    Ssk fan Says:

Fighting ssk….there is great chemistry between ssk & krw. I love 💕 tis drama and all the supporting cast. All dresses very well…good for the visual…and it’s a pure romance story and for those romantic at heart. Ssk is fighting hard not to love Krw character but I think she likes him since young. Next episode she will act a different character as she is possesses by Sharon. So looking forward. This could be her best drama and with krw to lead her…she will do extremely well….

  5. 55
    Kdramafan Says:

Wow I m blown away by the drama….there is suspense at the end of each episode that makes u long for more and waiting for the next. A simple romance but niche. The cast are excellent. The rapport and chemistry btw ssk & krw are developing, intensify & deeper each and every scene. Very realistic when two ppl likes & love each other. Krw supported ssk and brings out the best in her.
Look forward to see the two main leads as they light up the story & look forward to a fairy tale ending….keep up ssk & krw! My best couple…

No wonder why the ratings are high! Great cast! Great story! Thumbs up for this wonderful drama! Very unique! Highly recommended! Im already inlove with the 2 leads gosh they have the chemistry 😍 Shame on those bashers of SSH she is a very talented actress 👏 Shin Se Kyung and Kim Rae Won fighting!

I like her in this drama too..

This is highly recommended drama, it’s sure…
    The story is unique…

    But, i don’t really like shin she kyung’s acting…

Sharron… seo jin hye eonnie fighting

    Ana Says:

I have watched some ssk dramas before such as
Bride of the water god, fashion king, sensory couple, and when a man loves… and in those dramas, i didn’t know why, but i felt bored watching them and stopped at middle of dramas..and i didn’t like ssk though she was a main actress in those drama. Her acting was so flat, and in drama when a man loves, i didn’t like her character she played. She felt beautiful then betrayed her boyfriend…

Here (black knight)… the story is so good that i still keep watching…

Ssk’s acting here is better, but i like seo ji hye eonni more than her

  11. 61
    Snow Says:

Ana @ 60, I’m not a fan of SSK and her acting. She really doesn’t know how to show her emotions in romantic dramas. I thought the scene of her making out in When a Man Loves was embarrassingly bad. In this drama, her acting isn’t much better with the lead. I do love the side characters…the two witches are funny and they are saving the show for me. Poor KRW.

  12. 62
    Sweetpea Says:

Kdramafan @ 55, I have to disagree regarding the chemistry between the actors. I don’t see any at all. KRW is one of the best kissers in dramas. In A Thousand Day’s Promise, he was hot; the same in Doctors. In this drama–those kiss scenes are awful.

  13. 63
    Savvie Says:

A drama would be a smash hit if protagonists are well selected and their level of acting is seamlessly matched.

    – SSK’s acting is still mediocre in terms of the degree of acting depicted by so many korean actresses in diverse projects.

  14. 64
    Wati Says:

Seo Ji Hye EONNIE wow. daebak..

    like your acting here…

You look more beautiful than ssk I think.

If there is no SHARON here, this drama must be boring…

  15. 65
    tigerb Says:

@Sweetpea#62: re krw as one of best kissers in korean dramas, let me be the judge of that if and when i am at the receiving end of that kiss! lol!!!

    Macy Says:

I’ll say the truth- SSK’s acting sucks!!! Sorry not sorry.

  17. 67
    Scorpio1023 Says:

Sad to say that no matter how good a drama is… as long as the actress is SSK, I bypass them . Her acting is so fake as well as emotions. Started seeing her in Fashion King than When a man & another movie. I think it was Tazza, not sure about the title. But anyway, it never changed. She can’t connect to the viewers. Emotionless & flat affect. Just can’t get to watch her any longer. Instead of connecting with her, just can’t wait to get rid of her. SSK fans…this is MOHO…you have yours & I have mine. Just don’t hate my opinion !!!

    Wonderful and Awesome K-drama…….

The actor Kim Rae Won and actress Shin Se Kyung does a awesome job…….

Kim Rae Won is always a excellent actor that never fail us………
Great job for all crews include the writer with a lots of imagination…….

    Romantic Says:

Don’t understand why the rating is getting lower. It’s a pure love story of two characters that transcends two era. Love the chemistry between the two leads.

When the two leads are together they simply light up the whole scene.

Hope to see the two leads in more scenes together and a final fairy tale ending with beautiful wedding gown & suit in Slovenia.

    They rock!

  22. 72
    Snow Says:

Romantic @ 71, the reason the rating is dropping is because there is NO chemistry between the leads. He’s always looking a little sad, she’s always a little stupid and silly. Ep 14 it was just a bunch of stupid behaviors by the lead female.

I was hoping for the same chemistry that was in Doctors, but not even close. The female lead always comes across as klutzy in her movements. He just seems to mature for her. Their romance is BORING; there scenes together is boring. Sharon and Becky are the highlight in the drama, but getting tired of them too.

  23. 73
    Amy Says:

Snow @ 72, totally agreed with your comment. I lost my interest with this drama since 4 last episode. The magic are gone. Everything going downhill, from the mood to continue to watch it or drop it in the middle. The story line that started with interesting plot & great scenes suddenly become so boring. Try to find the reason why i watch, like & love this drama at the first place. But i can’t stand it anymore. I surrender. Give up. Anyway, i do love Kim Rae Won, Seo Ji Hye & Kim Sul Jin, so hopefully i can meet them again in another good drama that they deserved with their talented acting.

    teeonday Says:

okay I think shin is pretty thought she could ve done better in water god nam tried so hard but shin acting was toooooo flat.it’s not that she can’t act but I think she gets wrong roles for her. Now in this drama here yesss I love her acting yessssss finally some emotion thanks to Rae won finally shin shows that really she can act. I looove her in this drama she so comfortable and natural …….pss Rae won is an amazing actor he made park shin kiss scene amazing (Cz we all know park has terrible kissing scene she looks disgusted in them) surprisingly m liking this drama

  25. 75
    Gladys Says:

I think calling someone whom you dont like “stupid” and “silly” is just too much! SSK is loved in Korea as she’s a CF queen. How do you explain it if she gets to act 2 dramas within ONE YEAR?
BK’s rating isn’t too bad as compared to it’s recent competitors with so called international fans’ favourite stars having less than 7%, even recent one from Big 3 station having only between 2-3 % ratings.
HATE all you want but to use words like “stupid” and “silly” just show how LOW you can get and where you come from! I rest my case!😊😊😊

  26. 76
    Anna Says:

I like this drama. sohoo, sharoon, Jang baek he are the hero. shin se kyung is the beautifull manequin. she just stand in the arena but doing nothing. good looking indeed. she still use full makeup & red lipstick when she sleep. I like sharoon assistant. he unique. why hera ex boyfriend still there? he useless. he can’t help hera. he can’t make sohoo jealous. so why he still there?

  27. 77
    Yian Says:

I watched the first 2 epi, but found the drama lacking a plot line that draws the viewer into the overal storyline – good premise but crappy script. Also found a lack of charisma between the two main.

I fast forward the mid and restarted fully on 15 – still not grabbing at my soul!

Kim Rae Won is eye candy, but not enough to keep me watching. His portrayal here is 2 dimensional – from “in love” to sadness – the story narrative does not give him a deeper road to highlight his acting skills.

Best acting along with great viewer/character chemistry goes to –
    Seo Ji Hye as Sharon
Jang Mi Hee as Jang Baek Hee

They have a theatrical appeal to them that supports the fantasy feel of the show – which lacks compared to Goblin. That’s the problem – all future shows of this genre will be measured against goblin! Best show fantasy and supernatural wise atm is Korean Odyssey.

The romance aspect is mundane with Kim Rae Won as Moon Soo Ho and Shin Se Kyung as Jung Hae Ra – she is not an actress with great depth – she looks good, soft, with a Vaseline camera trick feel – soft and fluffy – but that’s it! No charisma pass the prettiness!!

Much has to do with the storyline and script writing.

  28. 78
    tigerb Says:

thing is, when one genre succeeds, competing similar genre dramas follow, and when a viewer watches all of these dramas, there’s really no level of measurement which is the best. they can be all boring as interest is saturated.

  29. 79
    Scorpio1023 Says:

    @Romantic 71

It is too obvious… the reason why this Drama is going to be a Flop is 100% the
leading actress SSK fault. Every Drama this lady stars is always a Flop. Feel sorry for the leading men that is & was paired with her. No matter how good the plot. once she’s in, it will always be a Flop. This one does not know how to act. Never improved including her facial impression. Just can’t stand watching her on screen. Feel bad for KRW why he accepted this role. SSK takes too much Dramas every year just to make a living… acting sucks. Sorry for all of her followers. You can agree with me or not… that is your opinion but what I said is MOHO !!!

  30. 80
    Yian Says:

Success in s series is firstly a good plot/storyline, along with a great script and finally a stellar cast.

Black Knight is kinda hit and miss. Love the premise of the story. It lacks in the characterization and script.

A good example of all these features is in Hwayugi: A Korean Odyssey which has a stellar cast whose actors have been in many prior drama together. There is also special guest spots from actors in previous Hong sister productions. A cast with great charisma and chemistry-
    Lee Seung-gi
    Cha Seung-won
    Oh Yeon-seo
    Lee Hong-gi
    Jang Gwang

You can’t go wrong here with these actors!

All awesome in their characterisation with a spike of humour and mythological reference.

  31. 81

Kim Rae Won is just so a natural acto!……you can see his happiness towards SSK and his ackwardness towards Sharon….and the stabbed scene Superb portrayal!

The wedding shooting at the studio and wedding are so surreal & romantic. Hope to see the main leads got more screen time together as lively dovey couple & a happy fairy tale ending.

    DeeAn Says:

Watched ep 17 and 18, why the plot is getting worst, the scene getting weird, no chemistry at all between 2 leads actor

  36. 86
    Snow Says:

BK Supporter @ 83, I wish I saw all that “chemistry” between the leads that you spoke of…..I see zero. Sorry, but the lead actress looks “clumsy” to me. When she runs into his arms, she always bumps into his body like a child does–not like a woman.

Yolly Wang @ 81, I have to disagree about KRW and interactions with he actresses. If the actress playing Sharon was the lead in this drama, I know without a doubt that the chemistry would be off the charts.

DeeAn @ 85, THANK YOU! I agree that the plot is getting worst and there is not chemistry between the leads. In ep 18 I kept thinking WTH? You want to get married and leave your husband for a stupid job, a job that lets you travel–your husband is filthy rich and can fly you anywhere in the world? HR is stupid.

  37. 87
    Snow Says:

Yian @ 77, I agree with you about the actresses playing Sharon and Baek Hee. However, I think all the characters have this theatrical acting that works well together except SSK (HR). Her acting is pouty and clumsy to me, instead of the allure of a grown woman. If the actress playing Sharon was HR, I have a feeling we would have a whole different drama on our hands. I also think there would be more chemistry between the leads. After their first kiss, it’s like someone told KRW not to kiss SSK as a real couple would kiss. He seems like he’s constantly holding himself back–so different from the actor in Doctors.

  38. 88
    nehj Says:

I don’t like this drama i find it boring..

  39. 89
    tigerb Says:

with all the negative stuff i read about ssk, so what is the reason that the production company hired her in this role. they could not get someone else? are s.k. viewers unhappy with her acting as the international viewers.

  40. 90
    Lclarakl Says:

Tigerb @ 89, I don’t know how fans feel about SSK’s acting, but if they are real fans they will be loyal to the end. I participate on another thread that discusses this drama and there is one rabid fan of SSK that takes any slight constructive criticism about this drama as a personal attack…rabid.

However, I will say for me, the actors chemistry is not there–they don’t match; especially there acting style. KRW is more grown up and mature in his acting, SSK acts more like a naive teenager to me. They are supposed to be two people close to the same age, but they seem 20 years apart. He had much better chemistry with PSH in Doctors–their acting even match. In real life, both PSH and SSK are the same number of years younger than KRW, and yet only one of them could match his acting level. I believe that KRW is holding back to match SSK. I think at first he was acting to bring her up to his level, and when that didn’t work, he dropped down to hers. If you don’t believe, watch the first few episodes and notice how his acting changes after the “somewhat” passionate kiss that she really didn’t keep up with. After that kiss, seems like more “walls” came up between them. They are acting romantic, but it’s only surface level.

The drama isn’t really making a lot of sense to me at this point and moving very slow. Currently, at ep 18, there is only 2 pages of comments here discussing this drama; compare that to Doctors who had 10 pages of comments by ep 18.

I know some don’t look at ratings and they dismiss the opinion of “International” fans which is the biggest payday for these dramas, even the Korean ratings for this drama doesn’t come close to the ratings for Doctors–there has to be something that the Korean viewers are not liking about this drama; plot and lead chemistry would be my picks.

  41. 91
    Simon K Says:

tigerb @89, let’s be fair, the rating of “Black Knight” is not a flop. If you pull out the current dramas from this web site, not counting Sat and Sun family dramas, almost none of the dramas get to 10 point rating, “Black Knight” rating is average, not bad.
I think enough viewers in Korea don’t mind SSK acting, she lead in many dramas and most of them got decent, if not good rating. Otherwise, she won’t have a job. No TV station will use actress that nobody watch.
To me, Black Knight is going downhill after about 14 episodes. It was mainly the writer and director’s fault, the story is losing steam and getting weird. It is still above average drama in my opinion, the big surprise is Sharon. She is over the top crazy yet I can’t hate her, especially in modern day(Joseon Sharon was just mean). I am still looking forward to the final conclusion in ep. 19-20.

  42. 92
    Sirena Says:

I hounastly don’t know why people criticize shin se kyung. She has done great in this drama. The chemistry between the 2 lead is out of the world. They act very naturally together and it looks so real. It’s one of the best kdramas I watched. Certainly different than other dramas. And I don’t understand why people criticize shin other dramas too. Since she started, she was acting complex role either in historical or modern dramas. Her role as me do in when a man falls in love was great. She was able to portray the character of a girl who really wants be be well of and get money to help her family, yet she was not ready to marry a rich guy just to do that. Everybody hated the character and hence hated the actress. Same with fashion king she was great in playing the role of a young woman who lived a miserable life after losing her family, but was detriment to succeed, yet she sacrificed everything for the man she loved- her scholarship, life in the US, job offers etc… just to stand with her guy yet her performance was overlooked due to the bad ending that the writer choose. She is amazing and versatile actress who play really complecated role unlike many actress her age who play kids at school roles.

  43. 93
    Sara Says:

It was the production team decision to add another extra 4 episodes to the drama. Hence, they are trying to create more events to lengthen the drama. It’s not the actress or the actor fault for that. The drama was originally meant to be 16 episodes. Adding extra 4 meant adding almost 1/4 extra events and acting to the drama. I think if they stayed with the original script, the story would have been more consistent. Adding these 4 episode created unnecessary additions to the drama and we cannot blame the actress or the actor for that. Both leads are doing really good in this drama taking into consideration that they had to do a lot more extra work for the added episodes. Also, the chemistry is really good between them.

  44. 94
    Neno Says:

I don’t understand this hate that some have for shin se kyung. She is really a good actress. She is great in historical dramas and played her roles exceptionally well. Her modern dramas are not the usual school love dramas. She played complicated role in both fashion king and when a man falls in love. Really, both chrecters are very complicated and she was a perfect fit for them. If you don’t like a drama ending or character that does not mean you need to hate the actress. In the bride of the water god, she played the role of struggling physiology doctor really well, I did not like that drama because of the guy who played the lead actor. He was not a good fit for the role and was just too young. And the story itself was not very consist. I have studied literture, theater, creative writing for many years. I see that shin get these complicated roles that not anyone one wants to play. But she plays them really good. Black night, is an amazing story, and both leads have an amazing chemistry that you can see in their wedding episode. But, I wish the writer was better and more consistent to the story. Actually, the writing in the late stages what spoiled this drama not the actor or actress.

  45. 95
    Sweetpea Says:

SSK is a mix bag when it comes to her acting for me. Hated her in When A Man Loves–emotionally dead and one dimensional, her make out scene in the closet was horrific.. I didn’t see much improvement in some of her other dramas. I will say that I thought she was great is Six Flying Dragons–a role that required her to be serious which I think suits her better. I thought she was decent in Bride of the Water God–sadly I think we still have the character from BOTWG in this drama. Would be nice if she could switch it up and let herself relax.

Neno @ 94-I have to disagree concerning SSK’s acting. I guess it’s all in how people are connecting to the characters. I was fine with her acting and the lead male in Bride of the Water God…I thought he suited her acting style just fine. I read a post earlier and I think they hit it on the head with SSK and her acting; there is a depth that is missing from her acting. Most of the time she seems to be acting her scenes alone and not with the person in front of her. Yes she’s saying her lines, she’s exhibiting some facial expressions, but for me something is missing.

I, like others, don’t see the chemistry in Black Knight. That is one couple that has no passion. They had one kiss that was very awkward to watch….glad no repeat. However, these actors are going through the motions, but there is a distance between them.

  46. 96
    Neno Says:

Sweetpea @ 95 everyone is definitely entitled to their opinion. For instance I really don’t like PSH who acted with KRW in doctors. Her acting in he is beautiful, heartstrings, the heirs were terrible to me. I only watched he is beautiful to the end because I liked the 3 guys in the drama but skipt almost all her seens. Though, I don’t like her acting, I would say she improved in doctors. It seam people don’t allow their opinion to change about SSK. They don’t have to like her but some attack her really horribley just for no reason without allowing their opinion to change if they saw her improved. To me, she got some difficult roles. Most required her to act pasivally (I mean to not be really outgoing, crazy, screams when she wants etc..). Such passive acting is more difficult than happy or outgoing chrecters. In when I man falls in love, she was criticized for the kissing scene. But, I thought that the director meant it to be uncountable like that. How a girl suppose to act when she is staying with her bf/f and the guy she thinks she likes starts kissing her in bf house. It was the decision of the director to go that far about it and show it in this uncomfortable manners or s/he would have asked for it to be reapated untell they got the result the wanted. In black knight, I saw an expansional chemistry between SSK and KRW. Even on YouTube they are praised for their chemistry. In all the clips I watched, everyone commenting about their great chemistry. Please feel free to check it yourself. In all clips I watched and read comments for, I read only 2-3 negative comments about her acting from people who don’t like her from other dramas, while everyone else saying how great they are together. But in this tread she is really getting some bashing which I see as not fair for her as she have done many chrechter really well.

  47. 97
    Sweetpea Says:

Neno @ 96, I agree that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You are also right, depending on the person, we may see different things we like in an acting style. For me PSH fist came on my radar in Heartstrings (You’ve Fallen for Me); however, I can’t really claim to be a fan because I have only seen her in 5 dramas–I have not watched Heirs. I liked her natural looks and the fact that she could sing. Then I stumbled across Kimchee Radish Cubes….love her pose as a young actress holding her own against a list of seasoned actors. In Doctors, I see real maturity in her acting, not the (finally) adult kissing scenes, but in her interactions with a male lead and portrayal of her character…the action. I want to see more of this mature actress.

Sorry, but in When a Man Loves, she was as stiff as they come. Love scene was bad, but every scene she was stiff, ‘clumsy’ looking (to borrow a phrase).

Thought she did great in Six Flying Dragons because it didn’t require much of her emotionally. Her When A Man Loves acting, fit well in that drama.

In regards to KRW and SSK…..no chemistry for me. They are trying to create it now. When they used to hug, she wouldn’t allow her face to touch his. He kisses her, I’m sure they will have a better kiss in the last 2 episodes, it’s not stiff as board, but they are children pecks; quick, no linger, no emotions, just an action to check off the list of things to do in a scene.

I’m not saying she’s a bad actress, but I would like her to embodied her character… to act like a character who has lost her parents, found the love of her life, unsure of Sharon….she’s missing the subtle emotions that help deliver a scene. If you want to see subtle emotions–look at Sharon, Baek Hee actresses.

For me, I just think this drama is missing something in the writing, plot, directing and acting.

Sweerpea @ 97, yes People are different with different taste. While you don’t see chemistry in black night. I saw really good chemistry. The innocenence of their tuches and kisses looks so adorable and natural to me. Some like it some don’t. I personally like it a lot more that his paring with PSH in doctors. She just did not connect to him romantically at all. Though she did good in acting the struggling doctor. But no connection to KRW.
What I have a problem with is that people personalize their opinion of actor or actress based on personal things not their acting. I feel that SSK get the worst of that since she was 20 and started the relationship with the singer who committed suicide recently. People had so much hate for her because of that relationship. Since then, every project she made get attack based on personal issues not her acting itself. Some went so far as to say recently after the singer suicide that if she stayed with him, he would have not killed himself!
In when a man falls in love, the character of me do was different from female lead character in kdrama. They r usually portrayed as cute, loving, caring, money haters. Me do was not that. She loved money and when the guy asked her to marry for his money. She thought she could do it, but liked another guy she met and the conflict in her character started. I think any actress will have great difficulty making this role. Unfortunately, people hated me do and hated SSK because of that. I think this reflected on SSK acting because the drama was being broadcasted while it’s being made as with almost all Kdrama. I think the writer failed to show me do character while showing so much of ha te. We sympathized with him greatly, and forgot to put ourselves in me do place. A girl at 17 who had to see her family humiliated, offer herself as a payment to get her family of dept. I think this had a huge impact on her character. But people wanted her to love the guy. Me do was called really bad names everywhere on the internet and many said they hated the actress because of her role as me do. I think this reflected negatively on SSK acting at that time. I personally think she did the best she could for the character and don’t see any other actress would have made better given the character in question and how judgmental people who watch the drama were.
In fashion king, I think she did really good. But her performance was out looked due to the bad end of the drama. In BOTWG, people accused SSK of trying to take the lead guy from his GF who acted with him in different drama. When they kissed in the drama people went crazy accusing her of trying to separate the guy from his GF, while she was just doing her job acting the drama.
I appreciate that ur opinion s made based on your opinion of her acting and not like other people who have the hate for personal reasons.

i did not expect that my comment in #89 would elicit so many responses, pros and cons of ssk’s acting and comparing psh’s acting relative to their lead roles with krw, the series itself, etc. etc. i find it interesting and i am learning from the posts above how viewers evaluate the actors in their previous roles. i have not watched the many dramas mentioned because after reading synopses of those dramas, i thought there was nothing new to watch. and i found that most of the actors i liked in previous roles could not deliver the same quality of acting in their following roles, specially the young actors. it’s like they were hired because they can bring money to the production, but not that they can deliver or do justice to a role. in fairness to them though, there are factors contributing to their inability to shine: script writing, direction, etc. i am not a fan of ssk nor of psh. pardon me or hate me, but i think both ladies need more grinding in their acting ability.
