Synopsis
“The Moon Embracing The Sun” tells a love story between King Lee Hwon and a female shaman named Wol. Wol was born from a noble family and became the crown princess, but she was entrapped and faced execution. Finally, she lived as a shaman.

- Based on the novel 해를 품은 달 (The Moon That Embraces the Sun) by Jung Eun Gwol (first published December 29, 2005), who is also the author of the novel that Sungkyunkwan Scandal was based on.
- Actor Joo Won was originally cast as Prince Yang Myung, but dropped out of the show due to Ojakgyo Brothers being extended. Actor Jung Il Woo has been replaced for this role.
- Actor Kim Jeong Hoon scheduled to play Heo Yeom but dropped out the series prior to filming due to his album being released early 2012 in Japan. Song Jae Hee has been replaced for this role.
- The Ratings for this drama dropped significantly on 29/Feb/2012 due to the Live Broadcasting of FIFA World Cup Qualification of Asia Region on the same time.
- On 6/March/2012, MBC confirms that Episode 19 & 20 will not air this week and will air Special Episodes in its place due to the MBC labor strike. (Source)

I think the polling above, it is not supposed to be “Called” or “Named” the best KOREAN DRAMA, to be honest this drama much deserved than those drama listed!
I have watch all the Top 10 drama in the list, this one is more deserved to be labeled “the best Korean drama”. Many people in Korea love this drama.
Can you considered to change it to “The Most favorite” drama?

I’m agree with you zhao… No doubt, This drama deserved a better ratings !!
Becoz this drama was much more better than those other dramas on the top 10 list.
Honestly I also like some of those top 10 dramas too such as :
- Faith; because Lee Min Ho was there, and I am his fans either.
- Arang and the Magistrate; because of the unique plot.
But if I have to compare them all… surely I will vote for this to be The Best.
Why…. ??? Becoz This is The Best Drama I have ever watched !!
The Storyline was really Great, Thrilling just from the beginning till the end.
But they could still maintain the Romantic side of it…
So Unpredictable…. what will happened in the next episode…
Besides that, The Casts were Great also !!
Kim Soo Hyun really played his role just in a perfect way!!
So charismatic as a King and also very touching as a faithful lover.
Instead, Yeo Jin Goo & Kim Yoo Jung deserved thumbs up for their superb acting skill.
The Chemistry between them was just so great!!
Unfortunately, Han Ga In failed to play her role here. But Kim Min Seo played better than she did. They really should replaced her with Moon Chae Won for better !!

it’s a shame this drama is not one of the top contenders to be the best for 2012. guess that happens when the voting demographics only care for their idols and not the dramas per se. i am not voting for the final round as i will not be objective with the fact that i failed to watch the other dramas in the final round.

I cannot believe that The Moon That embraces the sun is not in the 2nd round of voting. This drama is a lot better than most of the dramas in top 10. I’m a Lee Min Ho fan, but TMTETS deserves the first place more than
Faith does. The poll is named -THE BEST korean drama- and I think we should judge dramas as a hole, not cuz our bias is in it. TMTETS fans, don’t worry, we know that our drama is the best, we don’t need to win a poll for knowing it.

Totally agree KDramafan.
TMTETS certainly should be in the top 8.. Love Rain and Dr Jin shld not have been there and even Faith.. storylines were rather weak and yet in top 8. Anyway.. too late to say much now.. its sad that while we are fans of certain actors and actresses, no one seem to care much about the storyline or view the drama as whole but only see the actors. Perhaps one should judge a drama by the ending.. Faith and Dr Jin have the weakest ending.. disappointing abrupt ending.

Hey guys, don’t make it difficult for the Admin. This drama didn’t make it to the final round because of lack of votes. The Admin put online poll as the base of judging. It is may be too late but late is better than never. I was disappointed upon knowing that this was not included in the Top 8 best korean drama of this site because the ratings will prove that this is indeed one of the best drama of 2012. Though, I was not surprised of the result since I was expecting that only those who have bigger fans will won. As I observed it through the years, winners of this site were not really the best of all if it would be judge fairly. They only won because the leading stars were famous. If you noticed, 2 awards were of Jang Geun Suk’s Drama. Only in 2011 where he doesn’t have one and I bet, if Love Rain was much better that it is then surely, it will win.
I am not against Jang Geun Suk, surely I am one his avid fan. This is just to say that don’t get hurt so much if your bet did not won the award. What matter most is that you have showed your support but you have to accept also that it wasn’t enough to beat the others.
