Actor Yang Dong-geun
is back with a new drama for his fans. / Yonhap

Korea Times Intern
Starring in a new TV drama called “I am Sam,” Yang Dong-geun, 28, faces a new challenge: How to successfully pull off a part that he himself calls “difficult and awkward.”
The actor returns to television after a hiatus that included a stint directing a rap musical titled “Offending the Audience.”
In the new drama, which premieres Aug. 6, airing Monday and Tuesday nights on KBS 2TV, Yang plays an incompetent high school teacher who becomes the resident tutor for the only daughter of a gangster leader.
The drama also focuses on the problems that high school students face. Yang Dong-guen’s role in this drama is that of the timid and indolent Korean literature teacher, Jang I-san.
This is an opportunity for the actor-musician to shed his usual image and show off his comic talents, according to Yonhap News. Up to now, the actor musician has been in mostly serious roles that displayed his subtle but powerful charisma.
At a press conference held at the Imperial Palace Hotel Monday, the veteran actor reflected that “unlike my other roles, the character requires me to be bumbling and chaotic at times. So this role was strenuous and awkward.
To date, I have rarely talked while filming because I need to concentrate, but this time I try to cheer up the atmosphere. I haven’t prepared for this role in any special fashion but I am striving to do my best.”
Another change for Yang Dong-geun is that he is now among the most experienced actors’ on the set, with the exception of actor Park Jun-gyu. The other people in the love triangle, Son Tae-young and Park Min-young along with Ryan of the pop group Paran, and Choi Seung Hyun or T.O.P of the group Big Bang are new to acting. He said that working with new people puts him in a new frame of mind. “I don’t know if it’s because I turned 29 but I’ve been working with people of my age or older and now almost everyone is younger. It’s a new experience.”

The original of ‘I am Sam’ is a comic book (Korean- Man Wha, Japanese- Manga.)
The original story is for adult, and yet ‘I am Sam’ doesn’t have the sex, drugs, and extreme graphic violence, and it takes only the funny and good story from the original.
Anyway, You know, Korean soap operas don’t contain sex, drugs, and extreme graphic violence.
Title
Japanese– Kyōkasho ni Nai! 教科書にないッ!
English — Not in the Textbook! (Also as known ‘Very Private Lesson’)
Korean — Gyo-goa-seo-en Up-Sseo! 교과서엔 없어!
Original story: Kazuto, Okada (岡田和人)
Genres: Comedy, Romance

Plot Summary:

He has Aya, a beautiful student who has fallen in love with him. He has Aya’s father, a wealthy man who wants so much for his little girl to be happy that he has sent her to live with Oraku.
Oraku is a very lucky man. Of course Aya loves nothing more than to come on to Oraku by lounging around his apartment half naked. Unfortunately for Oraku, Aya’s father happens to be wealthy because he is a major crime boss, and he will have Oraku slowly murdered if Aya doesn’t remain absolutely pure.
Now Oraku must not only restrain himself, but also protect Aya from the hordes of men and woman at school …

Oh! I forgot to mention it that [Sam] of ‘I am Sam.’
Sam is a slang for a teacher in South Korea.
A Teacher is Seon-Sang-Nim, but students make it short.
If you try to say very fast “Seon-Sang-Nim,” it’ll sounds like Sam.
Believe it or not! ^^**

I was utterly shocked when the drama I was soo looking forward to (it was agonising to wait a whole wek) was replaced with some comedy show.
I almost complained to KBS World. Luckily I checked their online schedule. Turns out the hiatus was only for this week. Next week it is as normal. I think there’s some festivities going on in Korea.
The character Jang yi San is so darn funny! The way he bumbled around and mumbles. His reaction when he’s frustrated… I end up imitating him sometimes. Let’s not talk about Musin’s broody character, which comes off as sexy! Even Ryan from Paran looks better here than in ‘Hello My Lady’.

Can I add to the growing number of people who still want this well-loved show to air back? I have been waiting but still in vain. It’s the same thing here in the Philippines.(Also,I want to see TOP and Ryan!!)
Please please…what’s the reason why it’s not being aired anymore?
