Michael King is a top investment executive who has a secret double life as one of the world’s top assassins. In his other life, he is known as Choi Kang Ta, or codenamed as “Peter Pan.” His parents were killed when he was only a child. Because of this, he is determined to systematically destroy the ones that killed his parents. His parents’ murderers are now the top CEOs of several companies in South Korea. King, along with his friends Vivian Castle, Professor, Dennis, and Johnny, form a secret team that seeks to reveal to the world the horrible deeds done by these CEOs. But along the way, King falls in love with a reporter named Jin Bo Bae. His love for the reporter threatens to tear the team apart because Vivian also harbors a deep love for King and an increasing hatred for Jin Bo Bae.
This drama succeeds and fails in several different ways. I’ll concentrate first on where the drama succeeds. First off, the whole idea of the drama was very cool. It felt a lot like a superhero movie or a James Bond movie which I thought was quite a refreshing change from the usual dramas that I watch. The action scenes are decent, and they picked a guy who definitely fits the part. The series also captures all of the emotions necessary for an engaging series. There’s humor, there’s action, there’s melancholy, this series had it all. Another thing I really liked was that the drama was more fast-paced. There weren’t any “wasted” moments. You’re not going to be getting scene after scene of filler emotional stuff. It’s great when I know that a drama isn’t going to waste my time. One last thing. The actress who played Vivian Castle (Han Go Eun) was HOT AS HELL. Seriously why had I never seen her before. DAMN.
Now let’s talk about where the drama fell short. The main love story between Michael King and Jin Bo Bae wasn’t all that interesting. It might have to do with the fact that Bo Bae seemed incredibly stupid in this movie. She endangers everyone, asks stupid questions, and basically is like the ditzy blonde girl that is super annoying. She also didn’t look very good in this series, and was severely overshadowed in the beauty department by Vivian Castle. Another reason is that some of the supporting characters were terrible. The main love rival, Hwang Woo Hyun, absolutely didn’t stand a chance against Michael King when it came to wooing Jin Bo Bae. The director made him super creepy and also seemingly mentally unstable (he stalks Bo Bae and also kills a horse with a gun after he loses a race against Michael King). Also I had some problem with the plotholes in the story, which you guys will discover when you watch it. Basically these plotholes say, “the detectives in this movie suck at their job. Even I could do better.”
Michael King is played by Song Il Gook. He is a batman figure. Mysterious, charming, handsome, but also a badass fighter. Whoever casted him did a good job because he really fit the role well. Song Il Gook is very lean and muscular. One thing I would change is the hair. His hair in some parts of the movie reminded me of a bird or something because he ties it up in a sort-of man bun. Also this guy is super weird in some ways. Here is a super hot girl who wants you, and you go for the uglier, dumber one. Just goes to show that men always want what they don’t have.
Jin Bo Bae is played by Han Chae Young. I’ve never liked Han Chae Young, but I especially disliked her in this series. For one thing she could have used a little bit more makeup as she looks incredibly plain against the stunning Han Go Eun (portraying Vivian Castle). Another is that the director routinely has her “talking to herself,” which I felt was pretty odd. Show don’t tell is usually the best plan for storytelling, and I felt the character of Jin Bo Bae sometimes insulted my intelligence. She also routinely asks stupid questions as a reporter. For example, she basically asks a company president, “Hey are you guys corrupt?” If they were, why the heck would they answer that question truthfully? Come on now.
Vivian Castle is played by Han Go Eun. She’s my favorite character in the whole series, but I might be biased because she’s probably one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever laid eyes on. Seriously. Just watch her sequence where she shows off her bare back and tattoo and you’ll see why. Vivian also has a much deeper character arc than Jin Bo Bae, which I found weird. We are able to really feel and see Vivian’s emotions. Her love for Michael. Her regret at her decision (you’ll find out, it’s pretty major). She’s probably even more developed upon than Jin Bo Bae despite only being a secondary character. Loved her. Hated the fact though that she’s the love rival.
Hwang Woo Hyun is played by Kim Min Jong. I hated this guy. He was a great antagonist, but he was also quite ridiculous in some senses. He did not pose a threat at all to Michael King when it came to wooing Jin Bo Bae. He stalks Jin Bo Bae at night and also lies to hide up his own corruption. He is a CIS agent (Central Intelligence Service), and he is probably one of the most corrupt CIS agents in the organization. I didn’t really like how they portrayed the CIS as such corrupt bunch of guys. Instead perhaps they could have made him into just a normal CIS agent trying to find the vigilante superhero. However, they actually made him into an evil character, which I thought was pretty unnecessary.
There are many more characters, but they don’t really play into the main love triangles of the movie. I did like Jo Jin Woong as Jang Ho, the bumbling son of one of the CEOs in the movie. He’s hilarious in his role as Jang Ho. Also Yoo In Young as Jang Mi was not a bad character either. She’s sexy in her own way as well. As for the rest of the characters, well, you’ll see about them when you watch the series, there’s just too many to explain in here.
The series has its good and bad parts, but overall, its a good series to watch. It is a bit long, at over 20 episodes, but it’s worth it.

This was his 2nd movie where he portrayed the role of a Player. Not all his fans appreciate him being a comic…According to majority of them, Song should have done a drama in the big screen, in that way, audience will most likely love him even more and his facial expression in sad scenes can guarantee success…
