i’m not done with ‘hwajung’, am partly watching ‘yi san’, and if i should watch this at the same time, i would be confused jumping from one drama to the other, still thankful to be learning something of korea’s history, although knowing depictions are twisted a bit for dramatic purposes. guess i’ll finish the other two first.

October 7th, 2015 at 11:23 pm
This drama is getting interesting..! Kim Myung Min is really great as Jung Do Jeon! I feel like want to sing along with him, what an outstanding act in the end of ep 2! Sing along with fire in his soul & tears in his eyes! I think SFD will reach a new level of a saeguk, way more better than previously saeguk I’ve ever seen.
October 7th, 2015 at 11:56 pm
just watching Empress Ki, then i jump to this historical drama. make me compare this two and i ended up love one after another. Six flying dragons is brilliant, while Empress Ki seemed like an average romance K-Drama. I hope there will no cheesy romance in Six flying dragons, just like Dae Jang Geum there’s just a little romance but it still great and heartwarming. I ‘m bored to death with unimportant childish love/flirting scene. I need more action or smart political strategy. that would be nice, hehe.

October 17th, 2015 at 10:38 pm
I just watched this drama for yoo in ah but seriously this drama hooked me waiting for next episode …..
October 21st, 2015 at 8:34 pm
Daebak! I’m not watching this drama because of Yoo Ah In just like anyone else. Nah! Seriously, I was a little bit dissapointed when i heard his name in the cast as king Taejong. Nam Da Reum as young Lee Bang Won is a good choice, he’s a talented kid. I don’t say Yoo Ah In is not talented, but can he become Taejong who have a very strong personality? But I have hope Yoo Ah In can play his role well since it’s just 6 episodes yet. The main reason i’m into this drama is Kim Young Hyun & Park Sang Yeon. What another great story from two great writers!

the best.. the best.. the best drama ever !!!!!!!!!
October 29th, 2015 at 5:57 pm
If anyone like to watch this type of historical drama without any comedy or romantic scenes. You should check out the Chinese version of “Three Kingdoms 2008”. This drama has a total of 95 episodes and cost US$17 million dollars to make. I’d say the best ancient drama to date.
October 31st, 2015 at 7:27 am
Your characters are such a spoilers!!! >.<
November 3rd, 2015 at 4:35 am
This drama is totally different from the school days whereby, I used to study the history of China . I used to study history of China during the Qing Dynasty whereby, the emperor ruling very different from the history of Korea .
This drama is very suitable for me by giving me an opportunity to know about the history of Korea . And I hope that this drama is really following the real history of Korea .

This drama deserves to be “Drama of The Year”. The writers are so genius !. I really can’t predict what will happen in the next episode, It makes me so damn curious every week !. And the story is only for audiences who wants to think hard, because it’s a little bit complicated (but I like it). 🙂
November 29th, 2015 at 5:30 am
me love dis movie, actions, romance everything is great. love u yoo ah in (hyung) and shin se kyung(unni)
December 3rd, 2015 at 1:24 pm
SFD is a political drama, just like Secret Door. But it’s far better than SD thanks to the writers. I love all the characters, even the antagonist like Gil Tae Mi or Lee In Gyum. They remind me of nowadays politicians. It’s all about strategy, not merely good and bad. It’s politic. No, this drama is not too complicated (at least for me). You don’t have to think hard to follow the story, because it happen everyday in the world as daily written in newspaper. Its just a realistic story with a few dramatization. SFD reminds me of Robert Harris’ novel: Lustrum which depicted Cicero’s political journey. Both SFD and Lustrum are not intended to make the viewers/readers think hard, but rather to put us in a fun & exciting “rollercoaster”. That’s made SFD special.

daebak drama ! i really like yoo ah in and yoon kyun sang, fighting oppa! saranghae :))))
December 5th, 2015 at 1:41 am
I absolutely loved this drama. Kdramas usually drag at certain parts of the show around after 7 or 8 episodes but this drama has just kept me moving, kept me excited even up till now — at ep 18. I am so eager for the next ep. This is definitely the best production ever and i must say the way the pace sets for each scene and event is perfect. Timing is just right. I get information and anticipation at the right time. Kudos to them storywriter and producer especially.
As for actors, Yoo Ah In is definitely a talented man. He is among one of the best amongst the young and are comparable with veterans who took the roles of choi young, hong in bang, jung do jeon. The veterans too have made this drama very exciting. Interesting characters. Hope this pace persist on up till the last ep. If it does, i personally think it will supercede the quality of Dae Jang Geum and Empress Ki.
Looking forward!
December 5th, 2015 at 1:44 am
Further to my earlier comment, i must also really award the veteran who acted as gil tae mi and his twin!! He is interesting and awesome too!
December 8th, 2015 at 2:00 am
why do I keep wishing there is a love line between Lee Bang Won and Min Da Kyung?
December 9th, 2015 at 8:27 pm
@Patricia : By the way, Dae Jang Geum & Six Flying Dragons written by the same writer. There’s a big difference between Six Flying Dragons and Dae Jang Geum/Empress Ki. I think Dae Jang Geum & Empress Ki are written for female audience, in the other hand Six Flying Dragons is for male. I love all of them, but for me Dae Jang Geum is the best so far (with all that colorful foods, beautiful sceneries, beautiful hanboks, enchanting soundtracks, etc etc ..and the talented Lee Young Ae!). Six Flying Dragons is great too, but it’s opposite to Dae Jang Geum, it’s more manly and too much politics for girl audience.
I’m not a fan of Yoo Ah In, but now I can say that his acting as Lee Bang Won is cool. But Byun Yo Han is the one who steal my attention since the day one he appeared as Ddang Sae. About the veterans, hands down to all of them.

@nuam : me too, i wish loveline between bang-won and da-kyung.
December 11th, 2015 at 5:32 am
please no more love in the air, dear writernim LOL! This is revolution! Make War, not Love!! I’ll leave SFD if it turned to be a teenager’s idol drama!! seriously!! :p
December 12th, 2015 at 12:11 am
I agree with u @Timmy.the drama is better off without the romance.the reason the drama is so intriguing is becos of the political aspect nd the romance part.pls writernim,u can do without worthless romance cos it’s the political aspect that draws the audience in.
Pls,stop the Ddang sae/yeon hee,Bang won/boon yi dragging plot.cos the plot is better off without the romance part
December 21st, 2015 at 3:47 pm
@dramakid: yea, but thanks God the writers keep it in the the right track until now. romance is needed in a drama, but it’s not the main theme in SFD. So why need it more? Lee Bang Won & Boon Yi are just holding hand in hand, staring & smile to each other, and Min Da Kyung show no such a dramatic jealousy to tell the audience about how her feeling. That is all we need, if not so we have to watch ladies’ sageuk such as Empress Ki or The Moon that Embraces The Sun, not SFD lol. Even The Great Queen Seondeok that has a tragic love story between Deokman and Bidam never drawn to such a ridiculous cheesy romance. Let alone SFD, I hope.

Prepared your heart for the next episode cause if the story is base on the true history jung do jeon will die by lee bang won hand after lee seong gye became king Taejo.
January 21st, 2016 at 5:08 pm
Wth with the kiss? so unnecessary. Maybe it’s only fan service? since the bug inside Lee Bang Won’s head begin to swallow him and it’s the last piece of his human heart doing that to Boon Yi before it’s completely gone? Btw, i felt nothing. IMHO, the big reveal of Yeon Yang as Moo Myung leader is unbelievable and anticlimax. I knew it’s fiction based on history, but please, make it believable! Too many surprises can killed a good drama. Enough with Cheok Sa Gwang, it’s shocking but in a good way. In the other hand, The fact of Yeon Yang as Moo Myung leader isn’t make any sense at all, or maybe because Jeon Mi-Sun is not the best choice to play Yeon Yang. Why do the writers reveal Moo Myung too soon? It could be good if it remains mystery untill the end of this drama. It’s latent organization since Silla era, why is it easy to reveal by Lee Bang Won alone? If that kinda nameless organization was really exist, i believe Lee Bang Won was one of its pawn.. but maybe a special pawn that hard to handle. But anyway, I can’t wait the day Lee Bang Won kill Jung Mong Joo or Jung Do Jeon. It could be one epic & tragic scene ever. I can’t wait the day Bang Won completely turned to be a political monster, a truly machiavellian prince..

I’m really disappointed with Jeong Do Jeong..how can he betray Lee Bang Won like that? Only because LEe bang won killed Poeun…Didn’t he kill for the safety of Jeong do jeon…??? He really did not know to appreciate the feelings of lee bang won…..
February 18th, 2016 at 7:28 pm
When I read the history through internet I thought this is going to be rough. But when I heard the same writer who wrote the script for the Empress Ki, I got some hopes he’ll do this job great as before.
Actually even with this whole political scenes this drama is so awesome. I have faith in the ones who’s doing this. Hope for the best till the end.
Because so far it’s so awesome.
Hope Yi bang won and Lee Ban Ji worn’t fight with each other.

How the writer made us hate Jeong Do Jeong and make us take Yi Bang Yon side is so awesome.

Sam Bong and the Emperor did not learn to show appreciation to Lee Bang Won when he helped them the most to start Joseon. He was humiliated and their actions labeled him as untrustworthy! Making a child crown prince when a smart talented older brother was willing was the first step towards disaster. It took almost 8years after Joseon was formed before Lee Bang Won killed Sam Bong. They under estimated his intelligence and his connections. Moo Yung will do the same. Only 4 remaining episodes! Missing this drama already.
March 9th, 2016 at 3:52 pm
I actually want an extended script of this drama..
Oh pretty please… I dont like that the last 4 episodes would be rush ones as there are still events in the history that i want being portrayed…. the 1st and second strife… maybe till bang won took over of the crown as the king..
Am I too much? LOL
Im just so hooked with this drama..

Too many questions in my mind. Lee Bang Won is a pathetic boy with emotional problems… or just too pragmatic? What with tears in his eyes when he facing his father the king after he kill his brother? What with Boon Yi’s flat reaction in every emotional moments in episode 48 (or it’s just Shin Se Kyung acting problem)? I wonder why Sambong & Lee Bang Ji said Lee Bang Won & Sambong have the same path? (In the real situation, Lee Bang Ji wouldn’t say that! but yeah, it’s a drama.) The fact is: Sambong vs Bang Won = Democracy vs Absolutism! No matter Lee Bang won as a king still kept Sambong’s ideas, he and Sambong are different.
Despite all that, I still love this drama. 50 episodes is too short for me LOL

The best drama ever.
I started watching this drama because of Yoo Ah In.
Then thought to continue watching it after watching first 2 episodes because I thought the story will be interesting. Because it showed me the courage of the people.
And just when I thought this is going to be a completely political drama, Lee bang Ji entered to the scene.
And I continued to watched it for his awesome swordsmanship and fights. And then I really started to like the plot too.
Then some how I really wanted the general to win. And at the same time I was inspired of the Yi bong wons incredible ideas, mind and craziness. And I started to like Sambong too.
And when general YI became the king, I was totally on Master Yi bang wons side.
And finally at the end of the drama Moo Hyul became my favorite charactor. 😀
It’s amazing how his character has grown.
What a AMAZING drama. The best K-Drama ever.
It really gave me goosebumps.
Amazing story, production and directing.
Great casting. And acting.
Well done. 🙂

it’s a very good dramatization of the last years and fall of the goryeo era. it followed more on the life of yi bang won, from his childhood up to the time he became the third king of joseon . as king he implemented changes for the benefit of the people but I don’t give him full credit as the ideas, plans and reforms were brilliantly created by jung do jun in preparation for the new country, that ybw’s father was to be the first king. his father and jdj had acknowledged and thanked him for his many efforts in establishing the new country but he was not given the highest position and power he wanted, which frustrated him terribly. i think the new king and jdg knew that kbw had a different mindset than what was planned and could only jeopardize the fledgling country. killing jung mong joo, who wanted to retain goryeo was a reason, then kbw followed it by killing his half brothers jung do dun. since he was not in favor of jdj’s dream of ‘check and balance’ method of governance, kbw killed more people who he considered enemies, true or not. he did not have any compunction when he purged as he liked. he wanted and was greedy for absolute power when he became king. in the drama, as a young guy he was astounded by jung do jun’s brilliance to have such a great plan that’s why he followed him at first. but he did not give him the honor jdg deserved when he became king. i think it was because he was envious and jealous because his father relied more on jdg and was given so many titles in the court. what kbw failed to understand that at foundation process one cannot rely on people who do not know, who had other ideas, or people who are not agreeable to the plan because those people prefer status quo. he killed jung mong joo much earlier than jdj but kbw gave him honor, why? because he promised a spy would serve him when chaos had come to pass that jmj would get an honor? what an irony when his reason for killing jmj was that goryeo people wanted to kill his father. his father aptly described kbw’s ugly atrocities when the king was about to strike kbw. it would have been a different history if the king killed his son, as his other sons were not ‘king’ material.
the title of the drama is ‘six flying dragons’, three of which were historical personalities. were moo hyul, boon yi and lee bang ji created characters? how about cheuk sa gwang and moomyung? i pitied the last goryeo king who should have listened to his own words when he first refused to be king; and the young princes who were crowned king and crown prince who were puppets in the political arena.
it was a great watch, did not mind the number of episodes as the writing was superb.
June 29th, 2016 at 3:19 pm
@admin: yeon hee is listed above as jung du jeon’s wife. in the drama, yeon hee was not jdj’s wife, but a double spy who supported jdj’s plans and reforms, doing errands here and there for him. jdj saw that she and lee bang ji had feelings for each other, even suggested that lbj and yeon hee get married, but she died when taken as a bait for lbj to be away from jdj so yi bang won could kill jdj.
