never occured to her that she could have been lied to about the stillborn, those years ago).

Bio mom and Jae Yi were very happy spending time together. Apparently JaeYi instinctively knew that OSJ was her real mother, for she was holding OSJ’s hand tightly which she did not normally do with other people.

Horrors !! Tragedy struck !! She was killed while crossing the road! Woah …
(As expected, OSJ cried buckets of tears). The scenes were awfully so sad !!

    That’s all for now folks.

    Good night !

  17. 17 : Megan Says:

    Ep 15 – 16 (Finale)

Ep 15 see both contenders emerged from their confrontation with injuries :-

Rogue CEO CTK was reeling in disbelief. He 8realised that he is in a precarious position. OSJ is too tough an opponent to be beaten and sent packing via the normal route. The only effective way is a total removal by disbarrment. To stop her from practising as a lawyer. Effectively to make her totally useless.

So with his influence and power, he organised a Discplinary Board (of the Korean Bar Association), a corrupted one as expected, manned by his supporters to discredit OSJ.

(Note – by now CEO CTK was feeling jittery. He regretted his show of bravado (of innocence) earlier, when he offered his pen to OSJ’s assistant (MiRim) to extract his fingerprint. Actually, his fingerprint was the One that could not be identified on a murder weapon. Nobody could find its owner. This was it, now its for OSJ’s investigating team to catch the killer of Gong Chan’s stepsister.

OSJ had a worse time. Whilst planning her next move to fight CEO CTK, she got to meet with JaeYi her long lost daughter. Got to spend a short loving time with her, then JaeYi died in an accident. What cruel fate !! 😡

It was sad to watch her at this time of her deepest grieve. She utterly broke down. Gong Chan found her, about to drown herself in the sea. 🙏🙏

Encouraged by GC she resolved to fight back !! Fighting !!

Woah …. on OSJ’s request, the displinary trial was broadcasted live. (Wise idea). 🤗

The D.Board’s panel was divided into two – Against (handpicked by CEO CTK) and Pro (overseeing team). The team against OSJ was agressive. They aim to bury ISJ for good.

Haha !! Leave it to OSJ. She turned the disciplinary trial to her advantage when an opportunity occured during questioning by the opposition. She turned the table. From then on, the disciplinary trial became a criminal trial of CEO CTK. Nobody in the court could stop it. OSJ kept feeding the court fresh information and videos after videos to prove the crimes CEO CTK committed. Remember, this was a live broadcast. The whole nation was glued to their news feed. Smart move, OSJ !! (Now, lets consider this, a trial within a trial).

OSJ was found not guilty by the D.B. The opposing D.B. was reprimanded for its unqualified and uninvited members. With its authenticity in question, it was not recognised and thrown out of court. Hurray !! ISJ and Team won !! 👏👏👏

Please go watch the drama for the rest of details. 🙃😜

But ….. in conclusion, I am not very happy with how the ending happen. Hehe … I prefer a much harsher and painful ending for the whole bunch of criminals.

Bye for now. Wish all of you all the best ! 😁🌻

  18. 18 : P. Kim Says:

Incredible. How can Hwang In Yeop even get roles at all?? He simply cannot act. His expressionless robot face and delivery completely ruined this drama. I cringe at every scene he’s in, especially in totally mismatched romantic scenes with Se Hyundai Jin. A good drama otherwise…
