Great drama, tones of twists and turns, but way too much crying. (Lol)

Female lead role should have gone to someone else, too one dimensional.

The ending as others have stated is rushed. The beginning and ending of a story are just as important.

Watch it and you will enjoy but it comes with flaws.

Maybe 444 is supposed to be a play on 666. Not quite the devil but no saint either.

    Darrin Says:

Great series, but a seriously flawed ending — and it was doubly disappointing because the second-last episode was the best of the series. Saying Kim Joon’s never having existed would have changed Ha-Ram’s parents’ accident was ridiculous: he didn’t have anything to do with the accident. It’s like saying that if Abraham Lincoln had never been born, the Titanic wouldn’t have hit the iceberg.

I suppose someone thought getting Black and Ha-Ram together would make the fans happy, but whoever it was should have realized that fans expect a storyline to follow the show’s internal logic. Ha-Rams’ Reaper father was supposedly wiped out of existence because he’d killed a human despite having killed to save his wife’s life; Black deliberately killed humans and left a murderous fugitive on the loose, and yet he got a ‘fairy tale’ ending. The excuse seems to be that Black and Ha-Ram had to end up together because Joon was Ha-Ram’s ‘true love’ — but since when does anyone in their right mind think a six-year-old’s obsession qualifies as ‘true love’?

Long story short, Black could serve as an example of how to fall apart at the finish line. When you have to overturn the show’s internal logic and previous character set-ups to get your ‘ship to float, you’re doing it wrong. The ‘Reaper’ rules change; the Mall collapse — supposedly a core event — is resolved with a five-second TV interview; the doctor leaves her two young sons — one of whom has a potentially fatal heart condition — unsupervised for three days; Ha-Ram’s mother goes from ‘you evil creature’ to ‘You’re still watching over her, right, honey? — and the list just goes on.

I agree with the people who didn’t find Ha-Ram appealing, but to be fair, I don’t think it was the actor’s fault. There’s only so much any actor can do with what the writers give them, and what the writers gave her was a character who’d get five minutes of acting like an adult and then go right back to acting like a whiny kindergartener. In the end, that was what finished me on Joon and Ha-Ram as a couple: it was just too hard to believe even the teenaged boy Black was supposed to have changed back into when he regained his memory would fall so deeply in love with a six-year-old that he’d die for her.

Anyone who hasn’t watched this: just don’t watch the last episode and you’ll think it’s the greatest thing since hot buttered popcorn.
