Jo Gook is an exceedingly smart government official. He passed the Higher Civil Service quickly, and basically is the perfect guy. But being a deputy mayor is not enough for him. He lives with the dream of becoming South Korea’s President. He should have easily gone straight to the top, but due to an unexpected incident, he gets dispatched as a deputy mayor for a provincial small town, Inju City, where Shin Mi Rae was working. Shin Mi Rae is a low-ranking secretary in Inju, but she works her way up in becoming the youngest City Mayor. As their paths met, they have to deal with each other’s personal and social differences. @2538 Norev27
thank you for your high praise! I’m very Honored. What a nice surprise having been away for a few days. If I have one wish it is to compile our city hall notes into a book and present it to the director-script writer team and invite them for a chat!

Wow! This thread is on fire! Thanks to our new CityHallers – Dree, via, solmaz, Norev27!
@ Dree
Can feel your excitement in your sharing. Certainly brings me down memory lane… When I first watched this wonderful drama, I remembered being completely blown away! I wanted to share and tell everyone about it. The most amazing thing is I still want to do so…
@ Norev27
First & foremost, a very warm welcome to Inju City! If you have enjoyed your visit so far (i.e. the recent posts), try exploring a little more of this lovely city (older posts especially those just after the drama ended last year). You’ll discover many more nuggets!!!
@ DBEST
I watched The Woman Who Still Wants To Marry and enjoyed it too – it was fun, lighthearted and heartwarming. I’ve never liked Kim Bum’s acting before but in this show, he did put up a decent performance & looked so cute together with his leading lady!

@DBEST. I saw that one when it was being aired! I enjoyed it immensely! It’s funny, a little crazy too when it comes to the intertwining of relationships, like the mother and young lover…son and older lover among the characters…but, it’s only fiction, right!

MY DEAR USA-MARY, AND CITYHALLER, I JUST WATCHING THE WOMAN WHO STILL WANTS TO MARY, AND THANK YOU, (MRC) ITS QUITE FUN HAHA …

Yay, CityHaller Ladies! As I mature, I’ve come to understand and enjoy the true meaning of romance, affection (different kinds and levels), and the deserved treatment that I as a woman continually embrace! I’m in love with the concept of love (somewhat like the character MR*)…it’s the foundation of my emotional make up, like the breath that I breathe. Two things I pray for…first, that I’ll not become desensitized to beautiful love scenes, e.g. MR and JG, and second, that I remain allergic to stupidity!
*I said somewhat like MR…horses will literally sprout wings right in front of me eyes and fly across the sky before I go in debt for a man! ….I’m not talking about computerized, digitized, graphically created ones either! Real horses!

@Norev27 and via…a warm City Hall welcome to you who are newcomers and/or all those whose names I’ve not seen before!

Thanks!
Glad to be here- drama-watching is no longer a lonely enjoyment =)
Didn’t notice JG is a clean-freak! More like control-freak. MR is simply to free-spirited and of cos lack consciousness of her surrounding.
At Ep9, JG seems to be a 2-timer, yet truly sincere with his feelings for her. It’s a mystery..There’s this gloomy, knitted brow sad look behind the arrogant smug face of his that sometimes just lit up for MR. Exclusive.
I’m super-tempted to fast fwd the series to see when’s their next heart-melt scene!

@ Norev27
We are glad to have you on board this CH train. It still keeps chugging away!
Re : Camping scene where JG wipes MR’s hands. I will always giggle when I come to that scene. Well, you know what MR was doing prior to that! Digging sanitary pits!! Of course, JG, the clean freak, has to wipe her hands!
And guys out there : this is the perfect excuse to touch a girl’s hands. Kekeke!!
July 8th, 2010 at 3:29 pm
As we mature, we get more desensitise by the woolly romantic scenes in movies. Yet, the scenes between JG and MR never fail to melt the ice in our hearts. They’re an amazing pair!
A classic move is when JG hastily cleans MR’s dirty hands with wet tissue (super prepared for camping trips!) at the campsite, as she was making a beeline for the noodles (he cooks!) with . She was stunned with appreciation- watch the confused glow she exudes. What a charmer!

@ Grace, how are you ??
July 8th, 2010 at 11:47 am
@ USA-Mary & Dree,
Lately, in the real life, the ” Real gentleman ” is hard to find,…
after watching CH and found a character like JG, wondering, whether there was such a perfect man for me out there ??? ^_^,
my expectation to a man, is higher now, hehehehehe.
Watch CH & Lovely sam soon gave me another opinion about “soulmate things”, if it’s time, no matter who you are, how old you are, your ” Man ” , the best soulmate will come.,…

@Dree. I have a comment that’s awaiting moderation again! The comment is re my perspective as a woman on the 2 types of gentlemen’s kind gestures. One from strangers, e.g. when they open the door for us to a common public area, like the workplace, store, etc. or graciously allow us to enter the elevator before them. The other from a boyfriend or spouse! When you see ‘hint, hint’ where I reference male viewers…its hinting to them (whoever they are) as men to recognize and be aware of what kind gestures women like and to practice it…e.g. using the very examples you gave on Jo Gook’s talk to Mi Rae on how to be treated as a woman!
July 8th, 2010 at 3:00 am
@DEBEST. Most definitely! I wouldn’t have it any other way…hahaha!

HI USA MARY, BUT WE ARE STILL THE CITY HALL AT HEART HAHA..
July 8th, 2010 at 12:09 am
@Dree. You’re so right! After thinking about it, I have 2 ways to look at the effect a gentleman has on us as women. One way is when it’s kind gestures from strangers…its amicable. While the other way is when its from Your Man…totally different feeling, though both feeds our femininity. I agree, we could get a little crazy with excitement when we receive treatment like that on a daily basis from that special one. It’s just plain sexy and alluring (male viewers…hint, hint-*smile*)! Well at least to me it is! Especially, when it’s part of that special one’s character and its not a pretense! I can bask in that taste of Heaven here on earth for a long time, and he would definite reap the rewards! *big smile*

@ 2520 & 2526 via
I don’t think anyone could come up with a drama of this quality in the near future. A lot of currently airing ones and even those with “higher” ratings that I’ve watched, the ending has always fallen flat. But for City Hall, as in the scene you have described, I stopped breathing. And then the writer, gave us the telephone exchange 8 yrs ago and then the wedding photo shoot and then…..well, you know the story. And I turned blue. No ending in the history of my drama watching has this kind of ending. Absolutely brilliant!
July 7th, 2010 at 5:33 pm
@ Dree
Thanks for sharing your experience. It feels like I watched this drama yesterday. The emotions are as raw as when I watched it last year. Keke! Isn’t that strange?

I love the scene when they were dancing at tle last episode, they both so sexy and really show they feeling for each other, and the song really makes me chill and makes me want to cry, its a very romantic scene.. I wish someone could do something like that to me.. LOL
