The movie depicts the sad and beautiful friendship between two friends: Jong Boon, who was tired of living in poverty during the Japanese occupation, and her pretty and smart friend, Young Ae from the same village, whom Jong Boon adores. They were living very different lives before but one day Jong Boon is snatched by a stranger and her father is taken to a police substation. Young Ae signs herself up asa working girl and the two girls reunite in the train that’s headed for Manchu.
The film retraces the memories of those who survived that period of time through the two girls and remembering the painful past.
