Synopsis
‘Rooftop Prince’ has themes of time-travel.
Joseon era (300 years ago)
Lee Gak (Micky Yoochun) is the Crown Prince. When he is ready to marry, Lee Gak wants to marry a beautiful woman. Bu Yong (Han Ji Min) and Hwa Yong (Jung Yoo Mi) are sisters. Hwa Yong, the older sister wants to marry Crown Prince Lee Gak, but her father makes it clear that younger sister Bu Yong will marry the Crown Prince. Hwa Yong is so upset, she uses an an iron to burn Bu Yong’s face, pretending it was an accident. Now, Bu Yong carries a big scar on her face. Eventually, older sister Hwa Yong marries Crown Prince Lee Gak. Time passes and are now adults. Younger sister Bu Yong is now a smart woman, good with needlework. Older sister Hwa Yong is uneasy that her husband, Crown Prince Lee Gak, and Bu Young get along well. One day, Crown Prince Lee Gak wakes up in the early morning. He finds that Hwa Yong is not next to him. He feels something strange about the situation and calls for an eunuch. At this time, an eunuch comes running to the Crown Prince and informs him that Hwa Yong is found dead in a pond. Lee Gak suspects that his wife’s death is not by accident. He puts together a team to investigate his wife’s death. When the team awaits to interview a witness, a group of assassins appears and chases them. Crown Prince Lee Gak and his men are chased to the edge of a cliff. The group jumps off the cliff. The Prince from the Joseon era travels to the future with his entourage Song Man Bo (Lee Min Ho), Woo Yong Sul (Jung Suk Won) and Do Chi San (Choi Woo Shik).

When Park Ha (Han Ji Min) was young, her father remarried and Park Ha gained older step-sister Se Na (Jung Yoo Mi). When their parents left for work, older step-sister Se Na despised having to take care of her younger sister. One day, while younger sister Park Ha sleeps inside a truck, the truck suddenly departs. Even though Se Na sees the truck leaving, she turns around and pretends that it isn’t happening. Time passes, younger sister Park Ha is now living in America. While, Park Ha sells fruits as a sidewalk vendor, Yong Tae Yong (Micky Yoochun) sees her and feels a connection with Park Ha. Yong Tae Moo (Lee Tae Sung) appears in front of Yong Tae Young. They are cousins. The following day, the two men boards a yacht. While the boat is sailing, they have a small fight and Yong Tae Yong falls into the water. His cousin doesn’t attempt to save Yong Tae Yong and actually attempts to hide evidence that he was there. He then jumps into the water and swims away. At this time, younger sister Park Ha receives a phone call that her family has been located in South Korea. Park Ha travels to South Korea and learns that her father has just passed away. At her father’s funeral, Park Ha meets her step-mother and older step-sister Se Na. Park Ha has no memory of how she was separated from her family. Park Ha settles down in Seoul. One night, when she comes back to her rooftop room, she discovers four men, in Korean traditional clothing, sitting in her room…..

Ep 16 have me sitting on the edge of my chair a lot! One of the sweetest and scariest parts for me was when LG and PH embracing each other at the stairwell. One moment I went, “Awwwww….” and the next moment, I’m shouting, “Hide quickly! Go meet somewhere else!!!”

Ep 16:
We don’t have to see much of Sena in this ep. Unfortunately, seems like TMoo is in every scene! When he n PH r standing on the platform, I was worried that he was going to push her into the track! Gave me such a scare I had to walk away!
OK, so the good guys are on to the fact that TMoo has the same PH baby picture. Isn’t it an easy deduction to make as to who the woman should be, given who Sena is calling Mother lately? And why is PH ASKING TMoo abt it? Does she think he’ll level w her?

I love every min that Micky is on screen, but I hate the last 15 mins. of ep 16!
Park Ha Ah, if you r going to be that stupid, that trusting w TMoo, then I’m going to feel sorry for how stupid u r, rather than for what happens to u by his hands!
Why would u trust TMoo to lead u to your mother? When u’ve seen with your own eyes how Sena calls Mdm Jang Oemoni. Doesn’t that tell u who your mother is n what TMoo n Sena r up to? Come on!
If I were an actress, I’d tell the director that I’m NOT going to play sb that dumb, bc no one who has survived on her own n lived to be PH’s age can be That dumb! And I’d be promptly out of a job!

@ KDaddict 1340: thats what exactly frustrates me about PH’s character so far. i want to like her more but there is no reason to. apart from standing up against her unnie, she is really kinda dumb and even LG said she is the opposite of her joseon person. she has no real job or talent. there is nothing really unique or outstanding about her. she is actually quite a plain character.

PH isn’t the only one who is dumb here. LG isn’t too quick on the uptake either. How long has it taken him to realize that PH is Buyong? 15 eps! My goodness, that’s 7 eps longer than it took the King to confirm that his talisman was Yeon Woo!
And Grandma, after TMoo engineered that hospital visit w a comatose TYong in order to oust him fr the board of directors, says what in ep 16?
“I’m glad to see the two of you getting along so well.” Ya, right. U have run your own corporation for decades! PLEASE! Are u senile now, granny?
And then there is Mdm Jang. Park Ha’s surname is Park. Her daughter’s surname is Park. The woman who raised Sena is the fishmonger mom. The woman who PH is calling mom is one n the same. And Jang has to go ask Sena,
“Do u know where my In Joo is?”, and ask PH,
“Do you know sb by the name of Park In Joo?” You r a CEO of your own v successful company!
Everyone on this show is dumb. The dumbest of all is the writer. But we love the cuteness in the show despite knowing all this. What can I say, besides, Micky, u sure r a star!

A thought suddenly occur to me while watching the very last part of Ep 16. What if PH really dies there in the truck just as she died in the pond in Joseon era? And the reason why LG/TY stopped driving suddenly is because he suddenly realised that it is indeed BY who died in the pond and that PH’s death here is inevitable? Her present soul leaves modern era but lives in Joseon era again? Argh..shudder, too scary, I don’t want her to die T__T

However, I think CEO Jang is a little smarter than our leads. At least she played along coolly with SN’s ploy and used seemingly innocent remarks to show her out. It took her, like only 2 to 3 encounters to out SN!

@KDaddict: wave! yes i hv been reading but not posting here. just too little time too many things to do. i hv been watching this without thinking much (truth is 80% of my kd brain is focused on fotg) & bec PH is the lead, her character stood out being so boringly plain. as u revealed the dumbness of all others one by one, my brain just went ting ting ting .. & i thot dang .. i been dumbified by the writer!
@Jennie: it wud be shocking if PH’s character is killed! but i do think though it may work out better for her to leave her boring plain modern life to become the smart joseon crown princess

What makes it more frustrating is Tae Mu and Sena are actually not that smart so why can’t our lead characters beat them at their own game? Including Taek Soo, it’s 7 against 2!

. i too watch mostly on my laptop or tablet. the prob with watching on tv is i tear up with sad scenes. its so embarassing in front of da family
