Synopsis
“The Moon Embracing The Sun” tells a love story between King Lee Hwon and a female shaman named Wol. Wol was born from a noble family and became the crown princess, but she was entrapped and faced execution. Finally, she lived as a shaman.

- Based on the novel 해를 품은 달 (The Moon That Embraces the Sun) by Jung Eun Gwol (first published December 29, 2005), who is also the author of the novel that Sungkyunkwan Scandal was based on.
- Actor Joo Won was originally cast as Prince Yang Myung, but dropped out of the show due to Ojakgyo Brothers being extended. Actor Jung Il Woo has been replaced for this role.
- Actor Kim Jeong Hoon scheduled to play Heo Yeom but dropped out the series prior to filming due to his album being released early 2012 in Japan. Song Jae Hee has been replaced for this role.
- The Ratings for this drama dropped significantly on 29/Feb/2012 due to the Live Broadcasting of FIFA World Cup Qualification of Asia Region on the same time.
- On 6/March/2012, MBC confirms that Episode 19 & 20 will not air this week and will air Special Episodes in its place due to the MBC labor strike. (Source)

Wonderful drama. Love the young cast and looking forward to seeing the main cast. Expectations r high for this drama and hope this drama will be able to meet them.

Though I am enjoying this drama and liking the cast, young and main, I found myself always putting it at the end of my watch list for Wed/Thurs. The reason is I know Prince Yang Myung is going to be heart broken and I just hate to see that disappointed face on Lee Min Ho and Jung Il Woo throughout the drama!

Totally agreed with you! Just saw eps 3 and that look on Lee Min Ho’s face was unbearable! And later Jung Il Woo too. Yikes!

I searched for it but could not find it anywhere.
It is so beautiful. I just finished it and the ending was super cute.
The actors were really good and I enjoyed watching it.
Now I am starting to watch The Return of Iljimae because alot of people say that it is really good, so I give it a try:)

This drama is going to be torturous! We feel bad for Yang Myung, and worry for Yan Woo all the time when the evil girl is around. But I don’t think that he exists in the drama just to be heart broken. He must have a good role to play in the scheme of things. I don’t even have time to watch this wk’s ep yet! Entertaining friends fr Australia!
The R of I starts up slowly. The first couple eps r so-so, but once JIW shows up, it only gets better n better, as he appears in almost every frame later on. The actress is also super. Drop in on the RoI thread to see what some super fans said abt it.

I am sure you are right about the role of Jung in METS. I think the main casts will come in after the little girl die (or pretend to die) which should be pretty soon. Another heart wrenching moment….that’s why I always stay away from Saguek. Awww..

A while back, sagueks feature ppl (commoners) wearing shabby clothing, suffering in poverty, in servitude, in war, n men running around on horseback to places w names that mean nothing to us. I think PD teams realize that that puts us off.
Starting w SKKS, they give us sagueks w many pretty young faces in gorgeous clothing (Soong JK). Now we have a new generation of sagueks that we don’t need to fear.
I like comedies too, unfortunately many comedies stop at nothing to make us laugh. In that case, I’d rather take a little angst, a little concern for chars I can care abt over hours of vacuous or silly plotting.

Both young cast Yeo Jin Goo & Lee Min Ho (1993) are both very adorable. So sad to see 2 suns wooing after 1 good moon bc it will make 3 person sad
Yeo Jin Goo is very charming, lively & handsome compared to his younger photos. He will be more charming when he gets older and melts more girls heart. ha ha.

Just finished watching episode 3 with eng sub….it is really hard for me to watch this drama, seeing those beautiful and cute faces, i can’t bear to see what will happen to them.its gonna be sad and heartbreaking
ahhh…i just hate it. Pity yang myung so much, standing from the distance watching the girl he love with his brother….but i love that scence, it was so romatic.

I feel the same way. I think I may abandon ship, at least I know things will be OK for them. I can’t finish ep 3. The more the crown prince is crazy abt YanW, the more it puts her in danger, fr the evil dowager and the evil girl. Yicks!

TPM was heart-wrenching too, but perhaps the OTP were grown-ups, it wasn’t so hard for us to watch them suffer.
