    I checked it out bcos of Yoon Je Moon (John Mayer) and bcos it’s on jTBC. It looks like a good show so far. It makes me nervous –they r combatting a virus as deadly as ebola. I don’t suggest watching while you eat!

    The show is v good when YoonJM is doing his medical detective work to deduce what happened, n to track down the virus/anti-body carrier. The scientists do the real work, the suits in management stand in the way, in the name of caution.
    Liking it!

    No big names. No idols. No pretty faces. Certainly no abs. Just a compelling story. Exactly the way I like it. And no fan girls on the thread.

    Same story line as Virus with a few variations. I hope the writer picks up the pace soon. Waiting to see why 20 eps r needed to tell this story. At least there has been no overacting, so far.

    KDaddict Says:

    Ah, there is romance after all! Not the kind we normally see on KD–no chaebol prince, no Candy girl, just 2 professionals dedicated to their jobs w respect n appreciation for each other–the best kind of romance, n so dignified! LOVE it!
    The damned management ppl, the jealous scientists, so real, so reflective of the academic work place.
    Bravo for the script n the writers!

    KDaddict Says:

    Oh, their confession of love to each other in the 1st four mins. of ep 8 is really different fr every other love confession I’ve seen in KDs. Fab. These two professionals r a perfect match for each other.
    The Manager of the Center represents sb of integrity n fairness. her husband is a petty, useless jerk. Their superior is the kind of leader who only cares abt what looks good, not what IS good, the mark of a politician.
    The 2 scientists, Choi, who found the antibody really cares abt science n finding the cure for the disease; the other one, Yoon who returns fr the N Pole, cares more abt personal glory, to whom science is a means to an end.
    I love that in this little world, we get the basic types that we see in most large institutions.
    The newfound anitbody has serious side-effects: it turns ppl into sociopaths! On to the next battle.

    It has been a good ride from ep1-8, it is way better than a lot of popular dramas out there. Even the romance between the two leads can touch me more than those in romance genre.

    Kurayuzaki666 Says:

    Oh my I HATE the main lead here. he’s the villain in King2hearts right? He’s a damn bad actor (acting wise) for portraying a villain role in that drama!

  16. 16
    Jyenie Says:

    @Kurayuzaki666, this is another good example of a good script and casting choice can make an actor, it will change your perception about him.

    Ep 9:
    The virus has undergone mutation. The new strain has the effect of messing w one’s nervous system. Prof Yoon has to race time to find a new vaccine. Their Director is only interested in politics, instead of really stopping the disease fr spreading. But in the midst of all this emergency, Prof Choi fr the N Pole is committing plagiarism with the help of his hoobae, husband of the Office Manager, a petty guy w an agenda.
    I want to see Kang Team Jang being restored to his original post. I want to see the OF divorce her no good husband, n see his lousy scheme exposed. I want to see Prof Yoon succeed n get the laurels he deserves. N of course see the love birds marry. A lot of grounds to cover in 3 eps!

    Jyenie Says:

    It is such a good drama but they have to cut it down due to low rating, ouch to everyone working on this drama.

    No wonder they always play safe by producing crappy, unconvincing, draggy, unoriginal dramas with the same old cliches to suit the taste of the not so versatile and sophisticated market.

  19. 19
    KDaddict Says:

    This show’s rating is low becos it has no big names, no big pretty stars, no idols, and therefore no built-in fan base. It also has no piggyback rides, no chaebol princes, no birth secrets, no cappuccino or cola kiss, no breathing-taking scenery or cinematography. It is just a solid story, well told, well acted. That does not suit popular taste. But it is a quality show. I’m glad I get to enjoy it for 12 wondrous episodes! I’m grateful for the break fr the mundane!

  20. 20
    Jyenie Says:

    The list of the cliches missing in this drama can go on and on.

    No amnesia, no dementia, no bitchy mother in law, no roof top room, no being hit by truck/car which is able to flash and horn 1 km away but cannot brake in time( this is classic ), no triangle or square love, no persistent second female lead, no loan shark, no…..

  21. 21
    KDaddict Says:

    @Jyenie-16,
    A lot of ppl thought that he shone in K2H playing the villain, as the psychotic megalomanic sociopath. He brought John Mayer to life! Let me ask you this: How often do we remember the names of villains in KDs a year down the road? But who can forget John Mayer? Also, if his acting in K2H wasn’t impressive, who would give him a starring role in his own drama?
    I’m not too upset abt the series being 12 eps. I think it could have been good at 16 eps, but 12 is fine. That should help them keep the intensity and the quality.
    Are you relatively new to this site? I didn’t see you b4. Nice to meet you.

    Jyenie Says:

    Hi KDaddict,

    Nice to meet you too. Should I be glad that you have noticed me? That is the question. Ha. Well I have been a silent reader of this site for roughly 4-5 years, only recently I started to make comments. I remember TWTWB got my first comment, because it was too boring for me, I had to pen my frustration down (sorry to TWTWB fans), then followed by Nine which managed to catch me in surprise and so on.

    The length of this drama is not my concern if they planned it this way from the beginning. I hope they won’t shy away from producing various types of dramas in future, otherwise the tide might turn to other direction one day.

    Regarding to your comment on my post 16, I think you misunderstood what I wrote, it was just a reaction to Kurayusaki666@15, I never said or implied that Yoon Je Moon(J.Mayer)’s acting was not good in K2H. I was quite sceptical of this drama(TEOTW) at first because I have never really liked him due to his antagonist roles in many dramas, however I am pleased to find him so adorable and likeable in this drama, my perception of him has totally changed, that’s why I said a good script and casting choice can make an actor IMO.

    KDaddict Says:

    @Jyenie,
    I understood your comment. I was just agreeing with you, n elaborating on a discussion of Yoon Je Moon. ;)
    Most viewers hate the bad guys, n therefore the actors who play them. Again this is a general discussion, not directed at you or sth you said. ;)
    1. It helps to differentiate the actor from his role, if we’ve previously seen him play a good guy, e.g. the bad guy in Kang Chi. He was recently a really really sweet, gentle, timid fellow in Rascal Sons. So I went, Wow, is that even the same actor?! Great job!
    2. Some actors/actresses play the bad guy so well you want to tear their face off, while some bad guys r made boring w poor acting. e.g. the bad guy in JOJ. He only has 1 or 2 expressions of evil. He bores me to tears. He was in Princess Man too, n was similarly bad (in both sense of the word–bad guy n bad acting) there!
    I salute Yoon Ye Moon for making J Mayer mighty unforgettable, n for giving Kang Team Jang so much quiet dignity n commitment–w so few words! Bravo!

    KDaddict Says:

    @Jyenie-22,

    Course I noticed you. Most comments are generally short and simple gushes of fan love, so yours stand out.

    Hey, you make it sound like my article has been picked by an editor, tks anyway:)

    I have enjoyed reading all your comments, looking forward to seeing you more. Cheers.
