She was born in Andong, South Korea. She has a younger brother. She used to be a model. She studied at the Seoul School of Performing Arts. She joined Duble Kick Entertainment on early 2015. She was a former B2M Entertainment trainee and used "Cherry" as her pre-debut stage name.
She was a contestant of reality show Finding Momoland, and thus one of the show winners.
On January 27, 2023 MLD Entertainment announced that all 6 MOMOLAND members left the agency after their contract expired.
