Synopsis

Crying In a Butterfly’s Embrace is a film that carries Song Gil Han’s unique emotions. The film is about Hyun Ju, who starts a journey to find her first love, Min Seop. Hyun Ju travels with Sun Ho in a cab only to find that Min Seop has left the town for a temple in Chungcheong-do. Feeling hopeless, Hyun Ju leaves the town after spending the night with Sun Ho and leavinghim behind. As a road movie, it is worth focusing on the method of visualization of the road: the very winding and steep road is an allegory for life’s steep path. The secluded town mirrors the vagrant life of its writer, Song Gil Han. A drunk man who is heading to his daughter’s house, a couple not minding what others think and only into their own world – the intention of picturing the same, simple life style can be noticed in all who enter the same taxi.
