One of the best crime story drama and especially, one of the most beautiful pairing in a KD – both SJS and LYH are so good to look at on screen
August 5th, 2012 at 1:50 pm
Holy Sh-moly! This series is seriously good!
If I had known it was sooo good, I’d have started it earlier!
1st impressions:
Daniel Choi looks more handsome than he ever has. He now has a much softer look, more typical of Korean male leads. I notice that his face has been changing slightly each time I see him in the past several years. Korean stars, male n female, keep tweaking their faces, a bit at a time, but it adds up.
So Ji Sub has aged considerably. He now is and looks like a middle aged ahjussi. Still hot of course. Perhaps it is cos he looks so thin. His frown seems permanent. Does it hurt to frown like that all the time? Or are his brows born that way?
It’s only been a year or so since Lee Yeon Hee appeared in Paradise Ranch. She looked like a little girl in it. A year later, she looks like the consummate professional here. The wonders of make-up!
First off, this series makes me yearn for the computer skills of the main chars. I’m a computer idiot. How I wish I can find my way around the computer like they can! Or even 1% of what they can!
A series that is intelligent, and completely different fr the mindless rom-com. Refreshing.

Ep 1:
A hacker is at large. His nickname is Hades (D Choi) (only they pronounce it Hardes on the show, Ha ha). He hacks into govt servers for sensitive info to post on the web, a la WikiLeaks.
An newbie actress, Shin Hyo Jung, jumps out her apt window to her death. She’s been having a sex scandal prior. Upon investigation, it looks like she didn’t jump, but was pushed. The cyber investigators, headed by So JS’s char Kim H, w assistant Yoo Kang Mi (Lee Yeon Hee), look into the case, becos there is supposed to be a list of names of the actress’ sex clients that include higher-ups in the govt. It is suspected she has been killed becos of it. It looks like Hades is involved.
In fact, Hades is investigating the death on his own. Turns out he (Park Ki Young) once enrolled in the Police Academy, n he and So JS/Kim Woo Hyun were classmates as well as roommates. Now Kim WH is hot on Hades tail becos Hades’ presence is found around Actress Shin.
Park n Kim come face to face. Park says that he has been asked to find a file hidden in Shin’s computer; he’d be paid handsomely if he finds it. That’s why he’s been hacking into Shin’s computer. And that the real killer wears a watch with a world map face.
Asst Yoo finds out that Shin has been pregnant. While Kim figures out that the real suspect lives in the apt next to Shin’s. It is obviously sb Kim knows, cos he looks shocked when this guy opens the door of his apt. And he is wearing a watch w a map-face.
All the impt clues r here in ep 1. The drama will be a road map that takes us back to what these clues all mean.

I find this drama very interesting, it’s something new and i like how they develop the suspense in the drama. The actors and actresses are very competent. I like how So Ji Sup portrays his character, he really is a great actor. I also admire him for having prepared much for this drama for he really did a great job trying to slim down, his goodlooks really shined in this drama. But I hope that one day he could again do something like a romantic drama. Congratulations to all actors and producer as well for having come up with this kind of project. Too bad I have to wait for 2 weeks to finish this drama.

Ep 2:
Hades/Park KY makes a fake police ID n enters the Criminal Investigation Building to look for the file that Actress Shin had hidden inside her notebook. He is cornered by Kang Mi, he talks her into viewing the file together.
A detective of the Heavy Crimes Division, nickname Mad Cow (Kwon Hyuk Joo) is sniffing around, n finds out that Hades is inside their building. Hades escapes with Shin’s notebook in his grasp.
He calls Kim WH and they arrange to meet outside an abandoned chemicals factory. They talk, and we get shown what is in the video file that Park found in Shin’s NB earlier:
We see 2 guys in a living room, one of them, an older man is given a poisoned drink, n dies in the video. But unexpectedly SJS’s Kim Woo Hyun is there with them! It stands to reason that the person who took the video was Shin, and she has been killed for it. But Kim WH, he is involved up to his neck in this mess!
What a twist: the clean competent cop, the main lead, SJS’s Kim WH is involved in a murder or at least its coverup. Hades/Park Ki Young, the hacker is the good guy trying to find the truth.
Kim has meant to come here to kill Park, but has a change of heart as they talk. Just then another guy sneaks up to fire at Park, only it ignites the chemicals n blows everything up, including our 2 men!
One of them dies. It is Kim who dies. Now we can’t have SJS’s char dying on us in ep 1 or 2; n D Choi’s performance is listed as a cameo. From there, it is a matter of course that Hades/Park takes on Kim’s identity with a newly reconstructed face that belongs to SJS’s Kim WH. It is accomplished w the help of Kang Mi, who believes Hades’ story abt Kim being involved, becos she has seen the video herself.
I want to keep these mini-caps very short, just enough to inform later-comers than myself. But this story doesn’t lend itself to short mini-caps. It’s a very intense and intelligent story w twists and turns.
At this point, I’m guessing the guy who wears a watch w a map face is played by Uhm Ki Joon, while the big guy behind the murder and big mess is none other than Kim Woo Hyun’s father, whom the synopsis tells us is a “high ranking police officer”.
But who is the girl at the end of ep 2, who is scared out of her wits by messages on her phone n computer?
Interesting.

Ep 3:
After the initial setup in the 1st two eps, we are now heading towards the main road:
Here it shows that sb is killing off girls left n right, 3 of them in this ep alone. One of them started a website to demand the truth from Actress Shin regarding her sex scandal when it broke out a year ago; two of them had left nasty comments on it. The suspicion is on Shin’s then manager, who also happens to be the BF of one of the girls.
But The new/fake Kim hacks into one of their computers and finds that the person who is suspected of killing these girls knows who killed Shin.
Kim n Kang Mi follow the trail, leading them to a stage performance, which has been inviting the girls to the show as a promotional gimmick. Each one of them is now dead.
They are there in the audience. Kang Mi sits in the seat meant for Hades/Park’s asst in his office. Then Kang Mi is made to disappear, falling thru a trap door below her seat!
August 6th, 2012 at 2:39 am
Ep 4:
Kang Mi reappears, on stage. They think they are after the young reporter, who has taken over Park’s old internet reporting website. The guy naps her. He turns out to be Actress Shin’s manager and friend. He is upset at her death, which he blames on netizens who have spoken ill of her. Rookie reporter’s “sin” is that she has been writing on the whole business since Shin’s death. The police manage to save Rookie Reporter, cos Mad Cow shoots deranged manager in the heart, killing him.
Hmmm….., I think it is only nece to maim him, not kill him, in order to save her. That makes me suspicious of Mad Cow.
Fake Kim is retracing real Kim’s footsteps using his handphone. It’s really amazing what these folks can do with a Samsung Galaxy! The whole show might as well just be a long product placement for it. Anyway, that leads Fake Kim and Kang Mi to Kim’s home, where his father and son live.
Fake Kim is privy to the fact that Kang Mi is in love w Kim, but we knew that already!
Sb is blackmailing a big stock brokerage firm for billions of won. Ah, finally Uhm Ki Joon makes his appearance with his face on screen! We’ve only been seeing his back and side of face, in his v dark office, with the music fr Phantom of the Opera blaring! He is the CEO of the targeted firm, who will decide on whether to pay the blackmailer or not.
I wanna bet that he is behind the scheme to blackmail the company himself!
August 6th, 2012 at 3:21 am
its so wonderful i cant wait until the final eps cant wait
August 6th, 2012 at 12:23 pm
can’t wait for the last episodes!
August 6th, 2012 at 12:57 pm
Love a good mystery thrill! Cyber thrillers are so rare in KD-land. This is indeed a welcome addition.
But, whatever happened to their attempt to take the surviving guy’s finger prints for identity certification? Kang Mi said she checked it. Mad Cow said he wanted to do it himself, but at that time, the nurse told him to go away. Then, nothing more comes out of it. How can that be?
The show should be called Phantom, instead of Ghost, for the creepy music that is played repeatedly, for the phantom files embedded in computer, n for Uhm’s char, which lurks in the dark, like a Phantom.
Ep 5:
Uhm Ki Joon as the head of Sekang Securities decides to call the bluff of the blackmailing hackers. They wait 30 mins. till the appointed time of hacking. Nothing happens. They breath a sigh of relief. Uhm comes up to SJS to say: You must have not recovered, since you don’t recognize me. Uh-oh!
The real attack is days away. SJS’s Kim n Kang Mi find out the ppl behind the threat, that it is a Trojan Horse. Kim further track down the lions’ den to see that they real time and target of the real attack is 6-30 at 9:30am, aimed at the basic infrastructure of the country, i.e. Korea Electric.
Meanwhile Mad Cow is getting suspicious that Kim is not the real Kim, that he is somehow Hades instead.
Like I said: Whatever happened to finger printing the guy who survived in the chemical blast?
August 6th, 2012 at 3:30 pm
This series manages to pack a lot of story into each ep. Love it. Who would have thought it could be so exciting to see a bunch of middle aged guys in eletric company uniform hover over a computer?
Ep 6:
Hades/Kim tries to stop the cyber attack on Korea Electric. In his desperation, he has to use a virus that Hades designed to carry out a counter attack in order to stop the vicious hackers. That exposes the fact that he knows n uses codes n virus known only to Hades. A hearing is called. He manages to cover his tracks by alluding to the past roommate relationship betwn Kim and Hades, n gets away w it. Mad Cow still has his doubts. Kim gets an award for averting the disaster of total electricity failure n possible nuclear meltdown.
After the cyber attack, the stock prices of every firm plummets, except those that r in the business of internet security! Ha. Esp. one called SafeTech! Rumor has it that SafeTech will merge w SeKang Securities! So Guess Who is Behind the Cyber attack! I bet on Uhm KJ’s creepy CEO char, for the purpose of bringing up his stock prices. Wow.
A pretty reporter comes to Kim’s award ceremony. She ambushes him at his home. She then calls UhmKJ to report to that Kim has no reaction when she lies that she n Kim were ex-lovers. Uhm suspects that the current Kim is not the real Kim. Mad Cow n their Dept Head have the same suspicion. Dept Head tells MadC that Kim has more secrets: He pulls out photos of a man who died last year, owner of a SME, the same guy whom the real Kim saw murdered in front of his eyes, as caught on video n found on the computer of Actress Shin!
August 6th, 2012 at 10:54 pm
Ep 7:
Students are jumping to their deaths at Kang Mi’s alma mater. Upon investigation, they r actually killed. SJS’s fake Kim n Kang Mi r 2 steps behind the killer.
Mad Cow is looking at old surveillance DVDs at the vacation villa where the owner of an SME died. He finds out the the man’s car, Kim’s car as well as Actress Shin car all wen there the night the man died.
Uhm has been alerted to Mad Cow’s investigation. It is shown that the Sekang Securities actually belongs to his uncle, who has a son of his own. Both uncle n son tell him to know his place. Looks like Uhm has bigger fish to catch than Sekang Securities.
August 7th, 2012 at 12:46 am
Ep 8:
The murders at the high school are committed by a student who is on the waiting list for a scholarship. She knocks off those in front of her so that the scholarship would be hers. She is 4th on the list. She manages to kill 2, n is on her way to the 3rd one when she is caught.
I find the addition of this case odd n uninteresting becos it is neither related to the main problems at hand, i.e. the murder of Actress Shin, the plans of Uhm, etc., nor does it seem to be a in a series of unrelated cases. It is a truly sad world if high school students become murderers for a scholarship.
Back to the real story:
Mad Cow n his partners follow a guy at Safetech. He drives n they end up at the villa compound where the SME owner was killed a year ago.
Meanwhile, Kim hacks into the hardware in the car of the Reporter who pretends to be his GF. He follows her n ends up at the same villa. Uhm comes down the stairs relaxed as can be, to ask him why he has come.
The High school case dilutes the story n breaks the momentum. At the end of these 2 eps, I’m less excited as I was, or would have been if they hadn’t included the high school case. I don’t see how it is relevant to the main plot.
August 7th, 2012 at 1:05 pm
Ep 9:
While watching eps 7, 8, I was frustrated that one team had been split into 2, with Hades/Kim investigating the murder of businessman Nam San Won, n Mad Cow investigating Kim. So glad to see that in ep 9 they collide, n form a team again.
The evidence points to the son of the chairman of Sekang. Uhm is framing his cousin for the murder. It is never smart to use a capably person to run the company, meaning to take it fr him to give to your less or not capably son. A recipe for disaster.
The actor playing Mad Cow really grows on me. He is just interesting to watch. Acting trumps looks here.
August 7th, 2012 at 2:31 pm
Ep 10:
The police finds evidence to press charges against the Chairman’s son. Mad Cow realizes that it’s been too easy, that there must be more to it than meets the eye. The Head Prosecutor in Seoul wants to put the cap on the matter, to stop further investigation. Ah, so he is being blackmailed by Uhm into doing so. Chairman and Uhm have a showdown. Uhm not only wants the company; he also wants revenge for his father, who was probably out-maneuvered by his own brother, the current Chairman.
Madcow n Hades/Kim again split up becos of distrust. Kim finds out that the day Nam died, he had given Kim a notebook that contained evidence for safekeeping. He also figures out where the notebook is. It is at his father’s house. Only when he gets there, he finds that a colleague on his team has beaten him to the notebook by an hour. At ep’s end, we see that guy meeting Uhm at a highway rest area. So, That’s the rat in the Cyber Investigation Team!
What makes me wonder is how come Uhm has a man in every place, be it the police, the media, the hospital, the prosecutor’s office, every damn place? How Is that possible?
August 7th, 2012 at 5:08 pm
This series is seriously good. Just when u think you’ve hit a dead end, it makes a u-turn and give u new hope for solving the case.
Ep 11:
The colleague is not a rat, but is lured to the rest area and killed by Uhm.
In this ep, we get the back story of what happened to Uhm’s father, how he was framed by Uhm’s uncle, to take the fall for having n using a secret political fund. Kim’s father was the ranking policeman in charge. He bore false witness to accuse Uhm’s father of the wrong doing. Kim’s father became comatose later. No doubt a means to shut him up. Bearing false witness also was Nam, who was killed a year ago, part of Uhm’s revenge, I think. The prosecutor in charge is the same one who is now trying to sow up the current case against Uhm’s cousin (his uncle’s son) in a hurry. Uhm is trying to give his uncle a taste of his own medicine.
The Cyber team is working to clear their colleague of the charge of drunk-driving. Madcow n Kim r separately following the leads that this colleague had found n left.
They end up at the same place, w Madcow confronting Hades/Kim of killing their colleague. Hades Kim says Kim couldn’t have killed Nam, n their colleague cos he was already dead, and lo and behold, he owns up to the fact that he is Hades, not Kim! EXCITING!
August 7th, 2012 at 6:32 pm
Even though there’s little romance in this drama, but it’s very good drama. I wished this drama more than 20 episodes, 25 will be fine ^^”
August 7th, 2012 at 6:55 pm
I love this show cos there is story movement in every ep. Nothing drags on. There are surprises and reversals at every turn.
Ep 12:
The colleague was killed for the notebook he retrieved. The notebook was gone after he was killed. The police thought they lost the evidence, then they thought they found it in the equipment in the car. Turns out it isn’t what they are looking for, but only contains evidence that the cop is killed by a virus planted into his car’s computer. They get the killer, an employee of Safetech, one of Uhm’s underlings. They look further and find the USB in the cop’s jacket lining. They r looking at it in Hades/Kim’s office. Uhm arrives in the police station w 2 underlings. ALL THREE OF THEM, Hades/Kim, Kang Mi AND Madcow leave the office to meet him, giving sb a chance to steal the USB, sth their colleague died for! This makes them realize there is a spy among them, n it is sb in their team. The guy fr Safetech also gets killed while he is held in detention. That leaves no doubt that there is a spy among them.
August 7th, 2012 at 10:02 pm
@KDaddict,
This drama gives suspense in every episode, you can’t wait for the next episodes.
August 7th, 2012 at 11:16 pm
@jedi,
I’m glad I waited, till it’s near the end b4 starting it. The suspense would have killed me!
Ep 13:
After much meandering, they find their spy. It is the doc (Ph.D.) on their team. He’s the one who steals the USB and the one who kills the witness, the Safetech guy who was at the explosion scene that killed the real Kim Woo Hyun.
Ep 14:
A tooth for an tooth: Uhm gives poisoned brandy to his uncle, just like his uncle did to his father. The dealis for uncle to “go away” in exchange for Uhm saving his son. Uncle obliges! But who is to say that Uhm will keep his word after uncle’s death? If i were uncle, I’d have my doubts abt that.
I confess that I’m not usually real fond of Uhm Ki Joon, but I love him in this role, as the cold-blooded schemer. Evil becomes him. Hee.
Hades/Kim manufactures a video file that shows Uhm’s reflection on the glass when Actress Shin was pushed out the window. That lures Uhm to the police station for questioning.
He also finds a way to retrieve the files that were on the notebook that Nam gave to him for safe-keeping. In it he finds a program from Safetech. It is in actual fact a hacking program that is disguised, i.e. anyone who installs a security program from Safetech, they r inviting surveillance fr Safetech, gives no meaning to: Big brother is watching! That’d give Sefetech, Uhm, plenty of ammunition to blackmail lots of ppl everywhere!
Kim is getting on Uhm’s nerves: At the end of the ep, Hades/Kim is apprehended on a fabricated charge, for illegally eaves-dropping on the Prosecutor’s Office!!
August 8th, 2012 at 2:28 pm
Ep 15:
is sooo good!
Madcow takes the fall for the eaves-dropping charge. He gets put in detention. But the whole team is suspended, which suits them fine, cos it allows them time n freedom to do strange things on their own time, like going to Safetech to duplicate their computer files for evidence to clear Madcow n the team of wrong doing. It is great to see Uhm, OK Cho Hyun Min, get a taste of his own medicine.
Ep 16:
is frustrating for me to watch, cos the team is back in commission but is deliberately led astray by false info that Uhm directs his minions to throw in the path of the team. An example is when they see their own Head talking to one of Uhm’s hackers in the gym, n misunderstand thim. Come on, if that guy is on the other team, would he be talking to a bad guy in the open for everyone to see?
The Head Prosecutor is knifed. Every one who was involved in Uhm’s father’s demise 13 years ago is being eliminated one by one. The next one on the list is Kim’s father, who is already comatose.
I don’t care for this ep 16, cos I feel that it is deliberately adding misunderstand to the mix, so that the team will run around the track a couple times.
August 8th, 2012 at 4:18 pm
I love this drama !!!!!!!!!
love sojisub moreeee lol
August 9th, 2012 at 11:44 am
Never seen a drama that is so intense. A suspense, breathtaking wherein Kang Mi was lock in one of the room of her alma mater school. Somewhat a horror scene. A girl is almost to hold KM… an errrrrrrrrrriiiieeeeeeeee, somewhat alike of the ring movie…. I love this drama…
August 9th, 2012 at 2:22 pm
Ep 17:
Ep 16 ends w Uhm confronting Hades/Kim abt his identity. Intense stuff.
The team trace Real Kim’s footsteps and find the USB he hid in his dad’s house. It contains a report of what he was doing, pretending to go along with Uhm, in order to investigate his illegal activities. In the report, Kim talks abt Uhm approaching him to investigate the dirty deal that took place 13 years ago that caused his father’s death. Transaction records show that Kim’s father had taken 200 million won n had played a part in lying to the court abt Uhm’s father’s role in setting up an illegal political slush fund.
Hades/Kim brings this report to the Head of the Cyber Investigating dept, Goo, at Goo’s residence. Good takes the report, steps into the elevator, where a young man in black is standing. When the elevator doors r closing, the young man looks up at Hades/Kim w a snicker. Hades/Kim recognizes him as sb on Uhm’s hacking team. When the elevator door reopens on a lower door, Goo is dead on the floor in a pool of blood; both the assailant and the report r gone.
Now this bugs me. How can they be policeman w so little sense of defensiveness? Even young women r taught not to enter elevators in quiet places where a single man is inside. With sth so sensitive n valuable as that report, how can Goo and Hades/Kim not be more alert n defensive?
August 9th, 2012 at 2:23 pm
Ep 18:
Is so intense I don’t remember a thing, after I just watched it. I was so nervous I don’t remember a thing. Have to re-watch it.
