  18. 18 : Mich Says:

Unlike the typical sappy Korean tearjerker, historical dramas furnish foreigners like me with knowledge that is absent from our local syllabus. My interest in Korean history was piqued with Queen Seondeok and Great King Sejong. King Geunchogo is the third consecutive historical drama on my platter. The cast is stellar – Kim Ji Soo manages to traipse between tragic and pretty at once with her role as Bu Yeo Hwa. Kam Woo Sung is able to flesh out the multi-faceted phases of Yeogu’s life. I’m a Chinese who dislikes Chinese historical dramas, loathe the tale of The Three Kingdoms and know next to nothing about the various dynasties and such. Yet, the appeal of Korean epics simply oscillates towards the other end of the continuum & I’m totally enamoured with these historical gems! 🙂

  19. 19 : cathy Says:

Agree , but in K drama not like Japanese historical , Samurai , they make up and dress too contemporary , even in battles , specially female casts their clothes are to clean too new ….so unrealistic .

  20. 20 : diefan Says:

sooo i’m excited.. new twist to this drama they adding new casts T-ara eunjung and Qri, and supernova (CSS) park geonill. i’m diffinitely watching it because of them… ya ya ya!! wooo hooo.

I just discovered this series, so I missed a lot of episodes. In the few episodes that I saw, it seemed as though Yeogu and Yeohwa have loved each other since childhood. Then the woman married a mean king but eventually she got divorced(?) from that king. Then, I saw an episode where Yeogu married a woman (I think her name was Bu) and then he also married Yeohwa and made her his queen. The first wife, who was extremely jealous of Yeohwa, eventually became pregnant – then I lost track of the series.

In last night’s episode, many years after, I gathered that the first wife had now two grown-up children. I also gathered that Yeohwa, the queen, also became pregnant. What happened to the baby? Also, it appeared as if the queen was no longer the queen – she was dethroned and replaced by the other wife. It looked as if Yeohwa had been completely abandoned by Yeogu. It seemed inconceivable because Yeogu, many years before, had given a note to Yeohwa saying that no matter where she was and no matter who she was with, she would always be his wife. The whole thing seemed so cruel. Yeohwa looked so poor and completely ignored by the man who years before promised his undying love to her. Bu, is now the queen seemed almost gloating, and Yeohwa seemed to have nothing but hatred toward Yeogu.

Can anyone give me a synopsis of what happened between these two lovers.

  23. 23 : gingee Says:

Yeohwa thought her son died, so she went downhill after that, she blamed
everybody else, plus the king too. All her follower talked her into going against the king, and she got greedy, wanted more power all to herself.
That is the lowdown. Her son became the crown prince, cuz the second
wife, became the first queen, took her son in as her son. She still
didn wanna claim her son wen she found out about it. What a mother. The
ending wuz great, the king accomplished what his daddy wanted him to
    do. Gud Gud Drama

  27. 27 : ~Sue nz Says:

I have just finished wting this dramaon cctv9 New Zealand, and the english trans is sooo bad it is virtualy incomprehensible, so I have found reading these remarks have clarified many aspects for me. Prior to this I know nothing of the history of Korea, this sounds as if there was a great deal more intrigue than I was able to grasp. thank you. This has made me a fan of Korean History.

  28. 28 : Jae Says:

There is a huge difference in the portrayal of “So Seo No” in this series versus the other series, Prince of the Legend. In “Jumong” she was portrayed as a kind, reasonable person who left the nation for the assurance of peace within the nation as well as her tribesman. In this series she’s portrayed as a greedy, unreliable power monger who wants to place her children on the throne. In addition, his son is portrayed as a weakling in this series versus a warrior king as he was in the other series.

  29. 29 : vercsike1 Says:

  30. 30 : MeTaLcIcC Says:

I am a big movie fan, especially loving the movies with PLOT, great CHARACTERS and DEEP MEANING.
Additionally, this is historical, which teaches the people about very important things of behaviour and the way about thinking in a social environment. I am 30, but i was teached by this serial in so many aspects, i only can say, im speachless!!!
During watching the drama, i couldnt really sleep at nights, and if yes, i was dreaming i would be there and felt the sufferings of the characters, I was daydreaming about it in my workplace too. This masterpiece is so natural, so realistic, it touches several rare parts of my soul i almost forgot about those exsistence.
I envy the Korean people, that they have so fantastic actors, filmmakers, music writers and designers, whom i really rarely meet on the screen.
Til now The Octopus was my favourite serial, now it has a big competitor: King Geunchogo, The King Of Legend!
I would like to thank you for those unforgettable (not only) 60 hours you bestowed me.
Hopefully this drama get well- known all around the world, because it deservers it.
    Big RESPECT from Hungary.
