    Charlie Says:

    @mitch 1023,
    What, YM died just as someone predicted as in the novel? And died in indignity?
    Now I’m not sure if I want to watch the ending anymore. ;(

  2. 1027
    Charlie Says:

    I finally watched the last two episodes.
    Is the ending as I wished for? No. Is it an acceptable ending? Yes. If YM couldn’t have the throne, then I’d rather him die than live pathetically as in earlier episodes. The dying scene was a little too bloody though, destroyed our handsome prince’s image.
    I think the writer tricked me into some wrong impressions by plotting in something unnecessary and in the end, didn’t give any further explanations or conclusions on those mysterious sayings.
    As I watch the so called “happy ending”, what my grandma and my mom used to say kept popping up in my mind, it’s an old Korean saying, “Only the dead ones are pitiful!” Yes, indeed. Life goes on; people who are alive are seeking or soaked in their own happiness. Is death really a wise choice? Apparently, it is not.

    Thanks for everyone riding the “Moon & Sun” wagon, pulled by an old cow (a little too slow), together; but it has been one heck of a ride. See you all on other boards.

    Jennie Says:

    @mitch and @ Charlie Yang Myung was not killed in the drama but he chose to die simply because there cannot be two suns. If Yang Myung lived, there will always be plotting and people trying to get him to wrestle the throne from Hwon. He did die an honorable death in the end. But what irks me is that the scene was carried out hurriedly and badly. So many soldiers watching and no one even attempted to stop it-so silly. The saddest part was that he was not buried with honours but was just brought back to his mother. That was sad for all his sacrifice :-( I also didnt like the fact that they ordered NK’s death and that the princess lived well in the end. That was so unfair!!

  4. 1029
    KDaddict Says:

    Oh shoot! Why did Yang M have to make such a choice? What a terribly cruel thing to do to his mother! What was Hwon doing w that bow n arrow in his hand? Why didn’t he just shoot down the guy who stood up to threaten YM’s life? Why didn’t Woon go for a preemptive strike? What were all the soldiers doing just standing there? It was all done becos they wanted a heart-wrenching that would give a v dramatic ending by raising the emotions in the 1st half of ep 20 to an otherwise impossible height.

    The story/show has been most unkind to YangM, to Seul, to Woon and to Shawoman Jang. The “fates” or rather the writer has dealt them poor hands. By being born of a lesser mother, YM and Woon were condemned to limited possibilities. By being born of a lower class, Seul and Jang could only devote their lives to the service of others. Ditto for Hyung Sun.

    The only person who “lucked out” was Min Hwa. She was young n innocent when she participated in the voodoo act to kill YW. But after she was all grown up, she did say she’d do it all over again w no hesitation. And she ended up living happily ever after w son n husband. Why? Becos only by forgiving her, could Hwon, Yeom, his son n his mother live happily. So it wasn’t for her sake that YW pleaded w the king to restore her status, but for the sake of those she loved.

    KDaddict Says:

    YangM was killed in that particular want with everyone standing and watching becos the show wanted a heart-wrenching “scene” that would give a v dramatic ending by raising emotions in the 1st half of ep 20 to an otherwise impossible height.
    I get it, but I hate it for YangM’s sake.

    YangM was killed in that particular “way”, with…..

    @ 978 Kimchilee

    Hi, how are you? Long time didn’t see your name and I thought you left this blog……….. So nice to see your name appear again. I sometimes go to Sung Il Gook’s drama & blog to see whether can see yr name but didn’t.

    There will be another 2 dramas with older ladies with younger men. King2hearts & Rooftop prince. But who cares, as long as they look beautiful and can act. I rather have older pleasant lead actress who can act than those young one who are not pleasant or cannot act.

    Hope to see Kim Soo Hyun another great drama with nice lead actress. :)

    mitch Says:

    @1028 Jennie..
    hi, i just wrote “he died” i never emphasized that “he was killed”. anyways it’s the same thing, i’m just disappointed that he chose to die, and the soldiers didn’t do anything for him (of course it’s the directors’/writers’ decision) hehe.. though i enjoyed watching the last episode, still i cannot move on for what happened to JIW.. hehe.. love the ending and the casts are all perfect for their roles.. Good job!

  11. 1036
    Haziqh Says:

    drama yg best , daebak !!!!!!

  12. 1037
    Charlie Says:

    YM’s choice wasn’t kind to his mom, that’s for sure. But If he has to die, I’d rather he dies this way, voluntarily killed by an unknown enemy soldier, then from any other named character. Did the drama reach to a “heart-wrenching” height by YM’s death scene? Yes, in my opinion, but shortly after, all the comical scenes ruined that effect.

  13. 1038
    KDaddict Says:

    Oh writer-nim, METS show-oh-show,
    Would it have been terrible IF:

    Seul saved Yeom’s life; he marries her in gratitude; she takes care of his young son;
    Then Min Hwa comes by to watch Seul living in happiness w Yeom n her son; Now, THAT’d be punishment for her!
    Shawoman Jang performs the ceremony to cleanse the land of evil, n send the departed spirits on their way; she then returns to lead SeungSukKwan, w Jansil by her side; they work to bless the royal couple, the court and the ppl;
    Give Woon a life beyong just standing beside the king day n night. He isn’t a eunuch like Hyung Sun for goodness sake.
    YangM has done his job of rooting out all the rebels; the battle is done; he goes off to live with his mother; n Hwon creates a position just for him: Minister of Social Welfare, to take care of the poor n indigent. Who says his existence would threaten the king? In this uprising, he more than proves his loyalty once n for all. No one would be stupid enough to start another rebellion in his name.

    @Oh Charlie,
    The pt is: He DOESN”T have to die! It’s so upsetting.
    I already knew he died in the book, but I still cried all the way thru that bloody scene of his death. Well, I think they did it for the ratings, and/or emotional impact. :’-(

  14. 1039
    KDaddict Says:

    Please JIW ssi, come back to us soon, in another drama, As the lead, in which you’ll have many many many scenes, of happiness, sadness, anger, fear, jealousy, frustration, etc. etc. etc., so that we can see the range of your acting, and be paired with an actress who is a good match for you, and her char should only have yes for you and you alone. It doesn’t matter if it’s sageuk, fantasy, contemporary, futuristic or time-travel. Is that asking for too much?

  15. 1040
    Charlie Says:

    Your past posts had put me down on hoping a happy ending for YM – because he was born to a non-queen mom so he couldn’t be a king, he was being killed in the novel, blublublu, so I was immune to the bad ending. In other words, I had accepted his death in the back of my mind. You, On the other hand, seem more upset by the ending.

    I totally agree with you. Nicely put. At one point, I thought you had left this boat. I don’t think we are asking too much. ;)

    Mr. Gorgeous, Jung Il Woo, do you hear?
    Although your performance in episode 19 was great, but Return of Iljimae, 49 Days, and Floral Boys Ramen Shop, are so much enjoyable than TMES. So please, no more second place.

  16. 1041
    UEE Says:

    oh! my hero yang myung!! he’s so good looking.
    at ep19, i know that he never betrayed his younger brother. i also wondered whether he would betray his brother.& the answer is totally not!
    he;s gentlemen! love him!

  17. 1042
    takgu99 Says:

    still, this drama also can’t challenge baker king! baker king was absolutely great drama ever!! no. 1 in my life..i think this drama will be better if they change the ending bcome more interesting & they also change the yeon woo feeling..from lee hwon to yang myung!! i’ll bcome more excited! that’s why the rating doesn’t passing the 50 percent! only awesome & amazing drama would passing the 50 percent just like baker king, lovers in paris & many more..drama like my girl also should get the 50 percent..but, i dont know why it cant get it! my girl was rank as 2nd best drama in my opinion! :D
    i dont want to watch it again..i’ll watch if i miss & love again!

  18. 1043
    arrazzaqu Says:

    Oh, I will love this drama so much if only the way YM died is not like that ridiculous as they shown in the last episode. Why should he died like that? Why don’t people around him protected him? If he had to die, make him die properly. I mean, rather than made someone murdered him while people just standing and watching, it will be better if he died in the crowd of war when all people struggle for their own life. It will be more touching and interesting I think. However this drama will be my other favourite Kdrama since all of the casts have done great jobs. And I know Kim Soo Hyun is adorable, but I have to say that I have another favourite character in this drama, I love Jung Eun Pyo, he is sooooo funnny! hahaha… thanks for make me laugh! ^^d

  19. 1044
    kimchilee Says:

    Hi OK3!

    I always see your name around.. read all your good comments.. i have been around just reading through it..but have been very busy and hardly have any time to watch any K-dramas since I last watch Princess Man. Not many dramas i find appealing these days due to maybe the pairings of actors, or the storyline.. but this one looks promising so I had watch a few scenes here and there and waited to know how the ending is like.. looks like a sad ending..now quite scared to watch it.

    I have been disappointed with SIG’s choice of dramas lately, still trying to bring myself to watch his latest drama, Fermented family. Nice? but I am glad his wife will be having triplets! So glad for him!

    Cheers everyone!

  20. 1045
    KDaddict Says:

    Ah, so actually you have me to thank for preparing you for YangM’s bad ending, such that you wouldn’t be too upset. Right? ;)
    Me, tho I knew it was coming, the scene was so well acted by uri JIW, and becos it was Him, sb I love, playing this innocent, honorable, character who was dying a v bloody death, I cried like an idiot. If it was a lesser actor, I might not have cried. And yes, I am feeling the unfairness of that unnecessary n senseless death. YangM deserves better.
    But what I hate the most is that he turned his back to the spear, to commit suicide. He can’t have the girl he loves, so he chooses to die? Come on! Then half the planet would be dead, u know? And he won’t be a thread to Hwon’s throne henceforth. It’s just that stupid “there can’t be 2 suns” metaphor. I knew it was coming, but I think I’m mad at the writer. :)

    I’ve always loved JIW. Oh no, I Never left this boat. As his role in METS is rather limiting in terms of range of emotions n actions, YangM only gets to mope around as a love-sick puppy. It’s hard to get excited abt scenes that only call for such limited n repetitive acting. I was grating my teeth thru out this series regarding JIW playing YM. I think that JIW obviously deserves to play richer chars. But he must have his reasons for choosing to “help out” in this drama. Maybe he owes the producer or director one, who knows. I was trying to be polite, not cursing or jumping up n down abt it.
    In this plot, Hwon is the lone char that is allowed to shine, n KSH has done a wonderful job at it. If JIW had been given that role instead, I’m sure he’d have done extremely well too. So you see, I love both actors. But YangM’s single-tracked mind to pursue YW, not so much!

  21. 1046
    s3 Says:

    I would like to dedicate this comment to Jung Il Woo, who I think is one of the best actors of his time, especially after seeing his performance in this drama. I believe he made YM’s character believable and true. Salute to Jung Il Woo!!

  22. 1047
    Jun Hui Says:

    Is it just me or was Prince Yang Myung invisible??? As much as I love Jung Il Woo, I was rooting for King Lee Hwon all the way, even though I hate the “I’m King, so I can be arrogant and tell people what to do” persona that Kim Soo Hyun took on. Yes he died an honorable death, though they could have made the scene more realistic, but I did not care much for it. I am satisfied, not thoroughly pleased, but nonetheless satisfied with the ending.
    To Kim Soo Hyun, the reason why I first watched Kdramas in the first place, great job playing a character that I hate to love.
    Jung Il Woo, if only Kim Soo Hyun wasn’t the lead.

  23. 1048

    @ 1044 Kimchilee

    My sis manage to finish Fermentation Family bc she is also a great fan of Song Il Gook too n she said the story moves very slow but the scenery is nice. Can watch if u don’t mind the story moves v slow. But I do mind -I only watch abt 4 eps N stop.

    For me, I disappointed with Jae Hee’s latest drama Color of Woman bc lead actress is Eugene but change to someone else which I don’t like. :(

  24. 1049
    OK OK OK Says:

    @1044 Kimchilee

    This drama METS – do not be afraid. Its not scary and its not a sad ending.
    At 1st i hv the same thinking as you bc some comments says its sad in early few eps that I put on hold. But after I came across another group of pp says its not sad….
    I started to watch and enjoy it very very much. At least i don’t hv wait till the end then watch while many pp already enjoying the dramas. hehehe
    The people, the scenery, the costume they wear are all bright, sunny & beautiful. :) :)
    Ep 20, even JIW choose to die in the end, but the producer let JIW appear to Lee Hwon close bodyguard WOON in a suave cheeky manner again why he is happy to choose death as a solution. After that, the drama shows about HGI & Kim Soo Hyun living lovingly happily ever after. This is also what JIW hope for.

    I can say – almost most of the episodes are on the bright side. Not sad at all except ep 1 – a little gloomy. Other than that, all is good.
    Overall, I enjoy it very much. I bet you will fall in love with lead actor Kim Soo Hyun (Lee Hwon) & also Yeo Jin Goo (young Lee Hwon) :)

  25. 1050
    KDaddict Says:

    there is nothing wrong w KSH being the lead, bc he did a bang up job w it;
    it is too bad that JIW played a char that had nothing to do mope, n had nowhere to go but death;
    However, if JIW wasn’t in the show, it’d have been much less attractive to watch.
    Therein lies the dilemma.
