Synopsis
“The Moon Embracing The Sun” tells a love story between King Lee Hwon and a female shaman named Wol. Wol was born from a noble family and became the crown princess, but she was entrapped and faced execution. Finally, she lived as a shaman.

- Based on the novel 해를 품은 달 (The Moon That Embraces the Sun) by Jung Eun Gwol (first published December 29, 2005), who is also the author of the novel that Sungkyunkwan Scandal was based on.
- Actor Joo Won was originally cast as Prince Yang Myung, but dropped out of the show due to Ojakgyo Brothers being extended. Actor Jung Il Woo has been replaced for this role.
- Actor Kim Jeong Hoon scheduled to play Heo Yeom but dropped out the series prior to filming due to his album being released early 2012 in Japan. Song Jae Hee has been replaced for this role.
- The Ratings for this drama dropped significantly on 29/Feb/2012 due to the Live Broadcasting of FIFA World Cup Qualification of Asia Region on the same time.
- On 6/March/2012, MBC confirms that Episode 19 & 20 will not air this week and will air Special Episodes in its place due to the MBC labor strike. (Source)

I’m totally AGREE with @asianaddict !!!!! this drama should be, at least, top 3 best drama this year !
for me, my self, best drama in 2012 are The Moon Embraces the Sun, Gentlemen’s dignity, May Queen, Nice guy, and Rooftop Prince. so I really dissapointed that my favorite and the best of all (TMETH) even didn’t choose as top 8 drama ! I just think like “wtf is goin on?”
well, I can considered Faith, Arang, Time slip Dr.Jin, The King 2Hearts, as Top 8 Dramas. well, It’s have a good story, and great acting. but, Love Rain? omg.. no offense, but really, this drama can considered as top 8 dramas?
sorry to say, but NO…. in my opinion Love Rain just sell big name of JGS and Yoona snsd -___-” the story is too ordinary and kinda Boring (To The Beautiful You better than Love Rain), and their acting? idk why but i always feel that yoona’s acting was terrible.

I, as dramas lovers, can’t accept these “Best Korean Dramas 2012″ list. maybe Koreandrama.org can change the title to “People’s Choice Korean Dramas 2012″, because in facts the list isn’t considered as “the best”, but only “people’s vote”.
THE MOON THAT EMBRACES THE SUN better 100x times than those love rain.

…tis drama should’ve been the best drama. Why on earth that tis perfct drama lost to sme unexpected 3rd grade dramas, say love rain. Though i love the actors the story is plain and boring. I dnt understand the voters..ofcourse if we’r bou2 vote best star then we can choose our fav actors but drama is nt bout actors bt its storyline, chemestry,plot etc..and among the dramas of 2012 its the sun and the moom that got all tis. It should b at least in the 3 though nt no1..

The moon embracing the sun is so far the Best korean drama I have ever watched. All the actors and actresses were at their best acting skills. Though I am not a korean, I believe that this drama is something that koreans should be proud of. Two thumbs up to all the cast, writers and the director.

I love this korean drama….I watched the whole episode for 5 consecutive nights…sleep almost 3am, not minding that i have to go to office in the morning…this is one of the best drama… ang ganda at nakakakilig…the story is superb, may depth…good story line and best actors! so love it

i’ve just finished it
and it’s just waaaaw == a total eclipse of my heart ^^
amazing plot, great performence from all of the actors, starting with the young ones to the adults..everything was just perfect and i felt everything like if i am with them, they made me live the story and events, i still can’t get enough of thouse painful scenes and still wondering : how could they do it in such a perfect way ??
a huge BRAVO to all the cast of : the moon that embraces the sun..
until now, one of the greatest dramas that i have ever seen

So I watched this drama again yesterday and.. Although even I’ve watched it like ten times already, I still cry, still laugh, still love this drama so much ! <3 why why why why I still love it a lot?
It's my favorite drama all the time <3 can't wait to see another kim soo hyun project. Miss him already.

This drama is the most amazing drama I’ve watched in a long time. Actors and everything was awesome. I was HOOKED and watched nonstop without sleeping and continued watching it the next day. I don’t regret missing out on studying time for my tests. I have never been hooked like that. 10/10. And that’s still not a high enough rating!

This is the first period drama I’ve watched, and because of this I was encouraged to try other period dramas. But this drama is hilarious it’s beyond on what to expect! I will always love this drama <3 I also hope to see the next drama of Kim Soo Hyun
