Synopsis
The drama is based on famous folklore.
A nobleman named Kim Eun Oh (Lee Joon Ki) comes to town searching for his mother after hearing a rumor that she is staying at the village of Miryang. He has the special ability to see spirits, but pretends he doesn’t because he gets annoyed when spirits come up to him asking for a favor.
Arang (Shin Min Ah) has lost all her memories when she became a ghost and is unable to rest in peace until she finds out how she ended up dead. However, after appearing to three magistrates, none of them survive the fright of seeing her. When she finds out that Eun oh is able to see her, she begs for his help.
At first, Eun Oh rejects her request. However he changes his mind after seeing that Arang is somehow in possession of the hairpin that he gave his mother at their last meeting. He believes that if he helps her, Arang will regain her memories and give him information about his mother. He exasperatedly (then affectionately) nicknames her “Amnesia” and as the town’s newly installed magistrate, he teams up with her to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death, which may involve the mysterious nobleman Joo Wal (Yun Woo Jin) and have supernatural ramifications.
As Eun Oh and Arang gradually unravel the mystery behind her death, they find out the events that have been set in motion have been a trap of the Jade Emperor, in his attempt to capture a rogue Fairy of Heaven who feeds on human souls. The gods cannot touch her as long as she is in a human body. Arang and Eun Oh’s participation in the events is crucial because this Fairy also happens to be the sister of Moo Young, the Grim Reaper of Hades, who cannot forget the love he once bore for his sister and is unable to bring her to justice. It is later revealed that the Jade Emperor saved Eun Oh as a child from a deadly sickness, resulting in his ability to see spirits. He also set Arang free from the bonds of the Grim Reaper after her death, thereby making her a spirit who roams the earth. In this game of supernatural stakes, Arang and Eun Oh who fall in love gradually have to pay the price because Arang has only three full moons in which to solve the mystery of her death and defeat their enemy…(Source)

But, somebody tell me plis, is there kiss scene on eps 11 ?? AAaAaAaA!! Seem like what i predicted before! Passionate and hot kiss scene usually start in the middle of drama!

i forgot to mention that i was a little disappointed in the scene of Arang and the Shaman…i really thought that the shaman will recognize her when they meet…did they meet again in ep 10? still waiting for ep 10 with subs…
that magical fan seems really an important weapon coz they also established it in episode 1, when EO first saw Arang running.

We get some confirmation this ep. Yay. So… The demon-witch is Mu Young’s sister. She used to be a fairy in heaven. She’s keeping herself alive by absorbing virgin souls. She’s stealing wicked souls that are meant for hell and turning them into demons. The Kings need Arang’s help to uncover the truth because they can’t interfere and capture Mu Yeon themselves because she is living as a human.
See, I don’t get that. If they can’t interfere with human affairs and kill Mu Yeon, then what was the deal with that badook game they keep playing? I thought what happens is that whenever the Heavenly King wins, new life is born…. and when Hades win, people die. Aren’t they interfering in human affairs and taking human lives by doing that? How is that different from going down there themselves and killing Mu Yeon?

Yes ance they met again in ep10:)where Bang Wul seems recognized Arang’s voice and she said the voice is somehow familiar?but she doesn’t know where she heard it lol!she don’t even recognize Sato lol coz she was confused if she already saw sato before…I was thinking maybe she got an amnesia?or maybe she needs some memory plus vitamins.hahaha!

Yes Tonberry, its confirmed that Mu Yeon was a fairy in heaven…I remembered in ur previous comment guess that was in ep2 I think?you told me MY’s sister was a fairy:)where did you watch ep10?coz I was confused why some scenes in viki wasn’t subbed..
Guess the 2 kings are useless after all lol!they seem to have power but they can’t touch Mu yeon coz she possessed the human body(which is Sato’s mom)even Arang can’t do anything so they will just depend on Sato’s magical fan:)anyways i understand coz sato is the hero in this drama lol but it wud be nice if hades or jadey will go down on earth and show us their magnificent powers! Lol!

There seems to be a rule that if a human being does evil things (either thru her own choice or while under the control of an evil spirit), the 2 gods cannot reach down from heaven and smack them dead. They have to wait till (s)he dies, that soul is taken by the soul squad to hell, before sentencing it to one of the hells reserved for their kind of deeds. So as long as Mu Yeon is hiding in a human body, she is safe from the wrath of the gods.
Only a human can interfere with the doings of another human. So the gods need Satto to carry out some daring-do as only he can, to sabotage Mu Yeon’s evil scheme.
The badook game on the other hand is played to determine the broad developments in history: When Hades wins, he gets to decide where there be a famine, or war, so that a certain no. will die; When Jade wins, he gets reprieve for some of them, n gets new life to be born somewhere.

In this ep also Mu Young was thinking how a mere human being like Satto possessed those kind of powers,he was really surprised by the fan how did Satto get the fan…If Mu Young sister was once a fairy in heaven I wonder how she became that way?she must be the bad fairy in heaven…and I’m so excited to see how Mu Young gonna handle once he will know that it’s his sister is the one that they were looking…will he remain being loyal to jadey?or choose to defend his sister?and become the antagonist of this drama too?sounds so interesting coz he can be great as a villain better than Ju Wal lol!

@GKA I wasn’t sure when I heard the song whether it was sung by LJK but now that you have confirmed it, double wow. Great song and the vocals are sharp and clear. I like (♥♥,) And when Sato showed Arang that little piece of heaven..heehee..I thought I was watching a scene in Twilight when Edward revealed himself to Bella – it was soooo romantic.

@Chonaaaah Maybe the gods can’t physically kill someone specifically. They have to wait for the person’s time to come first before they can take their soul. When they play the badook game, they can only decide whether there will be a famine, flood etc and when it happens, the people whose time is up will die. There’s another theory beside the one we discussed regarding the fan. There’s a suggestion that EN also “died” during the period that he went missing. He was given training, the ability to see ghosts and the fan by the Jade Emperor and then sent back to earth to complete his mission ie to capture the demon. Possible, you think?

Yes Satto perhaps died when he was young and somehow he already met Arang in heaven lol thats why he said that Arang reminds him of his neighbor who also loves to put a flower behind her ear..or he was just hallucinating while fighting for his death when he was young?or cud also be that he showed that place filled with flowers coz hes starting to be close with Arang?coz only 2 full moons is left and somehow he want to have a wonderful memories with Arang like the saying goes ‘strike the iron while its hot’ lol or enjoy every moment with Arang while it lasts!
Yes it’s LJK’s voice I’m inlove lol I keep listening the 51 sec video of that scene where Satto reminiscing his childhood life:)

Perhaps in the next ep Satto will reveal his feelings in that piece of heaven..coz after knowing that Arang has only short time to stay on earth he was a bit troubled and made him restless lol and he was mad why Arang told him that late,coz if he only know it… perhaps he cud of treat Arang nicely lol so that’s why he came up with that idea about showing Arang that piece of heaven somehow he will start to treat nicely:)I want to see them kiss in that piece of heaven in ep11!lol

@GKA I like your idea that they have once met before, either in heaven or they were really neighbors when they were young. His idea of heaven is quite similar to that of Jadey’s garden. Perhaps he has been there before? LOL, then we’ll have a happy ending for sure – they both go to Heaven

haha I only added what u said about Satto died before but only I have my weird version lol!yes maybe they were neighbors that their fathers were friends?Satto said in the last part of ep10 that he never knew where’s that girl now maybe Arang’s family moved to the other place or Satto’s father moved to the other place and bring Satto with him?…in Satto’s part it looks like a deja vu seeing Arang with the flower in her ear…so maybe that girl he knew before must be that important in his childhood life coz if not?he wouldn’t brought up that stuff to Arang:)

i’ve watched ep 10 raw so i still can’t give my comment about the whole episode but i love this episode because of those romantic moments…
-Arang having her first date with JW…(but i would have prefer if EO was her first date)
-Satto’s own version of date with Arang…
-Arang remembering the time when EO was getting her measurements…
-I also noticed that EO only used Arang’s name twice (when Arang fell from the cliff and when EO was searching for Arang in the beach)
-loved Jade Emperor’s new hair and his childishness (though i can’t understand what he was saying to that heavenly maiden)
-i also love that surprise garden; EO knew that Arang loves flowers that’s also a reason why he took her there…
-liked the scene between DS and the shaman…(love is everywhere)
-its so romantic for me, when EO held his hand out for Arang to get on the horse and of course riding it together…

I didn’t know Eunoh almost died during that time when he went into the mountain with the master. Which episode was that mentioned in? I thought he only almost died when he was little and was sick. I have to revisit some of these episodes. I’m missing clues here. lol
I don’t know about the theory of Eunoh dying, then meeting the Jade Emperor in heaven, where he was gifted with special powers and sent back to earth to kill the demon-witch. It could be possible. But then why would Eunoh not remember anything regarding that encounter? Arang was able to retain her memory of her meeting with the Kings, so why would the they erase Eunoh’s memory if they wanted Eunoh to carry out this mission?
My guess is that it was the King of Heaven who actual came to earth himself to teach Eunoh. He is the master who taught Eunoh to fight and gave him the fan. Unless the drama introduces a new character at this stage, I don’t think it can be any one else. It’s not Mu Young, because he was surprised when he saw Eunoh’s fan. And it doesn’t seem to me like Hades would bother with humans if he wanted something done. The Jade Emperor is the only being who likes to make use of humans and get them to do things for him, so I think perhaps he is the person who taught Eunoh. Eunoh is too special not to be a part of the King’s grand plan. He can see ghosts, he has an enchanted fan, the demon-witch lives in his mother’s body… So, for sure the King is making use of him somehow.

I didn’t know LJK could sing so well. I saw a few of his MV and his voice was just so so to me. Maybe he has improved. I didn’t even recognize that it was him singing in this ep if you hadn’t pointed it out. His voice sounded really clear and beautiful. I thought it was a professional singer singing that song.

That’s right. How did he know that Heaven was a garden? Could be a wild guess and a coincident, or… could be his subconscious is remembering something from his past… or maybe from a feverish dream when he was sick. Perhaps his soul was brought to heaven and the Emperor “opened” something up inside of him that allows him to see supernatural beings. Because he wasn’t born with the gift, he acquired it after he was sick.
