Synopsis
The story of Hwang Jin Yi, the famous 16th century Gisaeng. This drama is about a young girl who is very talented in dancing. She gets chosen to be a gisaeng. Her mother who is a blind talented musician helps out Hwang Jin Yi. And there is love between Hwang Jin Yi and a wealthy student who is very intelligent. And so the story goes as a competition… and more continued….

I must watch this. I’m still looking for a site where can i download all the episodes. Can anybody recommend me a site?
I keep looking for a site of this but i haven’t found any. This is my most wanted drama to watch. I’m dying to see Ha Ji-won and Jang Geun-suk. They are my favorite.

I just finished watching this one. Disappointing.
The writer(s) ought not to pander to modern ideologies, rather be bold and draw from traditional korean attitudes of the time. And I don’t know about dance but the music was woeful. There was a segment where the flute played in a different key to the main instrument. My first thought was; hello a modal approach. But alas no, just messed up. Perhaps the producer is tone-deaf and had given the task of musical director to his equally tone-deaf 6 year old.

What is about historic dramas that has all the older men look alike ( they are pretty much ugly) and they also have this funny laugh. Did they also laugh at everything ? Like that? Well, it is pretty annoying! And those hats make them look silly. So all the historic dramas are pretty much alike

I am enjoying this drama series because I amblearning so much about the historical background and customs of the giaseong. They had a hard life just the the Geishas in Japan. Too bad the noble people we so nasty to the lower class such as the scene where Kim Eun Ho’s mother went to see the head mistress and threw boiling water. How was that allowed. Pretty harsh in those days. How is it even allied now a days where Koresn women slap other ones because they have been wronged and get away with it. That is pretty neurotic, I say! Hope it just happens in Korean dramas not in real life.

haven’t finished watching the whole series, but just want to say that i find the 18 or 19 year old jgs portrayal of a 19 yr old forlorn lover who died of a broken heart was very good. in love rain, he acted similarly in the first 4 episodes as a college student finding and losing his first love. i’ll finish watching this series, although sad 1-9 episodes, want to find out how jin yi revenged to the cruel people in her life. if hwang jin yi was a real courtesan, i wonder how much truth is depicted in this drama.

what a sad life for a courtesan to be so defined by her station, could not go up in status except to be a nobleman’s concubine! jin yi’s life was depicted as a plight until towards the end of the drama when she realized that as an artist she could be happy not only to please herself but also the ordinary people she chose to be around. but a happy face can also be a facade of how she really felt inside. a whole lot i think was put into this production, i wonder how the series fared when broadcast initially. it was a good watch for me to learn other cultures. to me it’s an 8/10!
