Synopsis

Snowdrop is set against the backdrop of the 1987 Democracy Movement, which was a mass protest movement with the purpose of forcing the then-current authoritarian government in South Korea to hold fair elections. As a result of mass protests, democratic elections were held in December 1987, which would later lead to the end of authoritarian rule in South Korea and the establishment of democratic rule in the Sixth Republic of Korea.

Im Soo Ho (Jung Hae In) plays a graduate student who, after participating in a pro-democracy protest, is discovered covered in blood by Eun Young Ro (Jisoo), a female university student. The girl hides him from the government in her dorm room at her women’s university. However, it is revealed that Soo-ho is not who he appears to be. Against the backdrop of political upheaval, the pair’s story unfolds and the two develop a romantic relationship.

hopefully not just visual …haha… all the best!

  3. 3 : buddymuddy Says:

Like this type of story. This will further feed my curiosity about the fight for democracy in Gwajngju. (Had watched The Taxi Driver. Enlightening drama.) Besides I like the actor, Jung Hae In.

Will look forward to this drama.

Came across news today .. that certain parts of drama regarding historical events are not in line with the facts.

So whats going to happen now? Will screening be delayed or will it be on as scheduled?

  5. 5 : Khikyu Says:

Kenapa skrg cast namanya ga lengkap

  6. 6 : buddymuddy Says:

Latest news reported, inspite of protests re some historical distortion, the drama will continue screening. Good going. But not for me unfortunately. Cuz its being screened at stations I not a member. A disappointment. Especially when I like the story and Actor Jung Hae In. He was a laugh in Prisoner Playbook.

  7. 7 : buddymuddy Says:

There were some serious online discussions between some people who are familiar with the history of the Democratic Movement 1987.

I am glad that I stumbled upon these discussions. Cuz I got an insight into what the Movement was about and why uniformed men were brutal to the protesters at that time. It sure was a sad time indeed.

Now that I know better about the Movement, if I were to watch the show, I would definitely be able to differentiate what is real and what is fiction. Anyway when we watch a k-drama, as viewers, we invariably know that we are not watching a documentary. So would expect a mix of fact and fiction in it.

Moreover, as JTBC had said, if we were to follow the drama unfolds as it makes its run to the end, we will get to realise that the drama is just a fiction after all.

Anyway, whatever, there are obviously two camps to the screening of this particular drama – FOR and AGAINST. Both camps have their valid reasons. So …

    1) FOR the screening … it is hoped that viewers will have the faith of the opposite camp that nothing adverse will result, such as getting their brains re-organised regarding the facts of the movement.

    2) AGAINST the screening … understandably there are still lingering sensitivities and hurts present. However the reality is, maybe its time to let go. How about opening the book and share the story of the Democracy Movement 1987 with the world? Keep the memories in the heart instead. As for distortion of history, have faith in the viewers. Truth will prevail.

Please read the above notes with an open mind. The notes are not meant to offend anybody. They are just my point of view. Nothing political or meant to hurt feelings. My apologies should anyone feel offended. Peace !! ❤

    Thank you.

    Good news :

” The Seoul Western District Court ruled in favour of JTBC on Wednesday, and gave it the green light to continue airing its controversial drama “Snowdrop “.

    @buddymuddy —

Thanks for the update – and happy the drama will continue. Give the writers a chance to do their job.

Good to see Jung Hae-In again.

    You’re welcome.

I am happy too that the drama can continue to screen. But where I am, its not screened yet. Looking forward to it.

Wishing you A Happy New Year 2022 !!

  11. 11 : Sun Flower Says:

    @ buddymuddy –

Jung Hae In is one of my favorite actors.

I have not seen this drama as it is not airing in my area, but quite a few people are as the postings on different websites very high.

Happy and Safe New Year to you also.

  12. 12 : buddymuddy Says:

Actually, I only came to know about Jung Hae In last year when I was watching some k-dramas. I usually do not pay much attention to the cast, but where JHI was concerned, I somehow instinctively felt good vibes emanating from him, telling that he is a good person. Plus, I find him cute !! Hehe !!

As for Snowdrop, I am glad that he’s the lead. Time he gets a big break in his career. I think he suits the character he’s playing. No matter the controversy surrounding the drama, what matters is he should play his character well. This, I can only tell for sure after I’ve watched the drama. I wish him all the best. Fighting !!

Dont really know when will Snowdrop screen over here. So far there have been no “hints” yet from the broadcasting station. I hope it wont be long.

Whatever, I think this drama is a meaningful piece of story telling. Worth waiting to watch.

Hope year 2022 will be a better year for everyone !!

  13. 13 : buddymuddy Says:

News have it that Snowdrop is beginning to get an increase in viewerships. Good news. Hope this trend will continue upwards.

    Fighting, Snowdrop !!

  14. 14 : buddymuddy Says:

Snowdrop’s rating seems to be see-sawing up and down.

Let’s hope, its core of viewers both internationals and locals will not abandon “ship”. Hope they will stick to it till the end.

Viewers, I am sure the story is a good one. A unique romance between a spy from the North, and a student from the South, in the midst of a students’ unrest. Its not everyday that we come across such an interesting romance.

Let’s sit back and enjoy watching the show. Fighting, Snowdrop !!

  15. 15 : AreJee Says:

lol @ buddymuddy, “I am sure the story is a good one”.In my opinion it is not, the plot is getting boring. Every viewer will decide on their own if they like what they are watching! Abandoned “ship”. Dropped…

  16. 16 : Weng Says:

at I first hesitate to watch this drama but now I watching 11 ep I love the story its a must k drama to watch for ..

I’m sorry you did not like the story.

You misunderstood me. I was only asking, not deciding that you should watch. Nobody is forcing you. Oh gosh !! How warp can a thought be ? How old are you ?

When I asked, I was only hoping to garner more support for the drama, considering the rough start it has had.

I was not pushing “my decision” down your throat. The answer is this simple.

To each its own. Different strokes for different folks. I for one. Love this drama’s story.

We sure are different people, dude. Obviously, we have different outlook in life.

Next time, please go punch a tree instead when your thoughts start to take a warp turn.

    Have a nice day !! ❤

Glad to know that you like Snowdrop.

Snowdrop might be slow moving. But in the process a lot of details will not be missed. That’s where you can feel and see more of what the story is trying to convey. Enjoy !!

Snowdrop is a drama for mature people with an open mind, not for cloistered old people with a kid’s mentality. (Shows such as Spiderman, or animated tv ads are more for them, dont you agree?) Hehe !!

    Have a great day !!

  19. 19 : Mauly Says:

I love the chemistry between Hae In and Jisoo! Something that I look forward every weekend. ❤️

  20. 20 : meirav Says:

next week it is finished time goes by so fast
