Gilgu (Gilgu Bonggu)

Kang Gil Gu, known professionally by his first name Gilgu, is a South Korean singer, professor and one half of the duo "GilguBonggu". He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Practical Music and Vocal Major from Baekje University of the Arts. He teamed up with Lee Bong Gu in 2006 but did not release any music and instead were only backup singers for many well-known celebrities such as Gummy, Baek Ji Young or Taeyang and served as vocal trainers for idols like Oh My Girl or BTOB. The pair finally made their debut in 2013 with the single "I’m Going Crazy". He is currently appointed as a Lecturer in the Practical Music Department at the Seoul Arts and Practical College and as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Applied Music and Art at the Korea Performing Arts Academy. He married his non-celebrity girlfriend in 2019 and had a son in February 2022. He is currently represented by Trius Entertainment.
