Synopsis
A family drama tell the story of three different characteristics of sons and deals with marriage and divorce in the means of trying to find the justice of love.
First Son, Yoo Hyun ki (Lee Sung Jae), a widower and single dad with a daughter. He hasn’t opened up his heart in a long time, but then Sung In Ok (Myung Se Bin) enters his life, a single mom as well, and he falls in love.
Second Son, Yoo Min ki (Ryu Su Young) is a martial arts fantasy novelist who has been in love with the same woman, Lee Shin Young (Han Hye Rin) for ten years. Only she’s now engaged to his best friend.
Third Son, Yoo Seung ki (Seo In Guk), who’s the biggest troublemaker of them all. He marries his wife, Mi rim (Yoon Se in) but divorce because he’s a playboy. They married because he gets her pregnant and has no choice in the matter. His new girl friend will be played by Shin Da Eun (Source: Dramabeans)

It’s a lovely 1st ep. The relationships n their conflicts r already clearly established.
I love the chars n the actors. So many familiar faces.
2nd son-Ryu So Young should get a new hair style. The woman he loves is played by Han Hye Rin fr New Tales of Gisaeng. She was already beautiful in it. But this time she looks so much like Song Hye Gyo. She must have gone to the same plastic surgeon. SIG is so pretty in profile. He is funny as a player who can’t quit chasing skirts, just like his father. Ha.
I like family dramas. So happy to have this one to watch over the weekends.

KDaddict: Glad to see you here! I agree with you for the first episode of RS. I never refuse a well done family drama that can lift your spirit. I’m a bit in overdose with melo/revenge dramas these days: I watch 5Fingers and MayQueen for the boys but those stories always take the same road. FF button, here I come.
To go back on topic, I hope Rascal Sons will stay light. Bad emotions don’t have to be thrown at my face…
On a shallow note, I love the new haircut of Ryu Soo-young: He looks younger this way.

Hi there. I OD’d on rom-com on BIG, AGD n I do I do. But I never do well on melodramas. I get so mad at the chars for their bad decisions that ruin their lives. I adore Song JK’s acting n MCW. Even so, NiceG doesn’t stir my emotions. I watch it, but feel no resonance. When I’m not a KDaddict, I’m a Sci-fi nut, so I like high functioning chars.
This series has a lot of good going. I love that Dad is incorrigible. A playboy friend told me: It’s not libido, but ego. Our lovely YoonJae (did u see 1997?) has turned into a philanderer. SIG is Fab. <3

I have a question: From the photo poster on top, the one who hold the string to SIG is not his wife, but the sister-in-law of the single mother who is the eldest brother’s love interest. Does that imply anything???

There r 3 sons; only 1 is a rascal.
He thinks w his anatomy n has the maturity of a 6 yr old.
The eldest is anything but. He is so buttoned down, so loyal to his dead wife, he is the opposite of a rascal.
The middle son is quite normal. He is in love w the girl whose life he and his bestf saved, while said friend became crippled in the process. Girl agrees to marry that friend out of guilt, n he has to stay mum. But friend also understands what’s going on, n seems to be pushing girl in his direction. I quite like the dynamics there.
Youngest son is the only rascal. To say that he has bird brains is an insult to the birds.
The poster is too small for me to make out who that 2nd woman is holding a string to 3rd son, played by SIG. He is fab BTW. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it does turn out to be SIL of Myung SB’s char. That SIL is spoilt, childish, selfish, a perfect match for SIG’s 3rd son. They’d deserve each other, n it’d be hilarious.
I love watching this. It makes the weekend perfect!

While I really like SIG’s performance (who doesn’t?), the first two episodes were boring to me. Though of course it probably would get better, plenty of time for a 50 episode drama to develop its plot. My Daughter Seo Yeong on the other hand, was really addicting to me from the first episode on, the couples were so cute together. Then again, it could get boring going forward, plenty of time for a 50 episode drama to fall. Who know?

I thought the eldest son’s story arc would be boring, but it amazingly turns out to be engaging n entertaining, thx to the antics of his love interest, played by Myung SB, tho there r times when she overacts. It is a pleasant surprise.
After 4 eps, I can see the coming connection between 3rd son n Myung’s SIL. 3rd son will sleep in his parents’ office bldg; SIL will go to see Myung, n they’ll make contact. It’ll be a bickering relationship, until he is tamed. That guy needs a shrew, which SIL is.

I love family drama!!!!!!!! I love this drama so far becuase I love Han Hye Rin and Ryu Sooyoung!!!!!!!!!!! Those are my favorites character in this drama!!!!! Love saturday and sunday dramas!!!!

Father Yoo is also a rascal – emailing another woman and then meeting her while his wife’s away.
I don’t think Yoo Min Ki is that normal since he sneaked in a kiss on the unconscious Lee Shin Young. Yuck!
(One thing has improved: Ryu Soo Young must have heard the complaints about his character’s hair and moved the bangs out of his face. Most of the time anyway.)
I like the boy actor who plays Da Bin. He’s cute and I want to pinch his cheeks. And the tantrum he threw – whoa! awesome tantrum.

When I wrote in #15 that 2nd son is quite normal, he had not yet stolen a kiss from the sleeping girl. I couldn’t have known he would be doing that in the following ep.
Ep 5 is mostly abt eldest son. He is such a decent fellow that you can’t help but wish him happiness. If it has to come in the form of an earnest, tactless, overacting n over-reacting widow ajumma, then so be it.
3rd son is an incorrigible. He totally deserves to be tortured by widow ajumma’s agassi.
