I dont know the leads. I only see that:
2 official posters give off a sleazy feel; Is it becos her breasts are very prominent in them, n they are resting on his chest?
2 other posters give off a cheesy feel; They look superficial and way deliberate.
I like neither sleazy nor cheesy, so the posters turn me off.
In the ent-ind, there r:
a. pretty girls, natural or plastic;
b. talented girls, who can act;
c. average girls, who can sort of act;
d. girls who can’t act but r in the business anyway;
e. girls with big bosoms, natural or plastic.
Category 1:
a + b = top actresses, more natural than plastic;
Category 2:
a + c = 2nd leads, more plastic than natural; But a few Luck Out to become leading ladies w top rated dramas. (PMY comes to mind).
Category 3:
d + e = actresses w more sex appeal than acting ability. They’ve a niche cos some ppl like that in an actress. (Park Yi Jin of My Princess, I love Lee Tae Ri comes to mind).

@KDaddict
So I think lead female of this drama should be in category 3. I saw her in terms of endearment for the first time then in I need romance 1 but she was just okay. Nothing special to show. It always seems to me that ones who try their best but can’t achieve what they want but do want to stay in the industry, have no way but to accept adult movies offers and become famous by selling sex.

@sara,
I can’t speak abt this actress as I haven’t seen her act. But when I see Park Yi Jin acting, it clearly shows that she can’t act to save her life, so it just begs the Qn: What did she have to do to get her parts?!
I didn’t mean to insult her, but I said on the I love Lee Tae Ri thread that her big boobs n bad acting made her look sexy in a porn star kind of way. It was just stating a matter of fact. But somebody got upset w me. So, there r ppl who like movie stars who look like that.
Actually, however terrible a movie star may be, there r some ppl among the world’s millions population who feel strongly abt them! Tho the majority see them for what they are.
Ent is a tough business that judges ppl, esp women, mainly on their appearance:
If an actress is flat-chested, she is not sexy, e.g. Ha Ji Won. I think she is plenty sexy, but so many ppl complain that she isn’t.
If an actress has big boobs, n she can act, she just looks cheap, e.g. Park Hae Mi.
If she has big boobs and can’t act, well, heaven save her from viewers’ despise!
If her big boobs r au naturale, she is not to blame. (But there r all kinds of creams out there for breast enlargement).
If they r products of plastic surgery, then it is clear what route she plans for herself!

anyway..intersting story.

@KDaddict
What about those who doesn’t have big boobs but can’t act either and still are active in the industry? e.g Kim Tae Hee.
HJW is perfect with a pretty sexy body and attractive face. She is not what Koreans consider sexy, like Yoona -super skinny- but she has Beyonce type body which is very sexy and beautiful. Now she has lost some weight but she was really really sexy in SEGA. Add great acting skills and an honest and humble personality to it. She is The Queen. If she is on the top of the mountain, most of them are just starting to climb. Someone like her never needs to sell sex.
I completely agree with you about PYJ. But it seems she is considered a real beauty in Korea.
August 5th, 2012 at 10:42 am
@sara,
One can only Look like HJW and be a big star IF one can ACT like HJW! Another one is Kim Sun Ah. She was plump for most of her career, up till she rewired her jaw a couple years ago. Both are goddesses in acting and in personality. The converse is:
One can only ACT like KTH and be a big star IF one Looks like KTH! In poll after poll, KTH comes out as the Most Beautiful Woman in Korea. So I’m sure that one only has to be mediocre in acting and still be a big star if one has her Looks. The male version is Song SH. The two of them are perfectly paired in My Princess: Perfect to look at, no surprise in acting.
Park YJ is considered a real beauty in Korea? If thats’s the case, I suspect the size of her boobs is not irrelevant to the consideration.

Main girl is not a porn star. Erotic movies are like rated “R” movies of USA. People here are making as if she appeared in rated X movies. This is not true.

@KDaddict
So it ‘s getting complicated. BEAUTY Vs. ACTING. Which one is more important in K-industry?
1.Considering the increasing rate of plastic surgery and rushing of non-talented idols to small and big screen BEAUTY/ or it’s better to say FAKE BEAUTY wins.
2.But why they are pairing young talented actors with older women? It seems they are in need of talented young actors but where are they? Here ACTING wins.
I once saw PYJ in a variety program and they kept praising her beauty.
August 5th, 2012 at 8:54 pm
@sara,
It’s a combination of Looks, Talent n Charisma that add up to watchability or success in the ent industry.
The 3 variables carry diff wts for diff viewers. Looks is the minimum requirement. Looks is the easiest to discern. It has the most fans. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. One person’s beauty may be another’s horror. One year’s beauty may not fit another decade’s criteria for it.
I have nothing against plastic surgery per se, just that plastic beauty looks, well, plastic, in the long run.
I think that ultimately, it is those who have a high degree of natural beauty, enhanced by surgery, Not created by surgery, and also have talent whose careers can Last in the industry. And it is those who have all three that can really make it big and can make it last.

@sara,
I never take seriously what they say abt their guests on variety shows. Sometimes it is said for laughs; More often for flattery as thanks for guest appearance.

@mememe Have to agree with you. She actually won Best Supporting Actress in the Blue Dragon Award Festival for that role in The Servant
August 6th, 2012 at 10:45 am
@mememe Error : She won the Popularity Award in that festival in 2010 for her role in The Servant and her latest movie, The Concubine was described as one of the best commercial films for 2012 to date. I haven’t seen the movies actually but the fact that she won an award must account to something, doesn’t it? Anyway, am going to keep an open mind as I am more interested in seeing the male lead, Kim Kang Woo since his last drama

i hope her acting will good in this drama …
August 7th, 2012 at 11:27 pm
I never watched her drama except The Road Home, but it’s obviously you must have good acting first than beauty. Gong Hyo Jin and Kim Myung Min is the good example for their good acting. Even Jang Geun Seuk’s pretty face can’t win with Kim Myung Min’s charisma in Beethoven Virus. As for Park Min Young, I liked her in SKKS,I’m Sam, & MOH, but not in CH, and I read there’re many critics about her acting in Dr.Jin, her case is the example how an actress or actor must always improved their acting, popularity is only for a short time if their not seriously to improved their ability. This post is not intend to bashing PMY, just set her as example and there’re are many actress with the same situation liked her. I do hopes she would become a good actress.

August 9th, 2012 at 11:32 pm
I just watched finish episode one. Its a bare body and sexyness. Its kind of funny in some ways and it kind of weird me to hear their accent being so weird. Haha. Will wait for it to go more episodes before deciding if it is good or bad. However, can give it a try as its kind of funny and having many sexy scenes.

KDaddict Says! What do you mean she rewired her jaw Kim Sun Ah was not overweight before the series Kim Sam Soon because of the series have her raise ten pounds before she was thin and when she was fat, yet after the drama Kim Sam Soon she had no problem participating dramas you always been in demand by tack because of her personality and because she is talented in the game and about Kim Tae think someone in the media is very like her, so he writes her Good reviews but my view she’s not pretty, she has a bad Face with a big mouth like a shark and a bad actress and by the way almost to most Korean women have flat-chested and wear bras padded and most Koreans they have Nose very wide and have a punctuation between the legs probably due to sitting on the floor infancy when the bones are soft and Korean men and women low probably Because excess estrogen in soy and tofu they eat and in addition to all the Korean men dressed as female and going with bags as female and they touch each other and the western man snub that another man touches him , of course if he’s not gay.
