Lee Won Geun acting is good as he acted in Passionate love for young MooYeol. I wish he has a role of the main young lead iso just a short acting for the young role.

I love the main title of this drama without the suffix.
“Wild Chives and Soy Bean Soup”, is just cool. Says it all.
As for the drama, it’s a little mushy for my taste. But what the hey.. it’s Korean. We forgive.

I’m enjoying this one so far, but I like the kids acting so much, I’m going to miss them when they “grow up”!
April 18th, 2014 at 6:26 am
So the family from Busan, they have an accent which sounds similar to most of the folks in Wonderful World.
April 18th, 2014 at 6:27 am
Correction: I meant the drama “Wonderful Days”.
April 18th, 2014 at 7:07 am
Wow! The fallout from Da Hae’s dad’s affair was devastating. The dude’s a real douche. Did he think the World Cup was not televised and cameras don’t zoom in on spectators? I guess not.
BTW Andy, who really gives a f**k about sentence construction in these forums. So long as we are understood.

They din’t telecast it for 2 weeks because of the Ferry accident in S.Korea. The show was replaced by news updates about the accident. Hope they telecast it today. Heard there was a train collision in Seoul today.

Torri @26, it’s still playing. It had been on hold due to the ferry accident in South Korea–extremely sad!!!
There are several sites where you can find this drama. Dramafever is showing it. So far I absolutely love this drama. It’s so engaging.
May 13th, 2014 at 2:31 pm
Sweet!
After the confusion settled it was Joon Soo’s uncle and aunt who suggested the first practical thing to do — call or go see how Jang Gook is doing.
I liked how Joon Soo’s mum responded. True to form; the mother not yet ready to lose her son, jumps under the bed covers refusing to face the reality of the situation.
Oh how my heart aches watching this and yet how sweet it is.

I know this is not a nice thing to say, but I can’t help it….how come Joon Soo doesn’t grow taller but actually shrink! 😀
May 19th, 2014 at 5:47 am
started to love this drama
May 19th, 2014 at 5:48 am
Micc @ 32, I know. It’s really disappointing because he was taller than his uncle, now he’s not. I also don’t like the way the adult JS is acting–kinda silly to me for his age. Young JS was not silly.
May 19th, 2014 at 9:31 am
@Sandy 2 -34
I agreed with you. JS’s personality is not consistent. But I guess since even his build has changed so much, his personality went through a makeover too! Hahaha!
May 19th, 2014 at 9:36 am
So the two families reversed their situations? The girl’s family is now rich and successful. Life is unpredictable!
May 19th, 2014 at 2:11 pm

u can watch it on dramabay.com
May 22nd, 2014 at 9:08 pm
i enjoyed watching the young characters more than the older versions of the characters… the actors were more interesting in ‘2002’. joon soo did shrink.. he was a lot taller than his uncle and his parents when he was in high school… but became smaller than his uncle when he became an adult… they made a mistake in casting the lead role there… that’s why when i saw the adult version after watching their younger days, it kinda felt off… i wish they got a taller actor, more fitting for the actor that played the younger version.. like the adult ham cho looks like the younger version…. even park moo chool is taller than joon soo….
May 24th, 2014 at 10:40 am
@juana love,
Thank you! Gooddrama.net is working now. but will note dramabay website as alternative.
Somehow, when the adults came on the drama, I started to lose interest on this drama.. maybe I love the young characters esp Joon Soo whose dimpled smile is so addictive. The older JS is shorter and face not so pleasant.. well, i have to see a few more episodes to see whether they are as enticing as the young characters.
May 24th, 2014 at 4:19 pm
I have finished episode 1 and episode 2. Okay I will continue to watch episode 3. Now, I’m still not sure whether is it good ? Will continue to watch some more episodes then I can know the answer.
May 25th, 2014 at 11:47 am
@cindy
I think Dramafever has it too.
May 25th, 2014 at 12:02 pm
I have been wondering why this drama is a romantic comedy when the young casts part was so makjang. Now I know, Nam Goong Min is definitely is comedic. But there seems to be a disconnection from when he was young. He used to be so calm and quiet and now he’s totally a clown. A cute one!
Sorry cindy, I only know gooddrama.net and dramafever.com. I watch the episodes without subs.
May 26th, 2014 at 7:07 am
Glad to see Dal Rae raised the issue of the difference in personality of Joon Soo. So I guess there is a reason behind it and not just an overlook from the writers.
May 26th, 2014 at 7:08 am
Dear Admin,
Should we change the poster above to something involved the adult casts now? Just suggesting. 🙂
May 26th, 2014 at 11:27 pm
Oh, thank you so much Admin! XOXO 🙂
May 27th, 2014 at 2:51 am
SO I WAS WATCHING THIS SHOW THIS WEEKEND AND I NOTICE THE GIRL PLAYING Joo Da Hae WAS THE MAIN FEMALE LEAD IN THE DRAMA CALLED Don’t Hesitate I HAD TO GO TROUGH THE CAST ONE MORE TIME TO MAKE SURE SHE WAS THE SAME PERSON BECAUSE SHE LOOKS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT IN THIS DRAMA AND LESS PRETTY THAN WHEN SHE ACTED IN THE DRAMA Don’t Hesitate ALONG Lee Sang Woo, MY QUESTION IS WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO HER PRETTY FACE BECAUSE SHE USE TO BE SO BEAUTIFUL AM THINKING SHE DID PLASTIC SURGERY AND WHO EVERY WORKED ON HER FACE DID A BAD JOB AND JUST SPOILED HER BEAUTIFUL FACE COMPLETELY , WELL ITS DONE ALREADY , BUT I FEEL BAD BECAUSE I REALLY LIKED HER IN THE DRAMA Don’t Hesitate
May 27th, 2014 at 3:08 am
I absolutely loved this drama until the adults appeared. I could almost overlook Joon Soo height change if he wasn’t acting so silly with awful facial expressions. I would rather have a reserved JS that needs to come out of his shell than the immature man we have now. I’m so disappointed–I don’t know if I can continue watching his scenes.
May 27th, 2014 at 2:27 pm
whoever chose the main leading actors should get fired!!!
I had never seen such a gross mistake; from age 18 to age 30 Yoo Joon Soo lost 6 centimeter in hights and his voice changed dramatically.
Jang Gook had a round small face as an 18 yo and hare face become bigger and longer at age 30
May 27th, 2014 at 10:41 pm
Sho @ 51, Okay let’s be realistic. These are not the same people acting the role and they will not look exactly alike. I also don’t expect an 31 year old voice to sound like it did at 19–especially for men. The real complaints I have that the directors and writer have in their control is picking an actor who is at least similar in height and with a similar personality. The adult JS is absolutely clownish and not very considerate. Who forces someone to drink if they don’t want to–I don’t think the younger JS would have done that, especially considering what he went through.
May 29th, 2014 at 5:34 pm
I agree @Sandy. Actually the voice for men remain much the same tonally after adolescence with a progressive shift in the timbre at the low end as one ages. It’s near impossible to match up the voice but things like height and general build with this drama, is unpardonably overlooked.
The adult Joon Soo shrunk by 6cm less in height and a kilo in body mass/weight. If he were in his late 60’s we can accept that change.
The young Joon Soo had a charm, a looseness in his personality reflected in his body language that I’m afraid Goon Min isn’t likely to reproduce though he is a very fine actor.
May 29th, 2014 at 5:47 pm
You know, Goong Min could have gained the extra kilo for the role by building his muscle mass. Wear elevated (platform) shoes and the relevant cast chosen to be around his height. Joon Soo’s best friend towers over him.
May 31st, 2014 at 6:34 pm
Hmm…. Not that the adults have appeared in the show, I am not quite sure how to react.
The younger stars who acted in the show were great and have great chemistry. I can’t say the same for the adult actors. It’s really poor casting that’s spoiling the show.
The mature looking Da Hae looked babyish as an adult.
The babyish looking Jang Gook looked mature of a sudden (we can prolly attribute this to poor cosmetic surgery that she underwent in US)
The cute Joon Soon became goofy and shrunk….
Even Jang Gook’s little bro….
Only Joon Soon’s best friend and Han Cao prolly grew into a more appropriate adult self.
June 1st, 2014 at 3:30 am
I have to say that today was the first time I could look at the adult Joon Soo and not roll my eyes. He had a few moments of silliness, but for the most part, he behaved as an adult Joon Soo would have. It would have been nice if he was a little taller because now he looks about the same size as JG–not to mention the blind date he had to take home.
June 1st, 2014 at 10:39 am
Missing the child actors 🙁 but the adult ones does a really good job also ^^ love the story and all 🙂
June 3rd, 2014 at 4:10 am
Nobody shrinks 6 cm, not even if he’s 70, unless his spine suffered some serious injuries.
June 6th, 2014 at 12:00 am
Still I love the story very much…. hope the team will still keep the story interesting till the last episode… why they just wrapped this to 30 episodes… cant wait to see how janggook will happy with Joonsoo… fighting to the team..
June 8th, 2014 at 12:12 pm
It appears this drama will be cut to 26 episodes due to low rating. I’m really disappointed to hear because the show is now getting interested. http://tenasia.hankyung.com/archives/265335
.
June 11th, 2014 at 7:20 am
Still uncomfortable with the male lead, having shrunk several cm and a major character makeover. He was not like that when he was in high school. The female lead (adult and childhood) was up to task.
June 11th, 2014 at 2:17 pm
why this drama will be cut to 26 episode… I’m not agree with this…
For me it’s ok with male lead, I like drama so much…
when, I watch this drama I enjoy Joon So love Dal Rae, where Joon So Love a girl with diferrent name and face but only one is Jang Gook…
ohhh… really I’m disapointed…
June 12th, 2014 at 11:49 am
I attribute failure for these series to two people: The casting director who cast the ” adult” group and the script writer who messed up the story… Too bad. It could have been a really great story. This one is just stupid. Things don’t make sense and one tends to dislike the characters .. Also, there is no focus
June 13th, 2014 at 6:23 am
Whut? only 26 episodes now? What happend to my 50 episode drama? 🙁 That’s sad beacuse i really like this drama and was hoping to get 50 episodes of it..but oh well then.. :/
June 14th, 2014 at 5:40 pm
Question: Why is Joon Soon so short after 12 years? Couldn’t they find a very tall actor? The actor that was chosen in very annoying!
June 16th, 2014 at 9:04 am
Actually, the height difference doesn’t bother me anymore. Once hey had his stop acting so clownish, I really warmed up to him as JS. I truly have enjoyed the past 4 episodes; however that does not include the mothers–they are all a pain. Nor do I care for Hoonie–he’s a spoilt brat. Why would Halmoni want HC tied to that misery. I really don’t want to mention MC’s sister. This drama would be much better without her.
Lucy Applestone @ 63, I think the script writer is even more at fault. They changed the characters too much and none of them, with the exception of Halmoni and MC, had likeable personalities. No drama can survive if you don’t like the characters.
That being said, I wish they would reconsider 26 episodes. They are going to leave a lot of loose ends. They probably won’t even reveal that JS’ uncle is truly his brother.
June 16th, 2014 at 9:15 am
I think today’s episode, 22, was the best one of the adults. When Joon Soo told JG that he liked her while she was driving was the most touching moment in the entire drama–including the teenagers. Then crazy DH had to appear. I hate that they are ending it now.
June 17th, 2014 at 6:27 am
I miss the accent. Gook’s especially.
June 17th, 2014 at 7:25 am
I agree with everyone about the adult casts’ short comings. However Dal Rae had plastic surgery. Appearance wise she earned a pass by my calculation. Her bigger mouth to Gook-ah’s small mouth is possibly doable in surgery. The roundish face to a longer face is certainly achievable. And the actress captured the demeanour of the young Gook-ah, especially her first words to her mum as Dal Rae. It pretty much sealed it for me. And how I miss that accent.
On the other hand there is no explaining away Joon Soo’s shrinking. We might attribute some trauma as the cause of his personality transformation into a timid dude trying really hard to remember how to have fun. But the writer didn’t give any hints so scrap that idea.
A look at Lee Won Geun’s (young Joon Soo) face tells me he lives a life unfettered by the emotional buffers we put up after earning our scars. Yet I find it difficult to reconcile that innocence with the try-hard adult Joon Soo even if in life such a thing happens.
June 18th, 2014 at 11:59 am
There is always crazy women like Joo Da Hae in k-dramas, and even in reality. What is the point of chasing somebody who doesn’t love you? And to that extent?
June 18th, 2014 at 1:40 pm
I don’t mind about the actors’ height and all… Still the drama is good and interesting…have watched it and never skipped a scene…
Actually, the actors (both young and old) are good in their craft, they have shown how bad their experiences were and must learn from them and try to move on.
The script is not bad.
Fighting!!
June 20th, 2014 at 12:29 am
meaa @71 is right. Same goes to JS. The director has just turned him into a “stalker”.
June 22nd, 2014 at 3:44 pm
Yoo Joon Soo, the problem he had experience made his height short because of chasing gook-ah. i wish upon knowing gook-ah as dal rae today he will regain his height.
June 22nd, 2014 at 3:50 pm
I really love the plot of the story. I always stay late at night just to watch this; and i could not afford to shut my computer down. the casts are all good looking. I wish that the love teams during the junior high times will be realized ..as in living happily ever after.
June 23rd, 2014 at 1:19 am
Just watched Ep 12 and I must say, I like the actor “Mr Woo”. Not sure if the child and adult Mr woo is the same person. If they are not, then this is prolly the best casting in this whole show so far.
In terms of height, the Mr Woo suits Da Rae better.
June 23rd, 2014 at 1:20 am
Oh…. Mr Woo also appears to have a better physique…
June 23rd, 2014 at 11:58 pm
Find funny – felt that Senior Yoo Joon Soo was a wrong match of junior Yoo Joon Soo (taller), how can he grown shorter when older. Senior Joon Soo cannot compared with the designer (their old school mate – gangster, who knocked down Jang Gook and caused her miscarriage.) who came back, tall and handsome (holding the pendant and chain which Joon Soo gave to young Jang Gook during their courtship in school.
June 23rd, 2014 at 11:58 pm

I think Ji Hyun-Woo will be a much better choice for the senior Yoo Joon Soo.
June 25th, 2014 at 10:05 am
In trying to quickly wrap up the drama, the script has turned into a messy plot without any reasonable outcome that can satisfy the audience. Efforts were made to salvage the character of JS but failed miserably. I’m sorry for the guy who has to play the older JS. It could have been a better story – pity.
June 25th, 2014 at 1:09 pm
Duh, just found out this drama got cut short into 26 episodes, so two more to go?! With so many characters and multiple story lines, this is not going to have a satisfying wrapping up of the story, but I guess all eyes will be on who DR ends up with. I won’t be surprised if she ends up with Mr. Woo instead of the male lead, just like her character in The Birth of a Family.
Feel so sorry for Nam Goong Min, who is a fine actor, but is considered wrongly casted (or you can say the young JS is wrongly casted.) due to his physique. And the complete change of personality after he grew up also mess up the flow of the drama.
June 29th, 2014 at 11:38 am
Admin, you have already taken this down? Haha! Yeah, really not much to anticipate with one episode left.
June 30th, 2014 at 1:38 pm
I think they really tried to wrap it up as much as they could. Of course there are still loose ends, like the uncle’s storyline, but overall, they did a good job wrapping up. I particularly like the part where the moms are still fighting with each other but the kids just choose to ignore them. That sounds more realistic than if both parents approve. Well, hope to see the casts in better dramas in the future.
July 1st, 2014 at 12:43 am
it would’ve been a better pair if they made the one who played Mr. Woo the for the role of Junsoo… I find them more effective as a pair… 🙂

Where did you watch wild chives and soy bean soup episode 26 in engsub? @jiko
July 2nd, 2014 at 4:55 pm
Rushed!
July 2nd, 2014 at 4:56 pm
Premature end… left me wanting.
July 2nd, 2014 at 7:54 pm
Namgung min is a very good actor. Watch him in Can you hear my heart. Very good story line and a very strong cast. Unfortunately i think the director did him a dis-service by having him act silly and clown around in the first couple of episodes when he appears. It puts viewers off since it does not jive with the young JS character. Hope to have him cast in a better drama and correct role in the near future.
July 3rd, 2014 at 1:33 am
I love the young actors, they have an air of of innocence, just love, simply and do good to others. The adult actors have so much issues that made them worry thus they act differently. I love the story line how they are each other first love and joon soo fall in love with the same gal for the 2nd time not knowing she’s janggook while jang gook is still in love with him, even after 12years apart. Good drama. Writers keep fighting. You did a good job wrapping it up, wish it is 32 episodes.
July 3rd, 2014 at 9:38 pm
@Eng,
I found that a bit odd as well.. The height issue, but the gangster didn’t cause the miscarriage of Jang gook. She ran out from an alley way and got hit by a guy driving a moped. The trouble maker/gangster was nearby and heard or saw the commotion and went to see what happened. He got there and saw that it was Jang gook, she told him to,take her to the hospital and he carried her all the way to the hospital. He got the necklace from a nurse who asked him to give it to her when she woke up. (It was in a flashback he had in episode 24 or 25) something like that.

Hiphop @88 I agree with you completely. By having him act silly plus the height difference, it just threw some of us off. It was like when the adults appeared we were thrown into a different drama with different people–except the annoying parents that became even more annoying. Once Namgung dropped the silliness, he absolutely stole my heart in each episode he appeared in after that. I fell in love with the adult version of JS and JG and wanted to see more. I wish the writers and Director could have seen that they change was too drastic. I wish they had also made the other adults more likeable…Hoonie, MC’s sister and the mothers were just down right horrible–unlikable. Who would have believed that JG’s sweet brother became so awful. There are no words to described MC’s sister–I just started skipping her scenes.

I really enjoyed watching this show actually all of your shows. There was suppose to be 50 episodes so why did you stop at 26? Me and I am sure there are other people wodike to see the rest of the episodes. Please show all 50 episodes. I did know that you have to rate the shows in order for them to stay on. I will start rating them but not by episode but by show.

Nice story in the beginning, but end up so mess. Love the story when they still young but when they older it become so diffrently. Joon soo younger taller than the older. The character change too, aish i’m so desparate seeing this. I more prefer see the story when js and jg still in senior high school. They have so much chemistry.

As i watched this drama from episode 1 to 12 i was thinking this could be one memorable family and young love drama. Then the adult actors came. Wow, the uncle actually looks younger than the lead guy. And the behavior — the way he looked at the lead woman– has he become a pervert? I think, the best adult for the lead guy is the Ugly Alert lead. People’s eyes definitely don’t change. Also, like many of you said, the guy shrunk. What disease did he have?

I hate to say this but the lead couple look too old fot the 12 years after while the parents and grandmother don’t look a day older from 12 years ago. Too bad i don’t find anything that holds my attention in this drama now so anneyong. Those involved in producing shows should never forget that the viewers are intelligent.

I was waiting for Ep. 27 until I hit this website and noticed it was cut in half. Didn’t like the ending at all. Too many unanswered questions.

Park Si Yeon– the perfect adult actress for Yoon So Hee. She is back and more beautiful than ever!

after watching the drama the first words that came into mind are “that’s it? and oh shit!”I mean what was the writers problem ending it that way,i mean there were so many issues unfinished and left hanging,i was quite disappointed the way it ended 🙁
I agree with other viewers regarding Joon Soo’s character, the adult actor was shorter than the young actor, which was awkward at times,i mean all the adult male actors grew taller but the main actor became shorter, very unrealistic even if the acting is good.I liked it better when they were young it was more endearing compared to their adult versions.

I think the story ended well. The lead actors played their part well. They will have a great future together, but at the same time they will face the reality of family feuds. Fate has brought them back together and fate will help them face the obstacles in life. The test of time can help make their families see the importance of forgiveness.

I’ve just got around to watching this drama. The younger years actors were so MUCH better the older years the family are all nuts and self absorbs, Yoo Joon Soo family is the worst and he himself is so all about his looks and charm, his acting is also bad. Jang Guk still out on her hope she does not get entangled with that nutty family. Go Soon did well for her family, but that son of hers is a disgusting brat.
