March 30th, 2016 at 6:11 pm

March 30th, 2016 at 10:42 pm

i like JGS oppa! im here to support you! fighting!!!!!!!!!!!!!
March 31st, 2016 at 10:55 pm
@ Timmy…please we dont need your negativity for Jang Geun Suk and others in this drama. After all you have just watched only one episode and you are claiming boredom already…so? Why dont you stop watching already and leave the rest of us to continue to be bored? Just one episode? A good book is never judged by its cover or the start of that book…learn from all i have just said…
April 1st, 2016 at 9:44 pm
anyone? can tell me? the first son of Choi Suk Bin or Suk Bin Choi (what ever) is really not the King`s Son? is he from Suk Bin Choi`s first husband? really? ah..make me comfuse (sorry 4 bad english)
April 2nd, 2016 at 12:01 am
So sad that after a long while JGS chose to do this drama… I’m not really into historical kind of drama… Well anyways even though i am not watching this, i hope your drama will be a good one and good luck on the ratings…
I would have loved to see you in a romance comedy with park shin hye …. Just saying 🙂
April 3rd, 2016 at 10:48 am
Ep 1 & 2
Good, quite entertaining😀
April 5th, 2016 at 7:57 pm
@flower#43: yes, the drama depicts that the consort’s first son is not the king’s but her first husband’s. the king knew about the whole background (watch ep. 3). and so if that son was rumored to have died, the king had no qualms about it. the king’s first son was by his queen (who was later deposed).
i was impressed by jgs in his role in ‘hwang jin yi’ – he was a lot younger then. i think his role here is different and challenging for him and he can tackle it. am starting to enjoy it.
April 5th, 2016 at 11:04 pm
@PearlyPraise… #42 : I never said that I hate JGS or any other actors in this drama. JGS is one of talented actors, along with veteran actor Lee Moon Shik and pretty Im Ji Hyun in Jackpot, I thought this drama could be as good & funny as “light Sageuk” Hong Gil Dong. Well, I watch 3 eps so far with hope it will be better, but i find it too hard to like it. The storyline is too weak. The dialog is dull. Even for pure entertainment drama. … Hmm, i won’t judge a book by it’s cover, but the first page of a book can give you a clue what kind of book you’re reading.

Why the rating are disappointing..how much this value. It’d such good…. I am really don’t understand the people who make decisions of rating >:)
April 13th, 2016 at 3:29 pm
you have to give it to jang geun suk the things he did for his role in the first 6 episodes. no more ‘easy does it’. great!
April 15th, 2016 at 11:48 am
In korean sageuk we have the usual palace intrigue of the palace. In this we have palace one and the common people one. I’m with the common people who always been treated unfairly. Even today we seem to think rich and wealthy hero is much better than the ordinary/poor hero. The world is not fair as they were shown in this drama.
April 19th, 2016 at 3:47 pm
The focus of this story is a prince who must accept his fate as a poor farmer. Until she understands that she is dumped by her brother, she immediately wanted to avenge him. The prince is Dae-gil (Jang Keun Suk) and his brother were greedy throne, Jo Yeong (Yeo Jin-goo). They are the essence of the fight this fight. This drama became prime drama JKS after an absence of three years.
April 19th, 2016 at 5:11 pm
@Vampire Detective #54: it’s either you are on the wrong page or you’re purposely hinting that we watch that series.
April 19th, 2016 at 5:18 pm
the way i understand the last 7 episodes based on the english subs (which may or may not be wrong) i’ve watched, dae gil is not a prince as he is not the king’s son, although his mother is the king’s concubine after he was conceived 2 or 3 months before she came to the palace. yeoning is a prince, as he is the king’s son although his mother is a concubine, unlike his half-brother (the crown prince) who is the son of the king and queen (banished from the palace). dae gil and yeoning are half brothers.
April 21st, 2016 at 12:10 am
up to ep 8, three people want to kill the king. was he really that bad? he is depicted to be very sharp, he seems to know everyone’s vibes, including those wanting to get rid of him. am waiting for more gambling scenes, but the story flow does not warrant such. it’s more on revenge, avenge, let’s see what happens next.
April 27th, 2016 at 5:29 pm
at ep. 10, baek dae gil is now standing on his own two feet. future episodes should show us how he’s going to fight yi in jwa, which brings me to the question: are baek dae gil and yin in jwa actual historical people?
April 28th, 2016 at 4:02 pm
this drama is base on history and fiction. prince yeongsu is suppose to be king sukjong and lady choi first child but he die at a young age (base on history). the fiction is prince yeongsu (dae gil) did not die but was taken out of the palace to protect him from the soron faction who at the time back up hui bin (jang ok jung) and her young prince (crown prince yoon). by the time lady choi had her second child (prince yeongni) hui bin had already lost the king favor. ya in hwa is in fact exist in history, he is one of the two malitary leaders who was elected by the soron rebel faction. if you interested to find out more please go to http://www.theeelsfamily.com/

ep. 12: the half siblings working together. let’s see how much they can accomplish.
May 5th, 2016 at 5:05 pm
@tigerb actually they are brothers not half siblings. they from the same father and mother. daegil is the king’s son. if you read jks latest interview he discuss about his character. that daegil is the forgotten prince who was rise as a commoner.
May 5th, 2016 at 10:30 pm
@anna: i have not read jks interview and synopsis above states that dae gil is a prince. i may have misunderstood what i watched because i read the english subs and do not understand the korean language. like i commented before, the king knew that his concubine was married when she came into the palace, yet snatched her from the husband. the king knew later that yi in jwa orchestrated and manipulated how he met the water maid and fell for her, how he met the gambler husband who is the biological father of dae gil, etc. etc. that’s why she told the concubine to better stop her antics, and she did because it was just easy to get rid of her. when dae gil was born in the palace, everyone referred to him as a prince because they thought he is the king’s son, but there was the doubt how come he was born in 6 months and not 9 months, so they spread the rumor that the baby was premature. then the concubine was put into a corner, so she had to stage that the baby died and asked help from dam seo’s father to get a dead baby and dae gil was given to his real father. the king did not show much concern that the baby ‘died’, he was concerned that the concubine was unhappy. if the baby was really his, why was his stance for the incident looked like it was just an ordinary happening, because he can have as many kids as he want? or because he knew that the baby was not his. i commented the king is so sharp, he knows what’s going on around him, including the plots against him, etc. when the king met dae gil as an adult, he was surprised, because that baby was supposed to be dead, gave him a sword to reward dae gil for deflecting the arrows. if dae gil were really his son, won’t he do something about the long lost prince? in the last episode, the subs introduced the word ‘brother’. i am waiting how the future episodes develop, if my theory above is right or wrong. the thing is, most historical dramas are based on some facts in history, but for the writer’s purpose, some facts are embellished, or twisted, invented, etc, etc. to present a believable story.
May 9th, 2016 at 11:08 pm
wow, it’s really Daebak
i can’t stop watching this. Only eps 12 can stop me because no more next episodes >.<
please help me out of this curiosity for next episodes
May 11th, 2016 at 7:50 pm
@blank #63: eps. 13 & 14 are out.
May 11th, 2016 at 8:13 pm
The repetitive fights against In Jwa makes this storyline narrow and predictable. The female counterparts pop in and out of the storyline without explanation. They just show up and make it confusing to determine which one, if any, will be paired off with the two male leads. There are positives in this. Casting is great. The leads are perfect. Choi Min Soo playing the king is perfect! His strength and charisma resonates even when he only has a few lines each week.He is reason enough to watch the drama. The background music OSTs are on the level of Six Flying Dragons. I wouln’t watch if it was 50 episodes. Definitely, worth watching all 24 episodes for Choi Min Soo and the male leads.
May 12th, 2016 at 7:43 am
People stop writing drama story here … everyone z here to watch drama not to read the story in comments section …. who ever has given bad rating seriously these ppl r dumb with no taste of Korean drama….. all d lead actors playing their role well enough…. who ever want them to b replaced why don’t u guys play the role ??? So that v can make fun of u….. so please give d proper ratings to such an amazing drama…. I really loved this drama especially queen’s acting n king’s sharpness …
May 12th, 2016 at 7:45 am
Who ever does like this drama kojo(get lost )…..,dumb idiots
May 12th, 2016 at 6:43 pm
Someone pls help. Is daegil the king’s son or not? The king believes him to be his son or not?
May 13th, 2016 at 12:50 am
3 reason why i keep going to watch this drama : 1. Whos the villain? The King (the person who steal other’s wife with a dirty trick in gambling game), lee in jwa (the person who want to make a better life for the people in Joseon with whatever effort (wrong or right way) or all of them are villain. 2. who is the final couple of baek dae gil? dam seo (his immature first love that have a connection with his father dead) or sul im (the girl who help him when baek dae gil became a slave), but i am pretty sure one of the girl will die. 3. When baek dae gil knows that he is a son of sookbin coi who leave him when his was child and have a good life in the palace,, how the drama will showing baek dae gil feeling about his mother = really miss her or really hate her. And the last i hope baek dae gil is a son of baek man geum not premature son of the king because when baek dae gil was child, the king tried to kill him. Cant wait the next episode
May 17th, 2016 at 2:16 pm
watch early part of ep. 15 when yeoning asked his mother about baek dae gil as the mother told the truth.
May 18th, 2016 at 8:39 pm
yi in jwa is really something, and poor baek dae gil can’t think clearly with yij lies and manipulations. yij told bdg that the king is bdg’s father. now that he is prison, he’s saying thaek man geum, bdg’s father, is still alive, throwing off his last card so he can get out of prison. bdg is being played by yij big time.
May 18th, 2016 at 8:40 pm
baek man geum, not thaek man geum…..
May 19th, 2016 at 5:08 pm
But i still hope that baek man geum is the real father of baek dae gil,,, cause the whole ep i was watched there is no clue of who is the real father,, the king even try to kill baek dae gill and baek man geum still confuse about who’s baby that,, for the last ep when dae gil met sukbin, i think this scene less emotional than i’ve expected “should be dae gil showed his anger to sukbin choi (why you leave me and my father and now you live in the palace with the king),,, and i think le in jwa right about explain what happen in the past to dae gil,, that’s reality sukbin choi leave his father whenever baek man geum win the last gambling,, and the fact sukbin choi leave dae gil to,,
May 26th, 2016 at 2:53 pm
guess dam seo’s role has to die as there would be no purpose for her if she cannot kill kij. too bad she got persuaded by jeong and changed heart. that’s that for her. i wonder what baek man geum told dae gil that he too seems to have a change of heart to kill kij. the last scene of kij killing the young innocent prince (if not a dream or ‘if’ sequence) would be the last straw for the king, the crown prince and yeoning, but would be a start for a rebellion?
May 31st, 2016 at 1:23 pm
in that episode where dam seo died, i thought moo myung was also killed by kim chae gun. how come he’s alive and was with kij to kill the young prince? did i miss an episode?
June 1st, 2016 at 11:41 pm
ep. 20: of course the king could not kill yeoning because history recorded that the king died shortly and yeoning became king. at ep. 19, the old king was so shrewd: he told bdg to respect the older brother/younger brother relationship as it’s how the world follows, but he told yeoning not to be an enemy nor a friend to bdg. why, a king cannot have his half brother as his friend because he himself probably killed his relatives to rise to the throne?
June 7th, 2016 at 5:28 pm
ep. 21: yeoning killed his brother? the king was dying anyway, but yeoning accelerated the death by giving food, not poisoned, but contra the king’s illness? next episode, please!
June 9th, 2016 at 1:13 am
can’t say anything about this drama.. just one word.. DAEBAK…
the story is really DAEBAK…
June 11th, 2016 at 6:54 am
I was searching for historical information, Baek Dae Gil was a lost Prince , and they can not tell when he died. After he was born or else???. This story is giving us the benefit of doubt. I was thinking, what about if Prince Yeoning died and later replaced by Baek Dae Gil… and kept the name of Prince Yeoning, in the real story of Korea.?????
June 13th, 2016 at 4:27 pm
@Liz: there’s a disclaimer i read that this drama is fiction based on some historical facts. i googled baek dae gil but i did not find anything linked to real history. so i take this drama as fiction. it’s interesting as it is. am waiting how the last two episodes justify the title ‘jackpot’.

it’s lonely at the top. the young king defies his father’s instruction about baek dae gil, after all he has proven that his half brother is not interested to be king. but what went around, came around. the young king killed his brother, so his son was killed. the title is ‘jackpot’ because bdg is a gambler? well, he gambled his life a few times. it’s still a good watch, with the predictable politics.

I absolutely loved this drama! Great story and character journeys. Jang Geun Suk was fantastic and went all. All of the other actors were great too. Loved everything about it 🙂
