Synopsis
Goong is a story about young love in face of tradition, politics, and intrigue. In the imaginary world, modern-day Korea is a constitutional monarchy and the Royal Family lives in a grand Palace, the Goong. Story opens with the sudden death of the reigning the King. Faced with the decreasing popularity among the public for the Royalty, a grand wedding for the Crown Prince, Lee Shin, is decided to be the best publicity move to improve the image of the Royalty and at the same time prepare Shin for immediate succession. The intended bride? The headstrong, awkward, and sweet spirited Shin Chae Kyung that just happens to go to the same exclusive art school. Chae Kyung was betrothed to become the next Crown Princess by her grandfather and Shin’s grandfather.
After 14 years of living in England with his mom, Lee Yul appears all of a sudden. He is Shin’s cousin as well as the former Crown Prince. Everything seemed to be going normally until Chae Kyung’s optimistic spirit wins the heart of internally lonely, Yul. As the Crown Prince Shin and simple-minded Chae Kyung’s relationship appear to developing deeper feelings, a series of scandals are exposed to the public right after the pair were officially announced married. Will love prevail all in a world of political pressures and martial hardships? Or will being in the spotlight of the public be too much for the young newlyweds to endure?

i bought this series and i love it soooo much….very different from the other series i’ve bought….hope this will be shown here in the philippines and i hope gma 7 will air this…..nice job to all the cast…..aja aja fighting!

I’m not yet sure but there are rumours that princess hour two would omit some of the season 1 cast. I hope not…
Anyway this series is so great i cant wait for the second season to be exported here in the philippines…

This drama is really good. They mix in that subtle humor with the seriousness of the drama. Kim Jeong Hoon is an awesome actor and I think Yoon Eun Hye did a better job acting out her role here than in the Vineyard Man. Not that there was much of a difference, but her character suited her. Overall, I give this drama 8 out of 10. And like everyone else, I hope Goong 2 will keep the original cast. Looking forward to watching it! 🙂

the story has its hilarious moment, sad moment funny moment sweet moment! i love this movie a lot. i was actually expecting more for the ending though. but nevermind. it is still worth it!

I think everybody, including myself, loves Goong 1. I am just saddened that the orginal cast won’t be in “Goong 2”. I thought it’s gonna be a continuation of one of the most love k-series in 2006. I have nothing against the cast of “Goong 2”, but I just wish that since the original cast isn’t there anymore, the producer should change the title altogether, so that “Goong 1′ can preserve it’s originality and popularity, without others banking on it.

I found this show was very boring. I read the manga long before knowing that it would be adapted into a television show, and so when I did find out it was going to be made into a drama I was excited. Unfortunately, the show wasn’t very good. The costumes and settings were very pretty, but other than that, the acting was just blah and the pace of the drama was VERY SLOW. So slow in fact, that it made the drama dull and nothing special.

dis ish another korean drama dat i lye..the settings,costumes ‘n’ storyline are very new “n” interesting.. Eun Hye ish very adorable “n” bubbly in the show..the “princes” in the show are wondeful!!both are good-looking “n” have acted well in their respective roles… this show ish very funny “n” i really look forward to the sequel wif the original casts!!! This film was so great i really enjoyed watching it. It’s nice that this film is now here in the philippines. All cast are amazing especially the main cast

Min Hyo-rin (Monique). The episode 16 is nice i really love it. I Hope they would have a chance to visit here in the Philippines and I’m hoping that it will have a Goong part 2 and the cast will still remain in the film. 🙂

All i can say that Goong/Palace or Princess hours here in the philippines was the great..it was the best among the other korean dramas that i had watched..i really loved the combination of Yoon Eun-Hye and Jo Ji-Hoon..Grabe!kinikilig ako!..Okay,lastly i would say that please watched this one again and again…Because it will surely make your day colorful..the story was full of drama and Love..Go..Go..go Gian at Janelle!!!

Very cute series. I’ve watched it twice. It has such a great storyline. And it makes it extra exciting that she’s marrying a guy who has a girlfriend! What an obstacle!! I adore this actress. She’s so goofy. They made her too serious and mopey in the latter half of the series, but it’s still really good. The kiss scene was fabulous. 🙂

great plot! very…very amusing. The actor and the actress very cute and handsome. I really love the drama and also the song theme. It’s very touch. All girl in my school always have a tought about this ‘my girl’. It such as a phenomenon in Malaysia and also to other Asian countries. Great Work! I’d love to see other superb drama from Korea.

… I watched this together with my 15-year old daughter. Thsi is not my kind of series, but my daughter loved it sooooo much that she made the promotional picture her pc wallpaper after watching it. She even promoted it to her classmates who came over to the house to watch it. And they all loved it! I guess, this is popular among the young ones.

watched the series over and over (and over and over…) so do you get it? It is a definite classic! I like how the characters matured. I like the funny scenes. I like the costumes, the music, the lines (“I am here with you but I still miss you.”). Mushy? Maybe at times, but if you don’t watch this, you would have missed one heck of a good show!

princess hours is the best korean drama ever than jumong. jumong is so boring to watch and it’s too long. i can say that this korean drama has a cool cast because they are good in acting especially the main cast even they they are new in their acting career. i love yeh and jjh. i really hope that they will have a movie together even it’s not princess hours or they will have a new korean drama together and i also hope it’s true the rumors about the princess hours 2 with desame cast.

i was finally able to watch this, and i have to say that for the most part i did enjoy it, but it really did not have to be 24 episodes. i think it took away a lot by being so long and adding a lot of unnecessary and boring side things to fill the time (goes to show that greediness for money can ruin such good things). i loved all the characters (especially grandma, she was so cute), setting, and costumes but what was up with the ending????

yeah agree. Kim Jung hoon kinda acted gayish in this one, I thought he was better in Witch Yoo-Hee [Witch Amusement]. Parts of the palace scenes were BORINGGGG..and I just wanted to get to the funny scenes. lol. But the two royal leads did a great job. Funny and sad at certain scenes. Good story line. Highly recommended.

I love this series. I thought Goong 2 means part two of this seried but I guess not. Park Hyun Hye really knows how to act. Kim Jeong Hoon is really cute and I love it when he cries, he’ really sincere. I wish they will come up with a part 2 for this series. Wherein they will show the married life of the two main characters as well as a new love interest for Kim Jeong Hoon.

I am rewatching this drama for the hundreth time and I am always surprised at just how much I love it. It is such a fabulous show! I doubt any other Kdrama will ever top this for me.
Does anyone have any official information of this drama going into a second season anytime soon? Or is everything circulating around the net just speculation and rumors? Because I would love to see Goong 2 with all the characters we have come to know and love from the original…

Yoon Euh Hye is a very good actress, very cool and very simple. I’ve watched you in vineyard man, coffee prince and believe it or not i’ve watched princess hour (aka Goong) 3x i love this drama.
Joo Jin Hoon is very cool and promising actor too. I like the way he acted upon The Devil story.

i finished watching coffee prince and it was good…it made me remember about goong anyway because of eun hye…
love this series! i watched this 2 years ago and i loved it so much…
i miss goong… i hope the sequel will really push through because it’s so sayang…it has a nice plot and the end was quite hanging so they have to keep the story going…
i want to see joo ji hoon and yoon eun hye again.. although it may be quite impossible now because they are both very busy working on their own projects…
they really look good together and i wish they will realize that themselves in real life… :8)

I just recently got introduced to Korean dramas. All I can say is wow. I love Goong. The actors are great especially Ju ji hoon. I already saw Coffee Prince and I was just floored by her performance. This just shows how you can have great drama without all the X rated ( e.g Gossip Girl)stuff and still have chemistry and romance. Great job korea.

great script! I like the prince-queen from the start.she would make a competent and happy queen! Shin will do well in anything, he has the traits of a good comander. Yuli is a romantic, he will have no problem finding love. as for the wishy washy King, I am glad he chose retirement! Koreans are great at story telling. the ending is just the film makers’ joke on us, making us scratching our heads wondering ” when did they do it? ” ha ha

Very enjoyable drama. Though I am a mom, still feel that the couple is cute, loving and a perfect match. Both seems so natural and a lot of chemistry between them. One of the best love story after romeo n juliet and titanic.

Goong is the best korean drama i’ve ever watched possibly also because of how much they talked abt hte korean culture and all. the decorations of the goong was really great and well done! it brought out the whole feel so well.
the lead actor and actress also put in alot of effort to make this turn out so well.. can tell from their BTS/NGs haha..

i love Princess Hours (Goong) so much!!! My favourite korean drama so far….i really hope they’ll make a Goong 2 with JJH and YEH in it, even though it’s probably highly unlikely….

So far I find it boring and so slooow- ho hum. I am up to chapter 12 and so far it was the only chapter to keep me awake so maybe ,just maybe the writers had a strong coffee and put a bit of zip into this drama.
Give me Queen of the Game,Time Between Dog and Wolf,Witch in Love,Revenge, Green Rose,Sam Soon,All In,Dr Gang,Coffee Prince,outrageous women etc.as much better. But then that is my inbiased opinion.

to those people who can’t relate to this drama, try to check your psychologist, ask him/her for a behavioral exam so you’d know whether you have attitude problem or not… it’s quiet an amusing story, you don’t have to pretend as someone so great and perfect when you watch it. they have imperfections just like normal people… it’s something for those who knows the boundary between fantasy and reality yet they know how to appreciate things that are unseen with the naked eye… just like air, just like love.
good thing joo ji-hoon and yoon eun-hye are not off cam couple, eun-hye is older and her real boyfriend is the singer/actor(co-actor)kim jeong hoon… so, girls! celebrate, ’cause ji-hoon is availabe!

GOONG is simply one of the best Korean drama series I’ve watched by far. I loved it from the start to the end. I really really really really really hope that there would be a sequel to it and that they remain true to the viewers and keep the actors. Simply amazing. I laughed. I cried. I screamed. I gawked. I was mad. I was happy. I was shocked.. Oh gosh I could keep going. It made me feel every emotion they were feeling. I just loved it.

Bravo ! A fabolous drama and through this drama I like JJH very very much. The director made a good choice by choosing JJH become the Prince Shin. The plot of the sequel would have closely followed the plot of the remaining volumes of the manhwa. The production company, Eight Peaks was aiming to re-sign the entire original cast for the sequel Goong 2.
Last year, Eight Peaks stated that they would aim to film Goong 2 in late 2007 or early 2008.[3][4] However, Yoon Eun Hye and Kim Jeong Hoon have stated their wishes to withdraw from Eight Peaks due to conflicting problems with the company. Yoon Eun Hye has already ended her contract with Eight Peaks and has moved onto Kraze Entertainment.[5] Without the complete main characters of the first season, it is most likely there will be no sequel of Goong.

The drama was touching in episode 23-24.. I cried a lot.. Tearjerkers.. But, Kim Jeong Hoon was too old to play role as a senior high school student.. But, the drama was good enough at all.. Don’t forget to watch Boys Before Flowers, if u like romance comedy with a touching ending..

I am totally engaged in this kdrama for the 2nd time around. They are such excellent actors. Great period costume designers and scenery. I wonder if they’ll do a sequel, depending on the response?!! Anything is possible!

I first watched this (Goong) a few years back and then I just recently watched Coffee Pince and I figured it was Yeo Yun-hee playing each role but when I was told that it was, I still couldn’t help but be amazed. Kind of cool when you find out that you were a fan but you didn’t know that you were.

when will the sequel be? its been 3 yrs since Goong I… i hope the network who provided the Goong I will do the II with the same actors and with a nice story plot… i just recently watched this series but it left an indelible mark in mind and heart 🙂 …. i just love the story and the actors…. if the network cant make the sequel, maybe they can make another series with YEH and JJH as lead characters (they are so good together on screen)… hope this message will be read by all tv networks in Korea… salamat.

i really love Yoon Eun Hye on Goong and Coffee prince and based on my research, MBC network was the one who produced these series so i am hoping that the network could remake Japan’s NANA wherein YEH will play the role of Osaki Nana. i just believed that the network will give life and justice to this much loved anime by Yazawa, Ai (NANA’s author) and will launched YEH to another aspect of her acting career.
[i find it hard to find MBC, KBS, or YEH’s website wherein i could put this blog or post my suggestion thus im posting it here. i am hoping that YEH’s avid fans in Korea can post it on the right site 🙂 ]

i just finished watching the show on dvd, and i like it. in fact it is beeing shown again in one of the tv stations here in the philippines. i’m touched at prince troy’s love for princess janelle the crown princess, it is a piety that when he met the crown princess the latter is already married to his cousin prince gian the crown prince. but good for the crown prince because at the end of the day he has a change of heart from a cold hearted prince to a loving & sensitive husband to his wife.
i just wish that there will be a sequel to this drama!

sigh…just finished watching this drama, from the start to finish all over again, and yeah… i’m totally in love all over again with all of them… i really really want Yoon Eun Hae and Joo Ji Hoon again, together making a series like this, their chemistry is way too perfect just to end it all here… this has the best plot ever, now in my own personal ranking of the best drama i’ve ever seen, Princess hours and Meteor Garden(all version) is on my No. 1 spot (before I’ve seen PH, i thought nothing could ever compare against Meteor Garden)… how i wish they’re for real… and a love story like that really exists in this real world, not just in our fantasy… To all the casts and crews… Kamsahamnida for making us, fans of PH, really happy…

At first, the story is exciting.. but it became quite dragging when Shin Chae-kyung is torn between Lee Shin and Lee Yul, also when the “past” of the King and the mother of Lee Yul complicates the whole story!

hi.i love this drama.si lovely.but i really want to know why always in korean dramas the girl choose the one who has another girl.doesnt love her.hurt her.and not the one who is so caring and lovely.good looking.he know all girl s problem and is by her side.but ahe always reject him.why?while the first guy doesnt know any thing like junpyo.he was really a fool.but the girl loved him over jihoo.we had junpyo and jihoo.yul and shin.joong woo and i dont remember lee dong wook s characterjn my girl.why it is like that?is this the same in real world.girls choose the boys who hurt them not the caring boys?it s un acceptable.i really want a korean drama that the girl falls in love with the second guy in it.really really.it s a refreshing and change

love this drama though there are boring but still their love story was so cute, you’ll definitely fall in love..hope to see yoon eun hye and joo ji hoon again in another korean drama…. love them so much, they’re so natural on TV. seems that they are really a couple. until now still enjoyed watching it. they really really look good together. so sad to know that they will not play the lead role for the new korean drama THE PERSONAL TASTE…please please we are really looking forward to their next team up… *wink*

Welll… I’ve watched this movie about two years ago, and start to watch it again today. The same impression two years ago until now. I love this drama! Everyone performed so well. I secretly cheer Yoon eun hye and Kim Jeong hoon. Wish they could be couple. But i also like Lee Shin. so passive, but still full of grace and auro. Haha. Goong, fighting!

If “My Girl” introduced me to Kdrama years ago this one sealed my addiction. I love the characters and the music were all wonderful. This is one of the most memorable Kdrama out there for me, I would never forget the day our DVD player literally blew because I was doing a marathon on this non stop. I only stop to snatch some sleep in between (“,). That time, it was a good thing I was on vacation for a whole month in the Philippines when I started my addiction. So in commemoration of that day. This drama will always stay among my top 10 list ever.

I started watching this drama when it first came out because of all the hype, I got to episode 2 and just stopped watching because it was a very slow start and I was bored. But one random day, I thought I’d give it another chance and I’m really glad I did because it’s in my top most favorite dramas of all time! I love the setting, it’s so so so beautiful. And the palace! Just so cool to look at, the furniture, the outfits, everything is royalty!
And I love the main couple. Yoon Eun Hye is my favorite Korean actress, and she plays her role as a new princess extremely well. She and the prince have great chemistry. JUST LOVED IT! It does drag a lot towards the end, but trust me, if you haven’t seen this drama you WILL NOT WANT TO MISS IT!

Another must watch drama – Gumiho – Tale of a Fox child. – The picture look scary but actually the drama is not scary but exciting. The actors and actresses including the kids all acted very very well.

hayzz.. I just watched this again.. I’m soo inlove with crown prince Shin and crown princess Chae Kyung..
I love the mother queen she is great one. She’s super hip. Her persistant shin and chaekyung to get married..and to get them in bed.. hafpa… that happa scene the most unforgetable scenes..hahaha..actually all episodes were unforgetable like the one in yul’s birthday party in that bed room where shin and chaeyung having ‘kodak moment’ that was funny.
Yul is adorable, but has a cheesy character, I thought. and Hyorin can die whatever!..haha Peace!
Goong is a winner. Awesome awesome Drama.

I just finished watching this drama. This is actually the 5th Kdrama I’ve watched. I so loved it. I really didn’t stop till I finished today. It was beautifully acted. The lead actress, Yoon Eun Hye, is very beautiful. I think this was her first drama, so with the lead actor, Joo Ji Hoon. Without even knowing, I knew, while watching the drama, that he is a model. The way he carries himself, his style, he is very attractive. He may not be as handsome as Minho, but he has an undeniable attraction, not to mention fine acting. I found the both of them, including the supporting cast, very good actors. The lead stars had great chemistry. I hope they can do another drama again, if the have not done so yet.

i didn’t like this series because of the lead actor here. he was so WOODEN. there was no chemistry at all from the lead stars. furthermore, it is 24 series long. it is too long for me. if it would be cut down to 16-18 episodes, i think it won’t be too dragging that way. it was also too-syrupy-sweet. i would like love story-series to end happilybut the production overdid it !

Very unique drama expressing a lot of thing through story love relation family etc have been reflected throughout story.the story has not only shown love after marriage between them but also relation of son and parents a prince who always waited to get love from his parents .the story makes u laugh in first early episode through princess and her familys childish behaviour but also makes u sad in its mid episodes and reaching the end story gets very sad as tears flow out in uncontrolled way hence this drama is fantastic although start was a bit weak but still it cover ups and raise story to other level till the end . Brilliant work is done by whole team actors actress director as well as whole technical team have done good music is fantastic songs are very touching and impressive all and all it is one of best deserving dramas of all time excellent work

mmm… i dont get their quarrel and make up cycle. it irritated me a lot and it spoiled the whole series. i think they overdid it. i enjoyed maybe 60% of the whole series and the remaining was just a waste. would i recommend this drama? uhm… yes if you dont have any drama to watch. this is not that bad because the viewers got to have a glipse of the korean monarchy even though it is just a make believe situation. 🙂

although i love this drama but i didn’t like the acting of the main female lead…..her acting was too childish which i totally hate….. but still loved the drama and joo ji hoon.

After watching this drama,
i have to said that “What a fantastic Korean Drama”
I Prefer Yoon Eun Hye pair with Joo Ji Hoon rather than Park Yo Chun (I Miss you, even though i’m one of Micky’s Fans)) & Kang Ji Hwan ( Lie To Me)!
Yoon Eun Hye & Joo Ji Hoon so cute together!! GOSHHH! Joo ji hoon with cold characters are in love with yoon Eun Hye – cheerful women!

It’s been 7 years and I’m still a fan. I think no other Korean drama can surpass Goong’s success. Up to this day, I’m still hoping that YEH and JJH can do a project together, not necessarily a Goong sequel but a more mature, romantic-comedy project. If not too much to ask, I hope they end up together. Keeping my fingers crossed.

princess hours is really a beautiful and romantic movie-drama it has a great quantities it has artistry and permanence . i was only grade five when i watch this movie but now i am fourth year and i still addicted to princess hours oh my gosh YOON EUN-HYE AND JU JI-HOON HAVE A PERFECT CHEMISTRY I HOPE THEY MEANT TO BE IN THE FUTURE AND THE THEIR ROLE IN THE MOVIE PRINCESS HOURS CAME TO REALITY…….. JU JI-HOON LOVE YOON EUN-HYE FOREVER.

It kind of drags at times. Then you have Prince Yul with the lipstick and the Femenine prndant. His mother with that stupid wig on once she is back on the palace. Yoon Eun Hye acts like a stupid kid all the time and she does active an airhead do why would the prince fall in love with her, not that I like the ballerina pone

just finished waching
and it really worths watching, i’ve been addicted to it and now i am looking and looking for another great drama but still can’t get over it
i especially looved joo ji hoon acting, he was amaaaaaazing and he shows the transformation of the young prince’s personnality in the most perfect way possible

remarkably, this drama is still among my favorite korean dramas of all time. ^^ i still get excited to watch it even after 2 or 3 times it was first shown here in the philippines. it still makes me laugh, cry and get pulled at the heartstrings whenever i watch it. it is like a timeless classic that never goes out of style. i also think this is yoon eun hye’s best drama performance, and the character suits her very well. i do agree that she and joo ji hoon look good together as a couple. ^^ hoping for another good royal drama like this one.

SHIN GOON! SHIN GOON! SHIN GOON! Chaegyung really loved him so much. She cried nonstop and the scene where she ran behind the car was so heartbreaking. The last episode is full of cries. After the solving the problems they had, they met again. That meeting should be filled with hugs and kisses. Hahaha. Awkward moment for the two. Aigoo! They got married again. It’s not really satisfying because they should show the couple’s life after they had a child. I’m just imagining it and it makes me feel that the two are really very sweet and at a young age, they already had a cute family! Ashishi. 🙂 I feel sad because I can’t imagine that I already finished watching this drama. I will never forget this. I was not able to watch this last 2006 but this really made me love Korean dramas more and more. I’m currently watching Ju Ji-hoon in “Medical Top Team” and he changed a lot after the controversies he faced. His face got slimmer than the way he looked during “Princess Hours”. Despite that, I like him. 🙂

Princess hours is great! I want to watch it again and again. Shin chaegyung was the best in terms of loving. She is very cheerful and happy. I wish princess hours have a part 2. Please please. I want to see their lives after they got married again and have many childrens. I really love this show.

After watching “lie to me” suddenly had the urge of re watching “Goong” i so love this drama , enjoyed watching this couple especially the special feature when the cast guested in the TV show where they showed the NG’s and personal interviews. i hope to see Joo ji hoon and Eun Yoon hye together in another drama.
