Born in Daejeon, 1986, SHIM graduated from Visual & Performing Arts Department in Handong Global University. Among his shorts are An Unexpected Vacation(2012), (2013) and (2014). (2013) won Grand Jury Prize in International Competition section of the 37th Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival. His third short (2014), about a man who returns to Korea after 13 years abroad, picked up the Special Jury Prize from the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. In 2014, he also made the one-minute short for the Olleh Smartphone Film Festival. His next work, , screened at the Jeonju International Film Festival in 2015.
