For several episodes including Episode 13, I was not happy with the writers about the storyline. Is Seol Hee dumb or what? She did not handle her divorce rationally and paid the price for that in Episodes 12 and 13. She revealed her strategy to Jee Wook so that he could mount his defense. Dumb, stupid! I could not agree with the writers at all. She cannot be a legend, period. She is simply playing dumb. That was evident since she admitted her lost-cause towards the end of Episode 13. The writers overturned that plot at the very last moment. I do not see why such twist is needed to continue the litigation. Then why did she concede her defeat to Ji Wook? I have much sour feeling about the merchants approving her pursuit of justice all of sudden. Comic! The story is absurdly changing its course. The whole story could be better presented by portraying Seol Hee’s pursuit of her dream of becoming a lead singer in a band without much of legal tug of war between her and her ex. But even with all of these disagreeing points, I am compelled to watch to see the end.

As you predicted, “Ji Wook is not going away from Seol Hee to quickly or easily!” At the end of Episode 14, I wonder Ji Wook provided Seol Hee with a dvd containing damaging evidence (criminalizing his family business) to Seol Hee. If that is the case, it is a big surprise. The writers might have saved this big surprise this late in the drama. The drama is gearing for the finale and bringing some (poetic) justice finally, I hope. We will see next week if that is the case.

Still waiting to see ep. 13! Saw ep. 14 in the raw, though!

@kdrama_fan! It’s true that Ji Wook is still around, but I sense it’s more guilt than anything else, and that he and Seol Hee will not get back together! It seems his flesh is too attached to Seung Hyena. Plus, he hurt Seol Hee too badly when he told her she was his biggest mistake…which means the baby was his biggest mistake! That’s one of the #1 worse things a man could ever tell a woman that he was enamored with…that their relationship was a lie! Then there’s #2…in addition to treating Seol Hee like she was a mistake, especially after losing the baby…treating another woman as if she was his wife when she’s not! Totally deceptive in every area! Well, I say to the writers…surprise ME…during the last episode!

Also, there’s something else I noticed. Seung Hye is confident as if a queen shark in the heart of the sea while in the court room spewing out her entraping tactics when she cross examines the opposing sides witnesses, but highly insecure in her relationship with Ji Wook…and rightfully so! She’s an adultress! How low-life, insecure, and desperate it is to go after and have relations with another woman’s husband, creating a separation and act as if she did nothing wrong! She needs the law of reciprocity to storm her life by teaching her behind a lesson she will never forget!

It seems like everyone is watching ep. 13! It looks like I’m going to have to wait a while before I can watch it! It really must be good!

What is the name of song at the end of episode 15? It’s about love & roses. Who is the original singer?

This scenario is pivotal in Korean drama because the media has considered “ahjummas” as a silent group. Women married with kids are invisible in Korea. They raise kids, care for husband, serve the in-laws – these women have no identity of their own. This drama gives a voice to this invisible group. It would have been a superb drama had the writers developed these characters with more depth. Nevertheless, congratulations are in order to the writers & producers for looking into its society with a different lense.

@ USA, the song at the end of ep15 is [A Million Roses] which is sung by Comeback Madonna band in this drama.

  9. 59
    kdrama_fan Says:

    @56 USA

The original song was sung by a Russian singer by Alla Pugacheva in 1983, Million Roses. You can watch her singing on YouTube.

Many songs in the drama are variations of songs published before. For example, Reminiscence by Kim Jung Eun which I like is almost originally sung a long time ago in 1982.

The final episode seemed to end abruptly. I have a sour taste since I have enthralled with an uplifting story throughout the drama. When the members of Comeback Madonna Band are about to see their fame, they decide to dissolve the band for minor inconveniences. Very funny. Not plausible. The drama could extend to add a couple more episodes. Nevertheless, Kim Jung Eun did a fine job in the drama. She acted very well. She rocks.

  11. 61
    USA-Mary Says:

@kdrama_fan. I agree…very weak ending…it seemed crammed! As adults, all they had to do was communicate and let the manager know to not book their interviews and performances back to back like that…totally crazy! I really don’t understand the writers on this part when they had them just quit! Even though they’re on the road to fame, as adult women, they were still in control of the pace that took them there, in comparison to teenagers who don’t know much about negotiations!

And that Seung Hye(na), to the end was still a piece of work!

  12. 62
    kdrama_fan Says:

    @ 61 USA-Mary

Thank you for your review about the drama. Is the poetic justice done to Cha Ji Wook and his family, or to Oh Seung Hye? I completely forgot about this poor (no, wicked) woman Seung Hye. She just got away. I am sure she was bitter for being used and dumped by Ji Wook and his family. But she safely got away. Too many loose-ends. The love between Seol Hee and Tae Hyun just fizzled. There were no fierce flames at all between them. I like the video clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcBuMRrjeG0) of Ji Wook drinking hard after the final court battle, though. He was agonizing about everything he realized as precious moments between him and Seol Hee. I wish that subplot could be further developed and love triangle could evolve. Nothing happened. Ji Wook just said, “I am sorry”. Very comic.

Simply, the story doesn’t cut it. I thought that “Coffee House” had a very disappointing ending. But I would say, “I like that drama better among this year’s crop”.

Well, it is good to know that you live in the Wind City. I found it out by reading City Hall webpage. We are in the same state. I live in Peoria, IL. Keep up with your thought-provoking and honest opinions on Korean dramas. I enjoy reading your postings.

    USA-Mary Says:

@kdrama_fan. Wow! We do live close to each other!

About the drama…there’s actually no poetic justice, as I see it! Well, maybe for the people who won’t lose their businesses in the mall area! The relationship between Seol Hee and Tae Hyun was just friendly, then later on, light flirting! As a new divorcee, it’s like TH is giving her room to heal…but will definitely be close by! Re Seung Hye…given her character, she wasn’t used by Ji Wook…she’s a user and a control freak in her own right! She desired Ji Wook and went after him while he was married. He allowed his mother to drive a wedge between he and Seol Hee. This is just my opinion, but as I see it, nobody twisted Seung Hye’s her arm, put a gun to her head, or threatened to take her first born if she committed adultery! It was a convenient relationship for her lifestyle, until she fell in love with JW! If you noticed…even her ex, TH was shocked when he saw that she was the ‘other’ woman! My theory on her being a control freak peaked after she decided not to take her son from Tae Hyun when she goes abroad, all due to Seol Hee’s talk with her. As long as no woman was interested in TH (in this case, Seol Hee) it was okay for her son to remain with him. I like what Seol Hee did for Tae Hyun (without him knowing it). It was unselfish and admirable. Seung Hye, on the other hand, was using their son as a pawn, threat, and excuse to assure that TH would remain single. Why should TH be happy with Seol Hee, if Seung Hye couldn’t be with Ji Wook! Yet, broom-rider extraordinaire, Seung Hye(na) could neglect, break promises, see her son when she felt like it (usually to bug the dad in the interim), make her job her priority over his birthday party at school, all without any interruption to her lifestyle. But the least little thing that happened when TH wasn’t around, resulted in a squabble from her! In her mind, her conduct was acceptible…there’s no remorse! Plus, she didn’t accept JW breaking up with her! Crazy! Well, in a sense she did in the end get her just desserts…JW split up with her, whether she accepted it or not!

I did like the look on Ji Wook’s face while Seol Hee’s was performing! I must say, he looked sexy…very sexy! I guess it was a mixture of being proud of her and missing what he lost! Also, when he apologized to her for not cherishing their memories…they wouldn’t have wound up where they were at the present, if he had done so. I really liked that, even though it was waaaaaay after the fact. I believe that he finally realized that not only did she not want him for his money (as his mother constantly drilled into his psyche), she really did love him, and had more scruples and dignity than his mother, uncle and side woman!

I really love this drama. The last episode, when her husband apologizes to her for letting her suffer alone, unwilling to let her go, and bringing the war in front of the court and for not cherishing their memories. I really felt his sincerity to his SH. I think he finally realized that he lost her forever and his fault for not treasuring her while she was by his side. SH really became a legendary.

  16. 66
    eugene Says:

Eventually, SH feels relieve. I think because because she finally has JW’s apology

  17. 67
    USA-Mary Says:

The look on JW’s face when Seol Hee told him that their relationship was one sided…in other words, she really loved him and he didn’t really love her, as she found out! But, she didn’t hold it against him…Priceless!

From what I see…I believe that the last day of divorce court began JW’s journey into the realizatiion of truth (he was swigging on the bottle because a glass wasn’t large enough to drown out his pain) about Seol Hee. She didn’t expose his debauchery, didn’t take his money…was never cross or unpleasant towards him…even when she found out about Seung Hye(na)! She stood on the principle of truth and triumphed in her heart with dignity! The writers had JW discover too late for recovery (who would return to him with that woman as a mother-in-law…ewww), that Seol Hee had all the qualities of a good woman for him, but he disregarded her and didn’t give her a chance to bring it into fruition! What was at one point suppressed, deep down in his psyche has now surfaced…he didn’t protect her from the verbal demeaning, battering of his mother and the stress that caused her to the lose their child! He was the cause…he was to blame (for allowing himself and the other demons against his union, talk into his ears…his momma on one shoulder, and Seung Hye(na) fluttering around him like a queen bee to a drone on the other)…and no one else!

I believe this drama was too short…it could have gone on for at the most 2-3 more episodes! Like maybe doing a 2 to 4 years later!

Still want to see last part of ep. 16…broken link!

The first time I find out about this drama, I was very excited. It was a come back for Kim Eun Jun. I love the concept when I watched the preview. I love the cast, I’ve watched them in different dramas that i why I know their good at acting.

But, I was quite disappointed when I watched the drama. Their trailer is different with the story. I thought this drama was about different female auditioning to form a new band. Or it is about different experiences of a band and the life of a band. That is why I thought it will be fun to watch.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the casts , but the story is not that eye catching. I mean, it only focus on law, and Kim’s life, but not all the life of the ,member of the band and their life as a band.

Even the love story is confusing. I wish she and her husband has go back together or she and Lee Joon Hyuk could have been together.

it’s a pity why the story lack so much when they have beautiful and wonderful actors and actresses..

Still, I’ll always be a fan of Kin Eun Jun! Ajah! Vivian!
