(@something from admin: Thanks for inform us. We just update the details. Please take a look.)

  14. 14 : Micc Says:

Wow, didn’t know the rating is so high. Judging from the first 4 episodes, totally deserve it! Much better than Rascal Sons in my book.

  15. 15 : GirL_KicK_AsS Says:

I really love all the dramas of Lee Bo Young…too bad Kim Ji Hoon dropped this drama…it wud be nice seeing him again after his discharged from the military…

  16. 16 : kel Says:

This drama is so fast paced, the storyline cuts so fast that you have no time to think. It’s sad that the family is so poor and the siblings have to work so hard and yet Park Hae Jin as Lee Sang Woo can still smile so happily and it shows that he really is cheerful.

Something happen to this family and it’s so damn sad. No wonder this drama can get so high rating. I dont want to spoil the plot, but this drama is different, it certainly gets my hope up and a really good drama.

  17. 17 : something Says:

this timeslot always have high rating no matter what the drama that shown just track back past drama on this time slot all of them surpass 20% easily almost in first 2 episodes, the reason is there are no drama air in this time slot SBS and MBC air news instead of drama, with only the timeslot this drama have guarantee surely will gain 20% more

  18. 18 : Micc Says:

I am already re-watching the first 5 episodes. Can’t wait for the weekend to come. Just hope this can carry on going forward and not fall into the good opening bad ending category.

  19. 19 : rose Says:

@something 17: thanks for the info. i’ve wondered why “ojakgyo brothers” had a very high rating when that series was just “so, so”, meaning nothing impressive to me. i was new to korean dramas then. although “unexpected you” followed the time slot, i enjoyed that, it had comedic parts based on family life. so, kbs can schedule any drama there and it would be a hit?!!!???

  20. 20 : Jennie Says:

@Micc Hi glad to see you here. Just started watching this on cable. Pretty good and was wondering about the progress. Now that I know you like it, I’ll continue watching 😀 Thanks.

  21. 21 : Hay Says:

    Great drama

  22. 22 : Micc Says:

Hi Jennie, glad to see you here! Why I fully enjoyed the first six episodes, episodes 7 and 8 kinda fell back into the typical KD pattern and I didn’t care for it too much. It’s a long 50 eps drama so let’s see how it plays out.

What else are you watching? I’m watching Madame Butterfly (very funny), Ohlala, VP2, Third Hospital. Faith and Arang. Can’t wait for The Great Seer! :-)

  23. 23 : Micc Says:

I meant ‘While”, not “Why”. Hahaha!

  24. 24 : something Says:

yup, all kbs drama in this timeslot surely will be a hit

  25. 25 : Jennie Says:

@Micc Hi, am at Episode 4 on cable. Subs are pretty slow online. So I’m just gonna catch this whenever I can. Cable offerings are pretty good these days so I am watching Faith and My Daughter, The Flower from there. Also watching Arang, Five Fingers, Nice Guy and May Queen. Pretty heavy stuff cos they are mostly melos or family dramas :-( The one I am most looking forward to is needless to say, (✿◠‿◠) I Miss You (Micky & YEH!!!!!) (✿◠‿◠) and 2 others ie The Winter The Wind Blows (Jo IS & Song HG and Secret Agent (Joo Won). Hope to see you around on these threads once they are released 😀

  41. 41 : kdfan Says:

The dramas in this KBS time slot is always so good. Love LBY – my favourite actress although I didnt quite like her character in Equator Man. This is my first Lee Sangyoon drama. He is great! I like LBY’s character here. It’s not the usual poor but sunshine girl. I like that she has hardship written all over her face and she has no energy nor reason to show the world otherwise. Wish the subs are done faster. Can’t wait for ep 7.

  42. 42 : @Leeda961024 Says:

I really like this drama. Don’t really know why. The plot might sound boring, but when all the characters go together, it just feels right. And the casts are doing a wonderful job!

  45. 45 : F.Ids Says:

So far i watched 3 episodes. And i can say that the ratings are justified. It’s a classic familial drama. I really like it.

    @ Micc
i agree with you. The plot is really boring, but the drama is actually really nice. Even if the main girl should smile sometimes.

I don’t know why family drama aren’t that popular abroad. Family dramas are the best

  46. 46 : LJS holic Says:

The main couple are very suitable on their respective role!!! Jongshin chingu’s acting is daebak!!!

  54. 54 : something Says:

watching this drama and it was really good at first but after ep.10, that was very slow and because main couple already married i dont have something i excited about anymore, except need to prepare some tissue for scene about the father, the triangle love story irritated me, also dont have interest with the maknae son birth secret or whatever his story about, i drop this drama will see what happen if it get interest again i will watch it again

  62. 62 : bensalinakino Says:

This drama has been the undisputed No. 1 Korean drama for 20 episodes now. How I wish the English subs could be done a little bit faster. So far, 8 episodes with English subs have been uploaded in dramacrazy. Thanks to the subbers and the uploaders. Very much appreciated by Koreanovela lovers like myself from the Philippines.

  63. 63 : LBY Says:

    dramacrazy – ep1-8 (eng sub)

  64. 64 : kdfan Says:

i re-watched ep 1 to 10 three times bec the way Ujae fought his way into Seoyoung’s heart was so so so romantic. their acting was so good. i wish they will get best actor and actress at the year end award but i think they may not stand a chance against the more successful shows like My Husbnd’s Family and Nice Guy.

  65. 65 : Micc Says:

I really like the first part of this drama, up until she lied about her father and got married. Then everything sort of went downhill for me.

  66. 66 : mauricia Says:

I just hope she relaxes little bit. I’m up to episode #10 an the Seoyeong characther is still pretty stiff and dry…never showing any emotion. Hooray for Ujae, most guys would have given up by now, I almost gave up watching it. But I’ll keep on watching to for now.

  67. 67 : HK Says:

The boring title puts me off and I ended up watching Nice Guy, Rooftop n Faith which couldn’t keep interested n I stopped after a few episodes. But this is different. IT kept me hooked on for 2 nights. The starting seemed ordinary at first but the whole script, dialogue of all cast were very realistic n drawn me into it. Of course I love the main couple n later Seo Keong brother n GF , I late appreciate the mother in laws story. Such realistic picture of many old married couple, ESP those with busy, successful hubby or hubby who have fallen tired of the wife. Amazing script n cast. I am surprised it’s not in the top list. I have voted for it to be tops. Hopefully the later episodes will be richer with the main couple n not be draggy )

  68. 68 : torri333 Says:

i just watch ep 8 i get why she says she has no dad, she never said she was an orphan they all assumed because she said she had no dad it meant she was an orphan , seeing her personality i know this will be her answer when they find out she does have a father , i mean her dad is a loser for real seeing how hurt she is , i dont blame her , i mean who leaves his wife at home to gamble all day ,

  69. 69 : Micc Says:

I just don’t get it. He used to love her like there’s no tomorrow, and now he discovered her lies, without even trying to find out the reason behind it, he just totally rejects her! Doesn’t make sense, unless he is bipolar!

  70. 70 : kdfan Says:

@Micc i havent watched ep 21 onwards. u mean Ujae rejecting Seoyoung or Sangu rejecting Migyeong? If it’s Ujae, i agree it’s quite unbelievable and i am disappointed with the writer to split the couple just to stretch the story until they reconcile. It’s unbelievable just bec Ujae has been as u said loving Seoyoung like there’s no tomorrow. It already unbelievable from the beginning that he could accept whatever she was hiding, waiting patiently for her to tell him when she is ready.

Anyway, I was getting tired of Seoyoung living with her lie. I’m switching my focus to Sangu and Hoejong. I know many are shipping Sangu and Hoejong but somehow I hv a soft spot for Hoejong although she is also unbelievably naive and pure.

  71. 71 : ptsh836 Says:

    @Micc, @kdfan:

i believe its lee sang woo rejecting kang mi kyung n not kang woo jae rejecting lee seo yeong…

LSW was totally shaken when he saw n heard KWJ speaking to KMK on d phone n then it dawned on him how they were related! for a while, he was like a zombie coz there’s absolutely no way out for their relationship since KMK is d sis-in-law of his sister, LSY…

i think its not bcoz of d lies that left him numb n shocked but knowing that this is as far as they will both go in their relationship as there’s truly no future for them after this truth was revealed.

there are several characters that i like in dis drama n they are: kang woo jae, the perfect husband material; naive, cute, patient n understanding…
then there’s choi ho jung, d innocent, sweet n clueless stalker of LSW, always acting considerate, hopeful n full of warmth in her pursuit of cold n self-centred LSW… i also enjoy the acting of kim hye ok who is d mother of KWJ…forever jealous of LSY, childish n immature!

i do not really like LSY’s cold n manipulative character in this drama coz she’s too selfish n uncaring towards her dad…she goes on to disown her father in order to find happiness with KWJ even at d expense of abandoning her bro, LSW… i also dislike d way she goes abt telling ppl detrimental to her happiness to jus disappear viz her school fren, d lawyer’s secretary n even her own bro…she wants him to move away fr his current hospital in order to safeguard her secret!

altho she may have acquired material gains thru this marriage, you can see she’s not at ease nor 100% happy in her new life…she’s always on edge n stressed n all this is bcoz she’s burdened with guilt over her selfish actions.

  72. 72 : kdfan Says:

@ptsh836 this korean unwritten law of not allowing inlaws who are not blood related to marry is still a little too extreme for me. Sometimes i can’t feel their pain bec I can’t accept that reason as a reality. So i am not sympathetic that Sangu n Migyeong will break up. I get frustrated watching Seoyeong bec she is getting too pathetic n selfish. I actually hope ujae will give her hell when he finds out about her lie. I think Ujae’s father is an interesting character too. He can be quite funny with his comments about his wife. My favourite character is Ujae for his persistence and gallantry in pursuing Seoyeong and great acting the first ten eps. But now its a little boring with his homey scenes.

  73. 73 : bidam Says:

i have noticed lee bo young since ‘save the last dance for me’. :-p she looks so smart and chic as like hollywood star rosamund pike. i wanna know how did she make it in this series as a poor woman.

  74. 74 : ptsh836 Says:

@kdfan: you know, you can really learn a lot abt korean culture fr their dramas…the first time i was exposed to kdramas, i couldnt believe how traditionalist koreans were altho their country is very progressive….it was hard to come to terms that they have achieved economic success while still desperately hanging onto their age old customs like proper honourifics accorded to elders in their homes or seniors/fellow workmates in the office…

so, in this case, if LSW marries KMK, LSY will have to address her bro as bro-in-law n vice versa for LSW; in most kdramas, this type of union is frowned upon n usually ends up nowhere…to us, it seems like its no big deal but not so to koreans, i presume!

as for whether KWJ (ujae) will give LSY hell ovr her lil’ white lie…i dun think it’ll affect him very much…coz he had already triumphed n won his battle in breaking LSY’s icy wall n he was very much aware how jealously guarded LSY was abt her past n her background…i think he wont be shocked, that’s all.

i like d way KWJ is getting to know LSY’s dad…its very heart warming how well they treat each other, not knowing that they were related n all…

  75. 75 : Chris Says:

I want LSW and KMG together I like their relationship. CHJ is annoying to stalkerish for my taste

  76. 76 : nomeames Says:

I hope Sang Woo will give his heart to Choi Ho Jung. Ho Jung always lived in loneliness, must suffer unrequited love…., she have pure heart. Kang Mi Kyung has mature, taft and colorful life is perfect if by Prof. Choi (Choi Kyung Ho) who has long been widower and lonely.

  77. 77 : Bj davenport Says:

Is it traditional for the married children to live with the parents of their husband? How long do they stay in the inlaws home? Is it the culture for the parents to select the children’s mate and to be so controlling or is this just theater?

  78. 78 : JP Says:

In Esp 20, HJ went for a blind date. The guy she met…I hope the character will be kept alive in the subsequent episodes. He is good looking and suits better for HJ. The parting advice from the guy to HJ was not to go for any blind dates again. So, I really looking forward to see him blossoming into something with HJ.

  79. 79 : ptsh836 Says:

    epi 23:

omg…LSW is one real headstrong character here; he’s unshakable in his decision to break up with KMK n d way he brushes CHJ aside is simply too hurtful n cruel…calling her disgusting n scary; a stalker n many other hateful adjectives…im waiting for d day d tables are turned against him n will relish seeing him crawl back to win CHJ!

i enjoy CHJ’s very excellent acting in this epi…d way she’s too afraid even to look LSW in his eyes, d trembling of her hands when she grabs her cellphone to call KMK when their plans to retain LSW for KMK’s sake was in disarray n how CHJ’s eyes brimming with tears was not enough to move a stoic LSW…i wonder what will it take to make them both end up together?? mayb in the end, CHJ’s sincerity, honesty n unabashed attempts to win his heart will work its magic when everything else fails….=.=”

  80. 80 : Micc Says:

    @kdfan @ptsh836

Hi, so sorry I couldn’t respond earlier, I was in the hospital and just got discharged a few days ago.

Probably you guys have caught up with the episodes by now. The one I was talking about was Woo Jae rejecting Seo Yeong. He is torturing her right now. He found out about her lie, but couldn’t bring himself to ask her about the truth, so he is torturing her. I don’t like this part. I know what Seo Yeong did (lie) is wrong. She had her reason, but it was wrong nonetheless. However Woo Jae fell in love with her at the beginning thru his own projection of who Seo Yeong was, he didn’t really understand the real her. Now he found out the truth, and instead of asking his wife of three years, he just decided to reject and torture her. What is wrong with this guy???

  81. 81 : ptsh836 Says:

@Micc: sorry to hear you were unwell…hope ur fine now.

im jus a lil’ curious…where did you watch this drama which is way past what we are watching now. epi 24 is mostly abt KWJ discovering LSY’s secret by him doing his own investigation work n boy, was he shocked n disillusioned!

i thought he would accept anything that comes with his beloved wife now that they are already 3 years married…i was wrong! KWJ is not a simpleton; he is way too much a stickler for law n order n honesty in his life…he’s a super freak in terms of having things done perfectly, without a speck of blemish n yes, he truly is obsessed with being righteous n upright n everything else has to be 100% perfect…

he is now secretly feeling disheartened ovr his perfect wife, i wonder if he can overcome this great shock eventually…

as for CHJ, after being branded an idiot n a psycho by LSW, she has decided to give up on her love for him…instead she is encouraging KMK to persevere in her quest for LSW’s love…

  82. 82 : no0ct Says:

what the hell is the lead actress doing ? the girl is driving me nuts with her lies and secret , well i wont be suprise if her husband sends her parking , i cant believe she by pass her brother at the hospital and acted like she did not know him right at that moment i hated her now am only watching to see her twin brother finaly fall in love with the childish funny sweet girl , , the main lead actress can go to hell and i am sure the reason she has not been pregnant is because her mind is not at peace ,

@noOct Her name is Seolhyun, member of the new group Ace of Angels (AOA) who debuted in August this year. This is her first drama. Jungshin (Seongjae) and Seolhyun are from the same agency which is FNC Ent. And you’re right, she is cute. Try watching AOA videos to see more of her.:)

  89. 89 : kdfan Says:

@micc i hope u r well now. nx wk would be my turn to check in to hosp for a minor procedure ..

yes i just caught up with yesterday’s kbsworld. to me it’s poor writing making it hard to believe ujae can be so hurtful towards seoyeong now that he knows the truth. and more unbelievable is how seoyeong thinks she could continue living with ujae normally after he asked her straight in the face that its time to spill the beans or else. i was hoping it wont turn out like this but i guess the writer just had to milk this to stretch the episodes. i m turning my focus to sangu n hoejong. i m disappointed hoejong agrees so easily to marry him. i really hope sangu finds his true love with her.

  90. 90 : ptsh836 Says:

@kdfan: agree with u abt LSY’s thinking that she can still carry on living in dreamland now that her secret is out…

i think its in KWJ’s character to demand for complete honesty n trust fr his wife as he, himself had nothing to hide nor declare n had always been truthful to LSY…its just d way he handles this shock that appears unbelievable…im sure there is such kind of people who demands to see everything out in d open; they especially hates dishonest people what more fr d woman he loved…im also sure he’s gonna take a long time to get over it now that LSY had specifically disclosed that she has no intention whatsoever of revealing her secret to him… i honestly believe in return, he’ll make her life with him hell n unbearable…gggrrrrrh!

while LSW proposing to CHJ is a bit preposterous n selfish now that he sees CHJ as his only way out to escape fr the clutches of KMK… he did not consider CHJ’s feelings at all even tho he’s not in love with her…all he cares abt is himself n i think its a bit unfair towards CHJ…however, he did promise to learn to love her in future n i hope he keeps his word…who knows if everything will turn out well for them both??

  91. 91 : bensalinakino Says:

It is quite astonishing that this drama is way ahead in the ratings game, and in fact is getting stronger in every episode. However, the English subs are a bit slow, compared to other less popular current dramas which are subbed almost instantly, or at least within a day or two.

  92. 92 : bensalinakino Says:

I also don’t agree with the abrupt change of attitude of Ujae toward his wife of 3 years, whom he had relentllessly pursued in the beginning despite the fact that time and again he was being rejected by Seo-young. Genuine love is supposed to be all encompassing – it includes the readiness to forgive and to understand the person you love, no matter what. Seo-young may have lied about her family background, but it was for a reason. In fact Ujae should be flattered that Seo-young even gave up her own father and twin brother for the sake of her love for him (Ujae). One thing more, actually Ujae should even be proud and grateful that Seo-young has a father who was even willing to risk his own life in order to save Ujae from being run over by a car. And what is wrong with having a poor family background? Seo-young was for a while a judge and is a full-fledged lawyer while her twin brother is a good-looking doctor.

  93. 93 : ptsh836 Says:

@bensalinakino: at gooddrama.net, they’re 1 day behind in releasing this drama with eng subs…currently they’ve finished epi 26 (same time as those shown on OneTvAsia) we’re now 6 epis behind those aired in korea…

things are definitely gearing up all for d wrong reasons for KWJ n LSY after 3 very blissful years of marriage…like i said before, KWJ is a stickler for law n order n where everything else should fall into its rightful places…he jus cannot fathom d reasons for LSY’s cover up of her family background.

after having personally known LSY’s father through his interactions with him a couple of epis before this, KWJ cannot help but feel shock n disbelief over LSY’s actions…tho being poor was never an issue with KWJ.

i believe all he wants is for his wife to come clean with him n not keep him in d dark like this…

  94. 94 : kdfan Says:

@ptsh836 i agree ujae is not hung up over what seoyeong lies about but he just can t accept seoyeongkeep hiding secrets from him. Initially i was put off with ujae’s reaction. But as much as i want to hate him, i cant. Probably bec he is too good looking :p . Then i remembered seoyeong’s words to sangu. She said the person she was 3 yrs ago would make the same decision she did to cut ties with her dad although the person she is now regrets it. In the sameway the person ujae was 3 yrs ago will always accept seoyoung with secrets she kept fr him but the ujae now cant. People change over time esp romantic love that is seldom unconditional. I think separation is best for the couple which i m sure will b temporary in kdland. Theres a big part of seoyoung’s personality that is surpressed bec of her lie. I want her to come out clean n unleash it. I hope to see seoyoung living a more colourful life, srarting with her wardrobe!

  98. 98 : rei Says:

After the recent daily menu of the shallow and mindless dramas which were dished out (except for “My Husband Got A Family), this drama is a classic.

It is such a solid, substantial, meaningful story of life. The writer/writers of this drama are great sensitive observers of life, so much so that the story of each and every character and events are reflections of what we can find in real life, though not all from one family as depicted in this drama, but which can be found in all everyday life…….

This drama is so real that we can relate to it – as if watching the story
of someone we know personally. Blows me away.

The cast of actors also did justice to this drama. They are all great
actors. Their acting is so good, that they made the characters “jump”
    out of the screen.

  99. 99 : fransiska Says:

poor Kang Mi Kyung….i like her..i think she will be married to Lee Sang Woo but …..
kenapa ya sutradaranya buat sedihh aja..:(

  100. 100 : rei Says:

My humble opinion is that, Seoyoung should not have done what she did – which is to have told such a Serious and Bad Lie in the first place. Not
all lies are good. Such as this one, for whatever reason it was used to justify the lie, it is better to have told the truth. The truth last more
lasting power than a lie. If the truth had been told, Ujae being the character that he is would definitely have continued to fight for her and protect her if there had been resistence from the parents.

But as the the story goes, the (destructive power of this bad lie is slowing unfurling ……. (Seoyoung made a bad judgement call).

Seoyoung”s lie has very serious and destructive consequences. She
knew she had told a Big Lie. She had prepared herself for the
repercussions/consequences against her should the fallout happen (should she be found out). She prepared herself by not getting pregnant to be loaded with a kid, trying to get her work junior and brother (Sangu) to move away in order to protect her lie, and all her
other actions to protect a lie, etc

An intelligent girl like her – she knew what the
consequences might be – that it might have a destructive ripple
effect on all far and dear to her, (which was what exactly has
happened now ) should the secret be known…… but she still did not care. She continued living the lie, and allow it to fester on, giving all the “reasons” and excuses to justify not wanting to reveal the lie. She
    still clung on.

Seoyoung’s Lie shows the ultimate selfishness of her. Devious
    and conniving.

Seoyoung’s Lie and the reasons behind it – were like giving a reason
for pushing someone under a moving train, just ‘cos we think it is justifiable. Just ‘cos we have a reason for doing it, it does not
mean that we can do it.

In life, some lies can be told, but some cannot be told. It is all about
    human values.

I seen Episode 36 today. I cried as Seo Yeong has to be confronted by Hee Jin (ex girl of Lee Sang Yoon) and she has to reveal to Lee’s family about the truth that she was not an orphan. Knowing that Sang Yoon knew about the truth and treated her badly, she walked off after placing her divorced papers on the table of her in-laws.

She has married Sang Yoon after serious consideration of his family background compared to her. She even forgo getting pregnant as she afraid that Sang Yoon will leave her. It was a sad episode.

I was admiring Sang Yoon for initial early marriage when he treated her so well and never imagine he took it so seriously when he knew the secret and did many things to hurt her (drinking, going back late, getting social escort to be with him etc et). I supported Seo Yeong to leave him since he did not give her a chance to explain her reasons of her leaving her family for his sake. At this point, Sang Yoon cannot be given and should be taught a lesson to live without her.

  105. 105 : kdfan Says:

I am part of the cheering team for supporting seoyoung to move on with her life. No doubt she made a mistake but no reason to make up for it if the rest don’t have big enough hearts to let her do so. But the better reason is to get to see another round of wooing from ujae to get her back..yippee!

just finished epi 31 n enjoyed watching LSW n CHJ’s wedding…altho LSY (lee seo yeong) had to hide herself fr her dad’s view n risk being discovered…LSY is indeed a very complex character; she longs to belong to her family once again but does not want to risk losing her new found, comfortable, high status lifestyle with KWJ (ujae)…

actually, her fears are unfounded coz KWJ is a simple, straight forward guy n he’ll surely accept her family no matter rich or poor…n all this game of pretense n lies will only make KWJ hate her more…

LSY had been given more than one chance of coming clean with KWJ but she stubbornly refuses to divulge her only secret…thus creating an ever growing wedge of misunderstanding between herself n KWJ n when KWJ discovered she had secretly been taking contraceptives but still pretended to be innocent n went along with her mother-in-law to d gynae for fertility treatments; KWJ blew his top n demanded they divorce coz he couldnt live with her lies n all….

back to LSW n CHJ’s wedding nite…its hilarious how d couple spent their first nite together….CHJ’s too cute n naive…she’s so sweet! LSW is too handsome n it’ll be fun watching how he’s gonna win over her love!

  111. 111 : ptsh836 Says:

    epi 32:

KWJ’s attempts to bait LSY into confessing to her lie has somewhat backfired on him….eventho LSY’s been pushed to d wall with threats of divorce, she remains undaunted n is prepared to lose everything instead. i presume KWJ is playing a game of poker’s bluff here with his wife but LSY is taking up his offer of divorce without a moment’s hesitation, much to d chagrin of KWJ! LSY is truly a tough nut to crack n KWJ is already losing patience with her.

as i see it, KWJ n LSY’s marriage is headed to doomsville if neither one of them gives in or gives up each other’s stubborn pursuit for honesty n/or deception… when d solution is actually very clear cut but due to ego n pride problems suffered by LSY, both are made to suffer unhappy consequences.

  112. 112 : morgan Says:

Thou Seoyang lied, and was tormented for doing so. I would of denounce my “nimrod” of a father, he continued to disrupt her life with no regrets. Her hubby is a joke, his attitude!!!

tho i do not profess to understand KWJ’s (ujae) persistence in dragging out d whole truth fr his dishonest wife…i can imagine his anguish on discovering LSY (lee seo yeong) as not who she declares herself to be i.e. he had fallen in love n married someone who had deceived him into believing what she is not n that in itself is very frightening to him…

while his nightmare has taken a hiatus when other problems had surfaced in his family…d uncovering of a skeleton in their closet…seongjae’s biological mom turns out to be yoon so mi, d personnel working closely with his dad n who had kept this secret under wraps for so long…chaos had erupted between his parents n seongjae is feeling distraught ovr this latest development.

tho i admire LSY’s (lee seo young) strong spirit n independence in pursuing a different path of life after her divorce, i cant help but mull over d drastic consequences of her actions n d pain she has caused to all those ppl around her be they family or in laws…

on d one hand, she loves KWJ (ujae) very much but due to her personal battle over ego n pride, she lets her marriage go without a fight…while KWJ is still hurting n wants her back n has started to woo her once again. if only she had stopped for a moment to think abt ways to amend her wrong doing…paused n think abt her lovely husband…she would not have taken d easy way out; all these according to her, is happening bcoz she could not face KWJ n his family ovr her deception…she very well knew this whole sad episode will happen d day she accepted KWJ’s marriage proposal.

Seven more episodes to go… I think too little time is given to develop Sang Woo and Ho Jung’s story. It could be interesting…

I enjoy watching this drama. Nice looking actors/actresses. What’s with all the people screaming/yelling at each other. Is that the way native Koreans communicate? Even though I have been through 3+ marriages, I never talked to my husbands like that. I really respect the way that the WINNERS CEO is portayed. I will continue to watch this show and am waiting to see the final episode.

@kdfan @Micc Am trying to marathon to the latest episode. Am actually following this on TV, will be on Ep 40 this weekend. Yeech, I feel as if I am on a roller coaster ride of emotions. I cry whenever SY cries alone!!

  142. 142 : Syrena Says:

I’m enjoying watching this drama. The Nbr 1 rating is well deserved.

My favourite characters are Hoyeong – amazing character before and after she got married, She tries so hard and hope that her love and affection (and obsession) with Sangu will be reciprocated in the end. She deserves it.

Hoyeong’s Dad always gives me a laugh; Superb acting from Soyeong’s Dad.

As for Soyeong, I do have mixed feelings – despite her kind heart is a very confused person. I do feel sorry for her husband Ujae – such a nice and loyal husband and would deserve a better wife. There’s no excuse for disowning your family. One lie unfortunately has led to more lies. As far as this drama is concerned, I don’t have any sympathy for her whatsoever.

  143. 143 : Micc Says:

Hi! So lucky you can marathon this drama. I will be re-watching once it’s finished! :-)

SY is a sad character but I’m sure she will find happiness at the end. As you can see she is already on her way to happiness.

I like how all the characters here have flaws, they are so human. Compared to some protagonists who could make no mistakes and some villains who will just hurt anybody, the characters in this drama seem so real. Will be very sad to see the drama ends.

  144. 144 : rei Says:

Warning… this might a spoiler…. was watching an entertainment news on tv just recently. Some stars of this series were interviewed. At the interview they reassured the audience that the ending of the series will be a happy one. And they were also very happy for the high ratings that this series has garnered.

Hope this is true, a straightforward simple ending would be nice to have. If it were to be a cliff-hanger / open type of ending, it would be a disappointment for me ‘cos to me there is no definitive closure to the story. I dislike second guessing.

  145. 145 : Estela Says:

I really like the characters of lee sangu and hojeong. They are such fun to watch. Hope Sangu falls in love with Hojeong soon.

  146. 146 : Micc Says:

I thought the rest of the episodes will be all rosy, but I think I guess wrong. Something tragic seems to be brewing, and like @rei, I hope this is not an open ending.

  147. 147 : Jennie Says:

@Micc Hi, like you I love how the characters are like ordinary people, who are less than perfect, and with realistic issues that we can relate to. I love that the writer gives us different perspectives from the characters and how they react, from their point of view. For me there’s no villian in this drama, only understanding and enlightenment why people do different things based on their thinking. I couldnt resist watching Ep 46 live today and kekeke, I love the banter between WJ and SY tonight and I love how SY has transformed into a more relaxed person. My favourite scene would be when WJ’s mum realized that she must set SJ free if she loves him and I love that scene with mum and SJ when she told him that he could have two mums. I love Cha JS hehehe.

  152. 152 : ptsh836 Says:

viewers tend to stand behind LSY n sympathize with her plight despite her very flawed persona just by basing specifically on her sufferings when she was young…when she had to balance her studies with her part-time work, her bitter struggles to repay her dad’s gambling debts n funding LSW’s medical studies…

    its true LSY had a hard time growing up, thus her character development is skewed n veering towards much resentment, she’s cold n unemotional, hard headed n a prideful person; prone to lies n deception in order to achieve her happiness;

actually, this is the first time a female lead is presented with such undesirable characteristics; while viewers may be blinded by sympathy towards LSY…personally, i find her rigid, egoistic, arrogant, stubborn, proud n non-compassionate especially towards her own dad…when LSW can bring himself to forgive his dad, LSY resists n hates him terribly….she does not believe he will ever change n she firmly thinks he will never change!

but she is wrong….however bad a person may be, given a chance…he will make amends n he will change…nothing is permanent…no one should be condemned to hell forever….circumstances will affect that person n he will change for d better….

here, i would like to share some quotes which are quite relevant in describing LSY’s character:-

~”all men make mistakes, but a good man yields when he knows his course is wrong, n repairs the evil. The only crime is pride.”….Sophocles, Antigone

~”it is better to lose your pride with someone you love rather than to lose that someone you love with your useless pride.”….John Ruskin

~”humility is nothing but truth, n pride is nothing but lying.”….. St. Vincent de Paul and

~proud people breed sad sorrows for themselves…..Emily Bronte

  153. 153 : Jennie Says:

@ptsh836 I understand your take on LSY and how many viewers think her as a cold and unforgiving person. I confess I wasnt comfortable with her character in the first couple of episodes for exactly the same reasons. However as the drama progresses, I see glimpses of that LSY that the writer wants us all to see and kudos to LBY for portraying this character so successfully. I see SY as a strong and determined girl who forces herself to endure whatever that gets thrown her way. In one of the earlier episodes, she tells SJ that she went hungry for days when she was younger. When asked how she managed, she told SJ that she had no choice. She drank tap water to keep off the hunger and she just had to endure it. To me it is this strength in her that she can endure the hardship when she was younger and it is precisely this strength in her that makes her rigid and stubborn. She told SJ that endurance was the key if he wanted to make it as a successful model during the earlier days.

Do you see pride as a crime? I don’t especially not in SY’s case when she had nothing else but this pride. You can lose whatever but never your pride because you lose your self respect as well. I was so proud of SY when she insisted to WJ that she will not beg his parents to accept her just because she was not up to their standard, when he proposed to her that they try to convince them to allow them to marry. Cold and unemotional? Yes, that’s a front she puts on but have you noticed those soliloquys she had when she was uncertain? If she was unemotional she wouldnt have those sad lonely tears which make me tear up too!!

You ask why LSW can forgive their father while LBY cannot. Obviously there’s a dialogue that you missed when this was explained by LSW. Again, in one of the earlier episodes, LSW told his sister that he understood why she hated their father more and how she could not forgive their father. LSY had always been the one who made sacrifices, together with her mum. She had only one more semester left in her studies but she had to defer again and again and made one sacrifice after another, whether it was that her brother could continue his studies or to pay off their father’s debts. LSW said himself that it was easier for him to forgive their father because he never had to be burdened with anything else other than working to pay for his own tuition fees, unlike LSY and their mum. This is just one instance where we are shown the depth of LSY’s sacrifices and how much she resents her father. There are a few others – eg working in the morgue at the age of 12 to pay off father’s debts, deliveries at 3am, getting slapped and humiliated working part time etc etc. but I think you get the idea how great her sacrifices were and though she endured each time and hoped her father would change, he never did but instead gambled the last of their savings for both their tuition fees while their mum died all alone, after learning that the husband had taken all their savings. That was the last straw. SY would not be able to believe her father again so easily after being duped by him so many times over. Are we blindly standing with SY because we sympathise with her earlier sufferings? I think not. I stand behind SY because I see it from her perspective and under those circumstances, if I were in her shoes, I can’t promise that I won’t be resentful of the father too, perhaps maybe even more? I’m only human 😀 And why is it so wrong for her to resent her father and not so wrong for the father to neglect his duties and promises, time and time again? He had a choice whether to be a father or not whereas SY did not have a choice – she never asked to be born and she never had a choice to choose her father should be.

LSY comes across to me as a very real character, flaws and all. Realistic in the sense that she is not your typical self-sacrificing character up to the point of being pathetic and a fool. Yes, she did lie and because of this one lie, she paid it with three years of her life when she could have basked in domestic bliss being happily married to WJ. Now that SY is at peace after the divorce, I hope time will heal her heart, that she learns to forgive and love her dad again, and offer her dad a chance to atone for his past deeds and for the dad to help his daughter learn to love herself and him again. Dad says so himself, where in the world a dad would not love his own? 😀

You know what I love the most about this drama? It reminds me of the fact that behind every action, there’s a reason for the action. The characters in this drama all have their own reasons and POVs on why they acted like they did, including the supporting cast, including Seonu. Like you and I, we all have different opinions on SY , just depending on how we view it, that’s all. I just happen to think that LSY is an awesome character, proud, stubborn, cold etc….I love them all and thanks to LBY for portraying this character so well and the writer for giving us such a wonderful character. 😀

  154. 154 : rei Says:

Your above post about SY took all the words out of my mouth ! What more can I say about my impression of SY?

Yes, she is a very dangerous character. If she had been caught in some more worse situation, I believe she’s even capable of becoming a killer. This is what her character is, a sociopath. Though she has not reached the serial killer level, but her basic characteristics point to being a one of a lower level. But who knows, like I’ve mentioned, if cornered and with no where to run, I would not be surprised if she (SY) would resort to killing to get away.

  155. 155 : Jennie Says:

@kdfan I love that scene by the river too. I love seeing those flashbacks which were making him and me cry ;-( I watched that a few times too, thanks to Astro’s recording gadget heehee. I wish I knew how to dl from Astro, so that I dont have to buy the DVD for keeps 😀

  156. 156 : ptsh836 Says:

    @rei #154:

i looked up d meaning of being a sociopath n this is what i learnt:

“A person with antisocial personality disorder. Probably the most widely recognized personality disorder. A sociopath is often well liked because of their charm and high charisma, but they do not usually care about other people. They think mainly of themselves and often blame others for the things that they do. They have a complete disregard for rules and lie constantly. They seldom feel guilt or learn from punishments. Though some sociopaths have become murderers, most reveal their sociopathy through less deadly and sensational means.” (most famous sociopath in history is charles manson!)

LSY may have some of d traits of a sociopath but i cant imagine her turning into a murderer when cornered….all she did in this drama was to run n hide…she hates confrontations n arguments with KWJ….when her lie was exposed, what did she do?? she submitted her divorce application to her in-laws n without any courtesy of an explanation or even a single apology, leaves d household n her beloved husband who was shocked to d core ovr such irresponsible behavior!

but i will reiterate that LSY is a product of a disruptive, unhappy n tumultuous upbringing n i do not blame her for turning into such an extreme character; full of hatred towards her dad…she had not once addressed him as ‘father’ throughout d time she met him again after her marriage…(epi 46)

@jennie: i admire your passion n support for LSY…ur so thorough, its unbelievable we’re just discussing a fictional character that is LSY! there are so many different takes n views fr viewers n mine was just one of them….
i simply wish for LSY to soften her stand just a tiny lil bit, afterall her dad has changed for d better n has regretted n repented, what more does she want?? in kdrama, LSY is not d first n only character to suffer an unhappy childhood…but she’s d first ive seen to bear such a huge grudge towards her dad…its abt time she learns to forgive n forget so as to become a wholesome, warm n better person once again….thats all i wish for her!

  157. 157 : Jennie Says:

@ptsh836 LOL, sorry for my very long post and admitted I got carried away but I do believe that some dramas and characters, even in fiction deserve more attention and appreciation than others and this is one of them. It’s such a well written script and in order to show my appreciation to this writer’s hard work, I love to look at in detail 😀

Since I’m at it, you said:

“LSY may have some of d traits of a sociopath but i cant imagine her turning into a murderer when cornered….all she did in this drama was to run n hide…she hates confrontations n arguments with KWJ….when her lie was exposed, what did she do?? she submitted her divorce application to her in-laws n without any courtesy of an explanation or even a single apology, leaves d household n her beloved husband who was shocked to d core ovr such irresponsible behavior!”

In LSY’s defense (or rather the writer’s), LSY did explain to her close friend that she couldnt offer any explanations to her in laws and WJ cos it would only make her dad look worse, something which she didnt want to do. She still has pride, you see, that others do not look down on her family ie her dad. Btw, she did apologise to her MIL and WJ later on, although she refrained from offering any other explanation.

Yes, I agree that there are lots of KDs out there about the sufferings of the heroine but as you say, she’s the first to bear such a huge grudge. But this is exactly what the entire drama is all about. It’s about Seo Yeong, a daughter who disowned her father and brother, an act which is morally wrong and this is what sets her apart from all the other never-do-wrong heroines 😀 And judging from the latest episode, I believe she’s on her way to becoming “a wholesome, warm and better person once again”, and a much happier and relaxed one, if I may add.

TQ for indulging me on this! (>‿◠)✌

@Jennie that was one great editing job of a flashback. it just piles up the guilt on WJ one after another that I just couldn’t help crying with him. I am so glad with Astro it just automatically records but I’m no good with gadgets, just know how to record n delete. This show I will keep in the box for a while to re-watch later. Going to watch ep 40 again now 😀

  162. 162 : kdfan Says:

@Jennie i did some research, it seems astro content is hardcoded to the box, no way to dl. The only option I know is to dl fr dcrazy with pc/laptop with realplayer installed. If you upgrade realplayer u can dl n burn onto dvds.

  163. 163 : Jennie Says:

@kdfan Hehehe thanks dearie. I know I can easily dl with realplayer but I thought I could save myself some time since I’d already recorded them from Astro. I actually asked the installer whether we could copy to a CD or USB and he told me it wasnt possible :-( But I’m pretty sure there must be a way. I suspect those from DrCr are actually ripped from TV cos if you’d notice, for this drama, the episodes with subs only appear after they had been shown on TV. Just a guess, anyway. Maybe I’ll check with my regular CD supplier, one of these days 😀 Thanks again.

  164. 164 : kdfan Says:

@Jennie i thought so initially but i do watch both astro n DR versions and found that some of the subs differ so i think it may not be fr that source.

  165. 165 : Jennie Says:

@kdfan Mayb not from Astro but another country which uses subs from a different source because there are other shows eg Ohlala Couple being flashed at top right hand corner about the show times. Anyway I’d probably get a copy once the show ends – my supplier is pretty quick heehee.
I will be missing this week’s live episodes as I will be back in SG attending a wedding :-( I like how the drama is coming to a full circle – I like that in a drama – shows the writer did not digressed and lose its plot. Keeping my fingers crossed for a satisfying ending 😀

  167. 167 : poonie Says:

Having watched all the episodes of the drama, I am very surprised how viewers are only seeing the negative aspects of LSY and not see why she was cold towards the father. Although the show did not emphasize on her angry towards the father when her mother died, but LSY’s attitude towards her father is in a great part due to that. Anyone who had been so close with her mother, in particular, in helping her mother with paying the father’s debts and also LSW’s tuition fees, it must have grieved her so much with her mother’s death from heart problem. She must have hated her father for not knowing about the wife’s illness when he was the only one at her side. Furthermore, he did directly caused his wife’s death by stealing the children’s tuition fees and also not responding to her numerous calls. Anyone in the situation would naturally hate the father.
Why didn’t LSW felt so negative about his father? It was because he relatively had a pretty good life. As he mentioned in one of the episode, underlike LSY who had to work and defer her studies, he only had to work for his daily expenses during his study. It was either LSY or his mother who had to put him through medical school. Furthermore, in the episode where he was hit by the teacher when he couldn’t pay the school fees, LSY came to the rescue and agreed to quit school to help his brother. LSW then mentioned to LSY why did she gave the money she earned from giving tuition to the loansharks, and to that, LSY mentioned that she couldn’t allow her mother to by beaten by the loansharks. In fact, LSW is not as caring as LSY. Actually he was very mean to LSY when she disowned the father. The same thing happened when he broke off with KMK, he was really mean to her.
So while all were seeing LSY in negative lights, there were so much goodness in LSY which were not seen by lots of the viewers. Her caring towards her brother, no matter how much she hated her father, she could not turn him away from her little room, and had to move out instead. If LSW had been just as capable, he would have find a place to stay with his father rather than needing LSY to help. In fact the same thing happen to when the debtors where going after his father, he couldn’t handle and had to turn to LSY for help. It was LSY who had to fork out $10,000 to clear part of the debt.
While all eyes were on how LSY had lied to be married into KWJ’s family, however, everyone tend to ignore the circumstances that made her told the lie. It was just after she had to bail her father out of the police station when he was accused for trying to con married women. Also the eyes of KWJ’s parents, KMK and also JSN were so unfriendly and to the point of dispise. So it is understandable she had to lie at that point in time. She too know that she can’t be with KWJ because of their social status disparity, that is why she had rejected him. Why can’t she tell the truth after marriage, I guess it was how KWJ looked upon her. So many times he had mentioned his respect for LSY and making it difficult for her to disclose the truth.
Why did she insisted to leave KWJ much to the angry of many viewers. Frankly, LSY is one who reflect on her mistakes. She knew KWJ’s standard, she also knew that KWJ’s parents would not forgive her, and that is why she chose to leave KWJ despite he still wanted to be together with her. She just did not want KWJ to have a hard time with his parents if he insists on staying with her. Just like what KWJ’s friend said to him at the bar that KWJ will have to desert his parents if he chose to stay with LSY. LSY also mentioned to her friend the reasons why she chose not to explain herself, for she would not want to insult her father again just to clear her name. I am also another reason for leaving KWJ was her great disappointment in KWJ when he initiated the divorce and said that he does not love and trust her anymore.
The other person who lied about her family background was KMK. Her reason for telling others she was an orphan was so ridiculous – fearing others to take advantage of her because of her rich family. However to her parents, that is OK – coz she can’t be fleeced by others. But this is the double standard of rich family. It is OK for their children to hurt others with her lies, but not LSY, what she did was so unforgivable. I think KMK’s action is worst than LSY. At least when LSY told the lie, she was cornered, and that group of people includes KMK. Viewers tend to forgive KMK coz she acts cute in the show and she was sincere towards LSW. LSY was hated coz she was the reason for the breakup. But I see that they are all at fault. How could LSY be responsible for the breakup which she didn’t know. If she had know about the relationship between KMK and LSW, I am sure she would choose to disclose the truth. She loves her brother too much, much more than LSW’s love for her.
Actually, LSY’s character is greater other than her strong defensive walls she set up. She is one person who just took everything in, she has high tolerance level. She would just cry in secret and not shown to others. That is sad but that is her. Although she maybe seen selfish at times, but she was always quick to acknowledge her mistake and not pursue it. Just like when she told LSW to move to another hospital, but immediately she would apologise to him for saying the wrong thing. It was LSW who was real mean in his treatment towards her especially with his words. That is also one reason why she chose to live alone after the divorce. LSW told her she had no family left except KWJ.
LSY is also pretty quick and smart when she asked her father-in-law to pay her more since she had settled her mother-in-law’s case. She understood her father-in-law does not treat her as a family anymore, and since she needed the money to help the abused teenage boy, she tend took advantage of the situation to help others. She is caring in a very quiet way, and I don’t think those viewers who viewed her negatively took notice of that.
Just like when she helped her friend to get away from the loanshark, it was brave of her, and her being protective of her friend by standing in front of her in the face of the loanshark. Even though she is not wealthy, she actually gave her friend the money to repay the loan and putting it in a nice way – the money for scouting her.
I also like the where she washed the car and return it to KWJ’s family. When KWJ wanted to get an apartment for her after divorce, she actually told KWJ that she should be the one givng the compensation.
While all thinks that KWJ is great, I feel he is a far cry from the husband of the show “My husband has a family”. Why? he is just a spoilt and pampered brat with lots of money bequeath from his grandfather. Only went to work for his father as a bargaining chip to marry LSY. When LSY didn’t fall into his standard of what LSY should be, he then quickly end their relationship. It was JSN that reminded him the reason why he married LSY in the first place, to make her sleep, laugh and eat. He was ironical in that on one hand he said he cant tell LSY that he knew about her father coz LSY would run away, but on the other hand, when LSY did not confess, he divorced her. So why go through all the trouble when he wanted to divorce her. Maybe if he told LSY, her leaving would be he was not in control of the situation, whereas, when he divorce LSY he was in control. If he love her so much and went through so much to find out about her family, with all the effect PI in korea, he could have easily found out the truth, or at least he could have try to get the truth out from LSY’s father so that LSY wont know about it. But then…… I also did not like the way he told LSY after the divorce, that she should live according to the way he expected of her after the divorce. Why is he such a controlling person…. a spoilt brat who always get his way.
So let’s hope the ending is good. Both sad and happy that the drama is not extending. Happy it is not dragging but sad to see the end so soon. Cheerios

  168. 168 : ptsh836 Says:

there is no denying fr most viewers that LSY had a real hard time growing up under such an irresponsible father. we all agree she has d right to hate him, disown him even (altho its morally wrong in d eyes of d moralists, of course!) nevermind, (i think i better speak for myself) she has d right to disown her bro even when threats fr him fails to dislodge her finalist decision…

so, to get a breather fr such a hard life, LSY snared d nearest rich, fool of an innocent man, who is oblivious to her background n past; happily believing they love each other enough to make it to d altar…what he doesnt know was d amount of conspiracy being cooked up in LSY’s head, right down to how she’s gonna make her gracious exit fr his household when her secret’s out n without d burden of having a kid born to them under such circumstances…if he knew d extent of what’s brewing in her mind…would he have been so loving to her till his own mom gets jealous ovr her own loveless marriage??

what viewers dislike abt her is d extent she goes abt to protect this deception n lie, dishonestly deceiving everyone within her vicinity is not enough, she had to remove obstacles n anyone fr her path who so much as threatens her immaculate plans…this includes her own bro being told to shoo off fr d hospital he works in so she doesnt bump into him, n her good friend at d legal office to resign n move off elsewhere coz her secrets may get leaked out should both of them linger around her…

LSY had to fight off her personal battles of being selfish n happy at d same time; all d while her lies keep getting bigger n uglier, she’s constantly in conflict with herself for all d troubles she brought upon herself…so now she’s having a good life living as a rich man’s wife, but is she at ease, contented even??? her one moment of making a wrong decision in lying has made her feeling guilty all d time, looking ovr her shoulders constantly n longing for a family she once had…for a moment there, is this even worth all d trouble n pain she caused to all those innocent ppl around her??

even her sis-in-law, KMK resented her for upsetting her marriage plans with LSW…had she known LSY’s marriage is like a timebomb with a limited lifespan…wouldnt she be all d wiser had she waited her time out in order to marry LSW??

finally, LSY, after three years is still d same person who still heaps all d blame on her father…she blames him for creating an opportunity for KWJ to know him, to work in his company, n thus derailing all her efforts in keeping her big secret safe…all in all…she still hates him n refuses to acknowledge what LSW told her abt her dad…that he has repented n changed for d better…

its good that LSY is a fiercely independent woman, no one’s denying that either…but its d conscience n compassion in her as a normal human being, one who can forgive n forget, who can move on n live without regrets that will earn her d respect she deserves fr viewers…this is just another opinion of mine…im sure d writer will have to bring her down to earth n knock some senses into her before the drama finally wraps….this, im quite sure of!

  169. 169 : rei Says:

Sorry, the picture of LSY I get from you is that of a politician. Unfortunately, you prefer to see the facade of LSY only. Look deeper into a person, and we will be able to see the real one.

Kudos. I fully agree with you. Again, you have said it all.

  170. 170 : poonie Says:

While you people may think that she is selfish, let’s put it this way, we are not perfect and obviously some of you may want to look at her from your own perspectives like me from my own perspective too.
What I feel that some of you feel that LSY left her father because of wanting to marry into a rich comfortable life, I would like to disagree. If she had no feelings for KWJ, she would not have gone back to him after he left for the States. Yes she lied and tried to buy her way through, and also did not want to have any children since she is prepared to leave the family when the lie is discovered. However, she is also someone who is using her head more than her heart. Her rationality and insecurity, probably from years of having to fight for survival, taught her to be wary of others. Why did she have the idea of needing to leave the family once her lie being discovered? Well, if you have gone back and watch the episodes numerous times or probably watch those with the more correct version of translation, then maybe you will discover some of the things that KWJ said about his trusting of her. It is inconceivable for someone to continue lying but sometimes, in real life it is easier said than done.
As for some who kept harping on the fact that LSY hated and blamed the father after 3 years. Still, in the first place, the father should not have work for KWJ if he had been considerate for his daughter. It is only natural for her to be angry at the dad that KWJ discovered the truth, however, she did in fact went back to apologise (not to ask for forgiveness) after her divorce. She in fact told her father that he was not responsible for the breakup. LSY is never a perfect person, and of course she had done wrongs in her marriage to KWJ, but where did all forget her caring for the people around her, caring for them quietly, as though it was only right for her to do so, but it was so unforgiveable with her lie.
KMK resented LSY is only a normal reaction because she blamed LSY for her breakup. But if KMK hadn’t told the lie about being an orphan in the first place, she and LSW would not have been together. So why is it OK for KMK to lie about her parents being dead when they are so alive and so rich, whereas it is so wrong for LSY to lie to marry into the family. Not forgetting that KMK had no choice to disclose her lie to LSW coz LSW is the one which has to be accepted by her parents. Anyway, the truth reasons for her breakup too was because LSW knew that he could not fit into her rich life style. Where his father is so careful with using hot water and the cheap clothings he wore, KMK is unable to accept that kind of lifestyle.
BTW although LSY tried to persuade LSW to move to another hospital and helping her friend to change job – remember it was also her friend who was uncomfortable wit her in the same company and said that she would try to find another job. Of course LSY was glad that her friend wanted to leave and help her to find another job, at least she got her a good job not just making her leave. Dont forget, when the friend told her off and did not leave the company, she did not harbour any ill feelings for her friend and stood up for her friend in the face of the loanshark. If you think LSY is still a selfish person, I beg to differ. She in fact told her friend (who was fill with guilt concious about shaming LSY in front of their classmates), it was LSY who told her otherwise and that she should not be guilty as she left because of family problems. In fact, she offered to help her friend to pay off the loanshark. When her friend misunderstood her intention to help, she actually told her friend about her own personal experience of how the loansharks get after her mother and how she hope there were relatives who could help them. If that is selfish that she wanted to get rid of obstacles, I don’t know what then is not selfish. She never treated her friend badly while they were in the company, just except that she didn ‘t want her to disclose things about her and her family.
As for her asking LSW to leave the hospital, that is just a natural response to her fear. However, she apologised to her brother immediately and did not further pursue. If she had insisted and force her brother to change hospital, that I would say she is really selfish and a person who scheme. But no matter what her brother did, she was always there to support him.
To Rei, I do not agree with you that LSY is a political and I only see her from skin deep. I think you have not watch her deeply to understand her personality, but you are skin deep in looking at her on her reactions to KWJ and maybe her father. She is no where near a politician (if you know what politicians are). She is just a person who lied while being cornered unaware, and that lie that driven her to react in some selfish manner. However her selfish actions also do not warrant the labels that she is a cunning and schematic person (if you think that what politicians are).
Think, if LSY is such a horrible person, why would her brother, KWJ, her father, LSW’s wife, and her friend stood by her and protect her. She only asked her brother for help once which rejected, and she never asked anyone to help or protect her. If she is such a horrible person, I am sure they are all not blinded and continue to care for her.

  171. 171 : Micc Says:

Wow, seems like there is a big debate going on. Can’t really read the long comments but just one thing comes across my mind watching this drama, and that is to never lie, no matter what the circumstances are. I don’t think LSY was trying to lie, she was trying to avoid being humiliated as she never thought she would actually marry into that household. But once you started a lie, it’s really hard to know what will come next. My elementary school teacher once said, lying is like a chain, one hooks on to the next one and has to keep going. I just wish I could teach that to my son, without mentioning the drama, that is.

  172. 172 : poonie Says:

I truly agree with you. Yes one lie always lead to another hahahaha…. how about the boy who cries wolf….

  173. 173 : Micc Says:

He was just unlucky! They believed him every time until he really needed the help! hahahaha! Just kidding… 😉

  174. 174 : ptsh836 Says:

i dread going thru another round of endless debate ovr this drama but one thing is for sure n that is its impossible to agree with everyone whether its jus watching a drama or anything else. we may be watching d same drama but d angle that hitches our individual hearts are diverse n different.

some viewers may think its alright to be dishonest n deceive ppl so long as its compensated with other kind n caring actions but there are also others who cannot tolerate a heroine who is imperfect n flawed; this brings to mind another drama, ‘cheongdamdong alice’….many viewers just cannot bring themselves to like d heroine no matter how much she tried to redeem herself….her single action of trickery lost her many fans altho they loved d male lead, they simply cannot continue to watch n torture themselves.

similarly in this case…we can argue till d cows come home…we’ll never reach an agreeable conclusion. all in all, lets jus say that Lee Bo Young is a very outstanding actress who is so into her character that moves many of us whether in d right or wrong direction.

  175. 175 : poonie Says:

Yes I agree, we each see the character in our own perspectives, but just this once, dont deem others as in the wrong direction just when we disagree with your views. Your perspectives may not be the real one too. It maybe hidden by your own perspectives of being a “right” person. In life, there is alot of things in the shades of grey.

  182. 182 : qualityKdrama Says:

Whoa! Hold your horses here! Poonie, it’s just a drama and Korean, that’s all. There’s no need to get upset with other commentators. By the way, ptsh836, I have to applaud your very philosophical comments, they are fantastic quotes to support your stance.

  183. 183 : ptsh836 Says:

@rei n @qualityKdrama: thanks to u both for ur kind words…its a relief to know there are others who share d same views as me…

its a pity this drama is coming to an end very soon now altho we have all enjoyed d spectacular acting of all actors n actresses involved…one thing ive to say tho…i admire d guts of this writer to introduce to us such a head strong female lead who had during d process, ruffled enough feathers seeing d many comments contributed by viewers here n elsewhere…

personally, im a sucker for characters who improve n become better persons during d duration of a drama viz d father fr being a gambling addict n despicable father to someone humble, respectable n much loved by his son n daughter-in-law…d amount of suffering n humiliation he had to put up with in safeguarding his daughter’s secret is now becoming clearer thru d many flashbacks of LSY n she is now seeing him in a newer light.

the next character i like is choi hojeong…altho some viewers call her creepy n weird, i think she is just being sincere, honest n steadfast in pursuing d love of her life n by being consistently patient n persistent…she successfully snagged her prince n is triumphant having him reciprocate her love finally…

at the end of d day, this drama will eventually deliver its stances of 1) truthfulness n honesty ovr lying n dishonesty n 2) forgiveness n love will override self-centredness n selfishness…its a universal truth afterall…one that is advocated n taught by all religions so d writer has inevitably some redeeming work to perform on d female lead before its too late (d unavoidable ‘death in d family’ plot is rearing its ugly head yet again) indeed why cant one repent n live a long, fulfilling n happy life after going thru so much upheavals, pain n suffering??? why must death n separation be thrown into d cauldron too??

in d meantime, ive discovered another gem of a family drama in “childless comfort”…its very interesting d way d writer tells his story…it keeps one entertained n hooked on d escapades of a very large family n its colorful characters; altho dis drama is presently @ epi 33, it has only started to be subbed while ratings have been pretty impressive to warrant an extra extension of 9 epis to make it 39…

but finally someone has figured out if sangu and his wife have consumed the tenement or are you waiting for?

  185. 185 : kcp Says:

@poonie, Thanks for sharing your perspective, which I agree very much. I also enjoy reading other view points as well but I like yours most becauseyou sound more understanding of human nature and forgiving our human frailities. Thanks for your humanistic warmth I got from your writing.

  186. 186 : Jennie Says:

Agree with @kcp and thanks @poonie for that awesome write-up. I can’t wait to see the final episodes this week and keeping my fingers crossed that we will get a fantastic finale, with everything all neatly wrapped up. Fighting, MDSY!!!!

Slightly off topic but it’s funny how LBY is always in the dramas that I really love and treasure eg Seodongyo (Song of the Prince), Queen of the Game, Equator Man (a very small role but significant) and now, My Daughter SY. She’s not my favourite but the fact that she appears in most of my all-time favourites (which also did very well in ratings) must count for something, I guess. Maybe she’s good with selecting scripts 😀

  187. 187 : rei Says:

Finally…. the story is about to end. Only two more episodes to go. Keeping fingers crossed for a good ending all round.

As mentioned in your above post, that there will be a death in the story, the romantist in me hope it will not come true. But yet on the other hand, can we all escape from falling victim to the screenwriter’s syndrome? Which is, not having to face a death or a tragic medical condition in a good story? This story itself is already a good story, full of dramas. No need to add anymore dramas…… yikes !

  188. 188 : ptsh836 Says:

i hope so too that the ending will be a good one; preferably no one dies.

im hoping for a reunion at last for LSY n her family…abt her getting back with KWJ…some viewers think its not probable coz of d hurt suffered by d kang family; looks like it’ll take a longer time for LSY’s parents-in-law to forgive her.

anyway, im looking forward to d last two epis this weekend…~~

  189. 189 : Micc Says:

  195. 195 : kdfan Says:

@Jennie LBY is my top 3 k actress. The other 2 are SYJ n MCW. I love all LBY dramas too including Save the Last Dance. She takes the cake with MDSY acting wise bec her character is so real. This is the first weekend drama that i watched every single episode and where all the characters story are so interesting. This is a writer who gives her story development a thorough plan before writing the script. She deserves an award for an outstanding job for such a long drama. Just a few more hours to catching the finale and must not miss the starting part :-)

  196. 196 : Jennie Says:

@kdfan Hi there! I didnt know LBY was in Save The Last Dance? I dont remember her at all but then again, it was one drama I remember doing a lot of FF-ing . Interesting – must go search for the dvd again. Does it mean JS and her started dating that long ago? Oh yes, I intend to glue myself on my notebook in about 30 mins time and probably post some screencaps on S.. which btw, did you receive my PM? I hope I didnt send it to the wrong person – jeez, I hope not!!!! Agree with you 100% about the writer – a very well-thought out script and awesome execution by the cast and crew. It’s one family drama that doesnt drag and with none of those exaggerated acting and dialogue. I’m really going to miss LSY’s winning smile and I will definitely miss Mama Kang:-D

  197. 197 : Jennie Says:

One of the best ending ever. Love the pacing and just love how the writer wrapped up the story ever so nicely. All our wishes and prayers were answered and the cinematography simply beautiful. AWESOME drama from the start to finish!!!

  198. 198 : poonie Says:

hahahaha…. finally at last, an ending that is not dragging, and manages to round up everything nicely. Unlike most Korean dramas where either the show is so dragging, or they would suddenly wrap up everything in one episode, but for Seoyoung, I am glad that it ends well. It is something which I had not seen for a long time with Korean dramas. Even my previous favourite, My Husband has a Family, it tends to drag a little at the end, but this one, I am just thankful they didn’t extend the show.
BTW, LBY acted as the supporting lead in Save the Last Dance, a character that was not well like by some, someone deserted by Ji Sung when he fell in love with the lead. Apparently they both got together after the drama.
Sorry if my comments offended some, but I guess we are looking from different perspective. I just watch LBY on Happy Together 3 Episode 275, and she did in fact make some good comments. As she said, if it is from her own perspective, she didn’t think LSY is forgivable, because she did not went through what LSY had gone through. However, it would be different if she had the same experience. So for that question, she abstained from given a A or B answer.
However, from the drama, I realised, it is not about right or wrong or about the lies. It is about us as a person, and how do we choose to resolve our issues and problems. It is also about life’s process. We all have different experiences, but often we dont put ourself in other’s perspective. What I realised from years of experience are that we are like a “mirror that reflect the demons” or in mandarin “zhao yao jing”. Very often that mirror is used to look at others faults, but very seldom do we use it to look at ourselves. I too fell into that fallacy and a great many times. That is why I like about this drama, all the characters are less than perfect, and at least the writer did a good job in making all learnt their lessons. The acting is great too with LBY and her father and the rest of the casts.

  199. 199 : kdfan Says:

@jennie i didnt realize you sent me a PM. Just went to check, yes i got it! Over there ppl r so active i was too busy catching up reading n wasnt looking at msg box. Yes LBY was second lead in Save, she was so pretty there I bet JS fell in love at first sight. I suspect he may hv broken up wt his then gf to go after LBY. She does hv a very beautiful smile, irresistible, i m sure LSY is also very smitten as many commentors over at S seem to notice as well. I just finished watching the finale, what a great ending. It has everything we wished for for fotg ending but did not get then .. Hugs, kisses, wedding n babies! Love this writer to pieces :) Btw i m not a fan of melo but i hv been watching it n also visiting That Winter thread. No other drama is getting me hooked, will miss MDSY a lot!

@poonie, @kdfan & @Micc Yay for the ending. I have been grinning from ear to ear since watching the final episode. It is such an awesome ending – we were just hoping for a happy ending and wow, we definitely got so many presents, didnt we? Is it Christmas? Or my birthday? 😉 Yes, @kdfan, I love Writer So too- she rewarded us with so much – a double wedding, a baby and twins on the way…that’s how all endings should be!! I will definitely look out for Writer So’s next project!
Btw, I saw that episode on Happy Together too and those two look so good together that I wish I could ship them in real life. I think if I were LBY, I’ll pick LSY over JS – love love that smile of his and he’s taller too 😀 😀

  202. 202 : kdfan Says:

@Jennie i think LSY is so cute with that adorkable smile but i perhaps JS is a better half for LBY bec she mentioned he does cute stuff and surprises for her. I think LSY is a thinker, serious A type whereas JS is more cheerful and fun, seems more compatible with LBY’s personality. I will wait for the subs and enjoy another 3 weeks of the show. Can’t let it go yet :)

finally finish this. sure going to miss this series, feels like “family”…
very nice! i like it very much! very natural story, not dwelling too much on money, looks or fame. some k-drama seem to dwell too much on those.
one thing being underlined: never think that you can really know what others are thinking, how they are feeling no matter how smart/knowledgeable/emphatic you think you are…people tend to judge/look at others only through their own frame of reference, perspective which is of course always to a certain limit… we can never really put ourselves in someone else’s shoes…breeding ground for misunderstanding/conflicts…

  224. 224 : missy Says:

and also congrats to all making this series completed so beautifully. to all actors/ess, writer, director..etc.
Chun Ho Jin – here he played as a poor father, money wise and character wise, he played it well, with his short steps/gait – the way he walks…very different character in City Hunter where he acted as President where he walked differently.
Lee Bo Young – also played her character well, a very different character from the one that i’ve seen her in Mr Goodbye.
Lee Sang Yoon, displayed a good chemistry with Lee Bo Young, i think it would be “different” if played by Kim Ji Hoon, LSY is more appropriate i think.
Kim Hye Ok, i like her character most, from sort of helpless house wife to a “significant” madame….
Choi Yoon Young (1986), she looked very different from the girl character that she played in Kim Tak Goo, Baker King..
……and the rest of them…. congrats to all…
