  • They chose Girls’ Generation as their role model.
  • Originally their motto (greeting) would be “Welcome to MOMOLAND”, but it was changed to the current “Get Your Ticket” because it was very similar to that of the group MADTOWN.
  • On the Music Bank special broadcast on May 19 MOMOLAND had a small collaboration with DIA when they performed with the song “Wonderful Love”.
  • The group performed their song “Wonderful Love” mostly at schools and festivals to make themselves known to the public.
  • They have a good friendship with the band The East Light, on June 23, 2017 MOMOLAND performed together with them with the song “Wonderful Love (EDM Ver.)” at Music Bank, they have even made broadcasts together on VLive.
  • His song “BBoom BBoom” made it to Melon’s TOP100, also made it to the international iTunes charts in different countries, #1 on Genie’s video chart.
  • The song “BBoom BBoom” after growing popularity has climbed the charts, reaching #1 on Monkey3, #2 on Soribada, Bugs, Melon, Genie, Mnet and Naver.
  • On January 12, 2018, a major controversy erupted after the Russian group Serebro shared the music video for MOMOLAND’s “BBoom BBoom” along with the message, “The world is slowly plagiarizing Russia’s music” alleging alleged plagiarism of their song “Mi Mi Mi” .
    • In response to the accusations, a representative of Shinsadong Tiger and Beomi Nangi stated, “The introductory portion of the track may sound familiar due to the similarities in genre and guitar riff, but the melody and chord progression are completely different from ‘Mi Mi Mi’. It seems that the misunderstandings arose from the fact that the bass line and 4-by-4 chord progression used in the track are common characteristics of the retro house and electronic swing genre.”
    • The song has also been criticized for allegedly plagiarizing EXID’s “DDD” in its melody and Red Velvet’s “Red Flavor” and Twice’s “KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK” for their similarity in the music video, however, the accusations of plagiarism are incorrect in the case of “DDD” being the same producer and in the case of “Red Flavor” and “KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK” being merely similarities.
  • MOMOLAND has had accusations of sajaegi (manipulation of album sales through mass purchases by the artist’s own agency) when his album “GREAT!” sold around 5,000 copies during the month of January, but more than a month after its release, it sold more than 8,000 copies in one day.
    • In response, Duble Kick added: “We are investigating why the numbers came out that way, but we haven’t figured it out yet. We talked to the distributor, but we didn’t notice any unusual movement. It’s definitely not sajaegi. We don’t have the money to do sajaegi, and we’re not an agency that runs large investments.”
    • Following sajaegi’s accusations Hanteo Chart’s CEO gave statements on February 14, saying that they found no problems with the sales figures: “When we see that the numbers do not reflect actual sales numbers, but rather a bulk purchase from an involved party, we believe aggressive legal action should be taken. As such, Hanteo Chart performed a review of our data processing system in response to a flood of inquiries we received on February 12, and there was no error. On February 13, because suspicions persisted, we contacted the representative of the franchise where more than 90 percent of the MOMOLAND albums were sold and received a response that there were no problems.”
    • On February 14, after an investigation, MOMOLAND’s agency, Duble Kick Company, officially issued a statement denying the allegations of bulk purchases. They explained that the sudden increase in album sales was due to fans buying the album after the controversy had boosted the group’s fame and the announcement that the group would promote in Japan.
    • On February 22, it was reported that Hanteo Chart will file a petition on February 26 to request further investigation into sajaegi’s allegations against MOMOLAND, A Hanteo source stated, “When a sale occurs in a Hanteo Chart authorized store, it is automatically reflected in the listing once the total is calculated in our computer network. After suspicions and controversy arose over the album sales numbers, the store in question was unable to provide clear proof of sales and we came to the decision to file a petition after determining that this incident could cause the public to lose confidence in the charts. There was also concern that it would have a negative impact on the entire music industry if the allegations were not cleared up.”
    • On May 9, it was reported that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism sent an official document to Hanteo Chart on May 2 on the results of its first investigation into the allegations. The Ministry stated in the document, “The purchase of the MOMOLAND album has been determined to be a contract of a commercial nature between the import and export export export company ‘A’ and a Japanese local promotions company. As it would be difficult to see this as being done with the aim of intentionally increasing sales, there is no problem.” Since Hanteo Chart has stated that they cannot accept the results of the investigation, the Ministry allowed objections to its initial findings until May 11. Hanteo Chart responded by requesting that documents related to the investigation be made public, and also requested a detailed explanation of factors such as who purchased the albums from MOMOLAND, total album sales and unit price, and how several thousand albums were transported.
  • His M/V of “BBoom BBoom”, reached 1 million likes on YouTube on April 21, 2018 and on April 23, the music video reached 100 million views on YouTube making it the first of MOMOLAND’s music videos to achieve such an accomplishment.
